For whatever reason, this Harris's Sparrow decided to sing while we were observing it. Video recorded with a DSLR and a Sigma 150-600 C.

Sitting in a bird blind when this chipmunk wandered down this tree trunk. All the while chipping at another chipmunk nearby. You can hear a Red-headed Woodpeckerm Blue Jay, and House Finches and American Goldfinches in the background at a nearby feeding station.

Sedge Wrens are more often heard than seen so I thought I'd share an up close and personal view of one singing. I was with this bird for about an hour as he popped up in various places for photo ops when I finally decided someone somewhere who can't be in my shoes might get an opportunity to hear and see him!

This Willow Flycatcher and its mate were calling incessantly as they had at least two juveniles bouncing about in the brush here in Iowa. Having just moved here after 20 years in Florida it's a real treat to see an empidonax flycatcher on it's breeding grounds. I spent about 2 hours listening to, watching and photographing these birds from the comfort of my car!

What makes this so neat is that they are ACTUALLY on a cliff! It's a painstaking process, the birds scoop up some sand or mud, a little water and add it to their "condo" one dollop at a time.

Taken with my D7200 with a 300mm and 1.4 TC on a monopod on the fly. Thank goodness for youtube anti-shake fix! A pair of male Northern Flickers displaying, vying for either territory or mating rights.

Dreary conditions and high ISO but couldn't pass up the opportunity to turn on the video mode on my D7200 for this interaction. All the humming you hear is a highway in the distance.

It would seem both parents of this nest both have dark colored foreheads, possible swainsoni subspecies perhaps? Been trying to document them and their young since it's unusual for Florida.
