Interesting experiment 🤠👍liked and subbed
Thanks, I need to make a fresh shelf. As much as I think the sun helps, the cedar is part of it also. Fresh red aromatic cedar, I believe, might somewhat quicken the results.
Awesome
There is no such thing as artificial toning. All toning is natural, it’s just simple chemistry
I see what you mean, but dipping them in egg whites or liver of sulfur is artificial ish. At least intentional.
@@beav1962 one could argue that people who unintentionally tone their coins are worse because they are not doing it to be pleasing to the eyes and or are ignorant of the chemistry damaging the coins.
@@ericchin79 Most "naturally toned" coins were done accidentally/unknowingly by being in a burlap bag, album, or envelope. I have intentionally toned, by placing on a cedar tray and leaving in a sunny window, several Eagles, and rounds. Looking at them, they look pretty "naturally toned" to me. IF I sold any, I would disclose how they were toned and let the potential buyer make the decision. I keep mine because I think they look good. "Artificially toned" Morgans, with their gaudy bright colors, are not considered desirable by regular Morgan collectors. Not only that, up until about 20-25 yrs ago "naturally toned" colorful Morgans weren't looked at with a premium, just tarnish, except for a small group. Now they get big money. I don't consider myself a snob, but I would definitely rather have a "naturally toned" Morgan than an "artificially toned" one.
Oh my
@terrificon_CT - yeah, some guy helped me with that ASM 66. 😉
Uup... saw that tic
Very nice! I just recently seen cgc now does signatures like cbcs does I don't know the cost but this is a good option that you have found 😊
Wizard shows? Like wizard magazines?
@OnionSavoya-jf5hz - yes, for several years the Shamus brothers (the Wizard magazine guys) were doing shows. They bought several shows and rebranded them to Wizard. There was a big comic show boom in the early-mid 2000s, that then retracted as the shows could not sustain themselves.
@@beav1962 I LOVED Wizard magazine though. At least before it completely sold out in those later days.
😉 "Promo sm"
How long did you keep them out on the sun?
About 6 months or so. I have had others in the sun recently and they haven't toned. I expected that the cedar tray I had them on could be helping with the acidity maybe. I may need to get some fresh cedar to put them on also.
Could you cut me a few of these stands plz I can send you funds
Beautiful dollars, sir. Thanks for sharing.
Those are both amazing! I grew up with Tom Lyle’s Robin, that’s a great example of it. I went to Terrificon this year and it was great! Definitely going next year.
Thanks, Terrificon is my home show. Its always worth going.
Wow those commissions are absolutely beautiful! Amazing work, great pickups.
Thanks, the Pittsburgh show was great back then.
How many days to get the result Brother?
If I remember correctly, several months.
@@beav1962 oh I see. Thank you for your Very informative video. :)
I put five of mine in those 2x2 holders and left the other five in the holder case.
Around 2015-16 I bought Ten 1/10 oz gold eagles from them. I received two of those five 1/10 oz coin holders. That was a great deal. An ounce af gold for less than $1300 shipped. You did the right thing and bought all you could.
Which card is it? Got a link to it? Thx
I believe it was US Bank. I do not have a link.
Wow! I wish I had a bank account to buy that now that prices are up!
Congrats! As I get older it gets harder to justify spending big bucks on books. This is a great way to build your collection!
@cougarcomics - I know what you mean. I ha e recently had a shot a ASM 4 twice. Both graded, one was 4.0, the other was 2.5 but clean. Just couldn't pull the trigger. Thanks for watching.
What a great and thoughtful gift. Congratulations. Good luck on the pending retirement too. Don't completely rule out ASM #1-5. You never know the type of deal you'll find. I know what you mean though...at some point the book is so valuable it's hard to justify keeping it.
It’s amazing. I wonder if you ever got it graded
I did.....it came back MS65 with an 80 over 79 vam. Got real lucky.
@@beav1962 That is fantastic! Glad you shared it.. It’s an amazing coin!

I firmly believe that I have the flawless collection of transformers that no one on the planet has! if you are interested!! I have 11 Cgc transformers and all of them are 10.0 super mint condition 10.0 each!!!!
Great books!
I agree I’m buying more newsstand versions now almost exclusively
What a score on that #66! I just got mine!! This book is a grail
@pcproff - Thanks...probably the biggest lucky score I will ever have. It isn't always about money, but I have tried to estimate the value based on all the unique factors and its up there.
I have 1880 Morgan dollars
You're actually suppose to collect the tough dates first, that's what all the coin professionals say, 😂. The reason is because you can run out of funds after you buy all the common dates and can't afford the tougher dates as they are much more expensive.
*Yo Genius...It's not the Sun toning your silver. It's the sulfur in the wood being cooked out by the Sun that's toning the silver. The same process takes place in a wooden box in the dark warm place. In fact, it's faster than this because the sulfurized atmosphere is contained by the box*
Thanks for the kind response. Is that the way you speak to anyone who you know more than?
@@beav1962 *Don't go all passive aggressive because you're a dumbass. Save that chit for your boyfriend. Don't expect me to apologize for your stupidity. Especially when you're making "how to" videos on the process*
Thanks for sharing your story. I just bought a 1 ounce Gold American Eagle from these folks and from order to receipt was only 5 calendar days. Ordered on Saturday afternoon online and got a call for payment info on Monday from a sales rep. The coin showed up in a similar case about the same size as yours on Thursday!!! Fastest coin delivery I ever experienced. I Paid $1840 spot price for it and that was it, no additional fees or shipping. The Coin arrived well packaged from UPS today and I had to sign for it. It came with all kinds of brochures and paperwork showing many other coins, but like you, I was only interested in the 1 American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin. I'm sure I will hear from them soon, but that is their job and when you buy coins at spot or below, you must expect that. After all, they are in business to make money. I'm very satisfied with my purchase from Nationwide Coin and Bullion Reserve, and of course I'm confident that the 2013 Eagle I got is genuine and real, but I will be taking it to my local jeweller and have him inspect it with his machines just to be absolutely sure. Also, no Credit Card or Freight Charges added to the purchase of the coin. Of course, no tax in Florida on US Coins either. I'm confident this is a loss leader, just like milk and bread in a lot of grocery stores are loss leaders for them to get people into the stores. The number of people that actually end up buying additional coins from them I'm sure cover any loss on selling coins at spot price as an intro to get folks interested in precious metals. Overall, I had a Great Experience with this company and I would do business with them again if the price is right. And not, I'm not affiliated with the company or anyone working there. Just a dude that purchased a coin, LOL.
Check out the Lighthouse ENCAP Q52 plastic pages to hold your 2x2 snap cases in an album. I have found that Wizard has the best prices.
Seems like an issue with the press. Like the books weren't left long enough and they reverted back. Very nice haul tho.
Congrats on the grades, some really nice books!
I’m also thinking of sending to pgx till the value stabilizesto cgc
If they are for your own collection, I would suggest it. If they are for resale, I understand why people wait for cgc and cbcs. The higher sales prices are hard to beat.
Sell some of the duplicate to buy the ones you don’t have. ?
I would, but I still find it hard to pay the inflated rates that 14 and 129 are getting.
@@beav1962 what if this is the lowest you’ll see before they dip ever again?
@@bobbybigfoot1163 - it's more about what I am willing to pay, what I am comfortable paying for a comic book.
@@beav1962 I can understand that. May find some good deals in the wild
Congrats on the books. They came out nice. Well done on the estimates too. It was nice to see the entire process, from you selecting the books and giving your estimates, to getting the final product in the mail.
Thanks. I'm glad it turned out well for me. BTW - I also have a pic with the big Duffman!

🖖 Still have it, still love it. I have always appreciated the detail you put into it. Thanks
@@beav1962 That makes me happy. You do a piece of art and, really in the end, that's what it's all about. You made my day. I hope you're well.
Loving the content keep making more spidey videos
Oh, yeah. I should be getting my PGX books back in a couple of weeks. I will do a vid for that, and compare my estimated grades. Thanks for watching.
What’s the mark jeweler insert ?
Mark Jeweler insert is an advertisement that was added in books, on or near military bases. They are about 5% of the total distribution for a book. I think they were around from the early 70's to the late 80's. Thanks for watching.
Wow that’s incredible. I’d like to own one. It would be amazing if I can snag a key book like a 238 with that insert but the only one I’ve seen is on eBay asking over 5 grand! You have yourself a gem there dude.
It would be interesting to have some controls, possibly one set on a plastic stand and one on glass. I expect the close proximity to the wood had a great deal to do with the effect.
I can say, that a couple years ago I put a Morgan in my safe on top of a piece of aromatic Cedar. In that time I had it inside a ziplock bag and outside a ziplock bag but always in contact with each other. I was wondering if the acids in the cedar would add to the coloring. There was no change to the Morgan, at all. I have since had a couple of minor Morgans on the shelf all summer and there was no discernable toning. Maybe it's the something about the silver in the Eagles. Thanks for watching.
@@beav1962 Fascinating. It could also be that the small amount of additional heat caused some outgassing of the wood. But I suppose if that were so you would have at least seen SOME effect on the ones in the safe.
Nice books, like cbcs slabs and their grading
Thanks...I think sometime in December I will have my PGX books back. I did a before vid, and I will put up the after. ua-cam.com/video/EcBEHDArjGU/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video........
Dude awesome toning I’m jealous!!! Haha
Nice coins you purchased.
I would clean it with soap and water and put a thin coat of clear boot conditioner on it first. Maybe bake it at 450 for an hour first to.
That ASM 66 ended up grading 9.4 white pages. Boom. Forgive the boast, but I don't get lucky much
