thx. The lake supplies water to houses in a local town. There is an aeration system in the lake that creates the bubbling water - i think there are 3 or 4 of them - spooky to foil over lol

Looking for board number 3, narrower, lighter, and more forward tracks I think should help, hopefully 3s a charm. Thanks for this. I am in Vermont on Lake Champlain I have Gong HIPE Cruzader in 7'11'' and Curve H4xl with Fluid 52 Stab and HM86 mast. I use this as my light wind winging board but I am thinking of practicing paddle up. I am 185lbs and 6'1"". What paddle did are you using? And what mast length? Do you think I might be able to practice this with the HM86 Mast? Ideally I don't want to buy another mast. I do need to buy a paddle. Keep posted on your progress. Hi Derek. Im 120 kg wet (240 LBS) and 6ft 2. Im using an Aztron Power carbon Paddle. Im using a gong HM 85 mast. With my weight and the very wide foil it is a little wobbly - i can feel it when the foil just starts to activate and also on land. So ive ordered a second hand HM 72 for its extra stiffness and should be a little easier to get up on foil. I think at your weight you should be fine with the 86. Ive started doing more exercise to improve my fitness and lose some weight and i think this will help a lot. I just think its a great thing to try - we have lots of light and more no wind days at the lake i use so when i cant wing its cool to try the paddle up. Not specifically for downwind but i might have a go if i get the chance. Also check out @Ludo_freefoiler he is doing this on hipe cruzader with some great tips and help :-)

ooooh good question. I had exactly the same problem when i started with it. I move my mast further back so when im on the board, the mast is right below where the rear footstrap front mount is. Ive had to experiment a lot with foot position but find that helped (im probably similar weight to you (after a big lunch 108kg). It does like to take off very easilly if theres a gust of wind and my foot position isnt right it will just go and take off and throw me off lol. It turns a lot faster than them and is better at high speed. For me in light or even normal wind, the sirus foils I absolutely love I can ride almost at a slow walking pace with the largest sirus and it's beautiful to pump and keep going when the wind drops and they are sooooooooo silky smooth gliding along I'm not always into going fast, it's nice to chill but the sirus can get a decent speed going. I have a large one still to try more but need stronger wind for it until I get used to is but is should be fast ,👌

Thanks for your videos. I am about the same size/age as you and like the idea of a large inflatable. Would you still go with the Gong Hipe if you were to buy again? Any other gear recommendations? I am OK on wings but might buy a new foil setup.

Thanks. I wish i would have bought this downwind board first - i love it. Im happy with inflatable boards - just easier for me with storage and transport. Happy with al the Gong equipment ive bought - no issues

Is it really a good board for light wind winging? I though infaltable board were quite stiky and there for the worst option for an easy tale off

The Cruzader is fantastic in light wind It will take off before other normal boards in light winds 👍💪 Sometimes I need to pump the board and wing a little but it's no effort I have left friends behind on a normal board -- he told me after that there was no wind but I took off and flew away - he didnt think it was possible but it works very well 😎👍👌💪

morning. cheers dude :-) Its a 2nd hand gopro max 360. I treated the lenses with rain x this time - works well. Then i made my own go pro pole with black pvc conduit, then its just strapped to the front handles with lipo battery straps and some other bits - ill have to do a short vid. - i need to make a longer stick to velcro to the back of the wing. Have a great day 🤙🥳

hi its 7ft 11 and 22 inch wide 146 litre. Dont notice the extra length of the board - i prefer it to a shorter board to be honest

@@EASTCOASTGONGWINGFOILING-sr6kh Thanks looks like a lot of fun, I’m about to take delivery of a Gong Cruzader point opted for the 6.6XL which is also 22 inch I’m hoping it will open up the lighter wind days for me.

@@hcutmore oh for sure you will be flying no problem. Im now considering one of the solid boards as well. Hope you enjoy yours. Took me about 1 hour of falling off to find my balance on the cruzader ( my balance isnt very good at the best of times 🤣)

Thank you for sharing! I'm looking at exactly the same gear. Glad it seems to be working for you 👍🏻👍🏻 I just wonder if you are somewhat hindered by the flat sticky bottom of the inflatable

Hi Edward In this board and set up not at all It wants to fly all the time In strong wind it can be tricky with too big a wing because it just wants to take off when your not ready 🤣 I've also got a 5ft 3 hipe pro inflatable - it's not really a sticky board, but compared to the Cruzader it is harder to get going The Cruzader is my favourite baby far Good luck if you get the gear 👍😀👌

Cool to see that you were the one with the most airmiles! I think I would (almost) match that with my 2021 gear, a 7m2 Gong Pulse V1 and a 2100cm2 Curve V1. But surely I would have to pump more on my Gong Hipe Pro 5.1 and would sink in each windhole whereas you would glide trough it. I have seen many people unsuccesfully trying to fly with a 5m2 and a 1400cm2 foil in light winds, although the skinny ones probably could make it.

Hi, yes i felt like i was up on foil for longer than some of the other guys. I also have a hipe pro 5ft 3" - in light winds i have to use 7.5 mtr wing and pump like crazy the wing and the board - its v hard work - im still about 110kg. There are also some other guys here who are really good and can fly on a short board with a big wing but small front foil (skinny high aspect) and still fly - they are a bit lighter than me though lol. Yes with your front foil you will struggle in the wind holes - your foil wont glide as well as high aspect so you drop and have to start all over again. Im in love with the Cruzader - in low winds sometimes i dont even have to pump to fly - its amazing and also goes upwind really easily (i struggle a lot upwind on my shorter board) 😁🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳
