Michigan State University Extension (MSUE) works to ensure that the industry has a thriving knowledge base to help it become more competitive in local, state, national and international markets. The Cover Crop & Soil Health Team works to increase farmers’ success, not only financially, but also in protecting the environment and soil health through applied research.

Why must we terminate it before it seeds IF it will be cattle feed only?
Then you may want to plant perennial rye grass if you want a stand that will last a few years. The original plant will die off in a year, unless it goes to seed as you are suggesting.
what is the best cover crop to grow not so much for soil health, but for the highest amount of biomass for the space? I want to try milett to put in my compost pile is this a good option?
Does using cover crops help in the average garden setting? my soil is mostly clay and did not seem to dry out at all this year.
