I'm a mother, photographer, and beginner motorcycle rider. Tag along as I try out different bikes, learn to ride, do reviews, and just have fun on two wheels!
Welcome to my channel! I'm a mother of six, photographer and beginner motorcycle rider. The purpose of this channel is to document my journey learning to safely ride a motorcycle. I'll bring you a first hand perspective of what it's like learning to ride - all the fears, challenges, close calls, and exciting milestones! And because my husband is constantly trying out different bikes, I'll also do test rides, reviews, and share my opinions on all the bikes he brings through the garage.

Best Of Jon's Moto Garage - Happy Father's Day!
MSF training/licensing programs usually start with lighter weight bikes so people can get the basics down. IMhumbleO dropping a lightweight trainer is a bucketload cheaper than repairing a dropped premium bike like sporty. A used but good running learner like a 250 of some type under 350 lbs. I bought a 250 Honda for my daughter to learn on. Sold it later for a hundred bucks more than I paid. Then, she bought a 975 nightster.
“Better than a Harley” Such an odd question considering that it isn’t even the same kind of bike or the same use case. May as well ask “is it better than an R1” or “is it better than a 1250GS” or “is it better than a Grom” This bike is 100% a reliable commuter bike. It’s a basic motorcycle. Handles better than a Harley, stops better than a Harley, better in traffic and parking lots than a Harley. More comfortable than an R1, better in the city than an R1, more reliable than an R1, cheaper to maintain than any bike listed above(except the Grom) and it far more reliable than any of the bikes listed above.
There is good n bad in forward controls.....your legs do not get stiff...better blood flow.....and the regular mid foot pegs....you can use your legs like riding a dirt bike.....use them like shocks....on forward controls you hit a pot hole...you bust yer ass.
I was the same...but you get used to the forward controls.
I like the bobber style...and the paint job is cool....what is the paint called.....mine is black and chrome...old school. The Sporty is the running and ripping bike...I prefer them over the big touring bikes.
Awesome Jackie. Your Hot
Passed MSF! My first bike was a Suzuki 125cc on the streets of Saigon, now I jumped to 900c Thruxton 🤣 If you can do this smoothly, it gives me hope ahahah
I am beginner in my 50 and bought lovely iron 883, I will keep it even if I buy something else in future.
The AC Thruxton is a bike built for purists, can´t expect it to be a last year Yamaha. Not for everyone. It´s like a 60-70´s bike with modern reliability but all the drawbacks classic bikes have about ergonomy, equipment or handling (although it does handle well) And it rusts as hell, I can tell you after 14 years of ownership. But still is the only bike I´ve have had I wouldn´t sell
ALL motorcycle are like wolves .... if they sense your fear, they'll attach ..... when you're uncomfortable, you stiffen up ... there goes control
The 1200 Thruxton is bit more agile and lighter but probably tad to much power to learn on , Triumph should do a 900 Thruxton based on the speed twin 900 (water cooled ) . The 900 water cooled is great engine nice power were you need it , it feels less peaky than the old 900 air cooled
Hi man I watched your video and honestly I would really like to sell my fat bob 114 for an FXDX like you have in your video. Is this a wise choice? I plan to do a stage 2 + cascade of sprocket.. Thanks for your review 😎✌️
Nice review! I admire your honesty.
n0w ready 4 my 5th scoot & found a 2005 Sporty 883 that i can tinker with 4 under $2k i like the machined spoke mags & back sack rack, bt wud rather hav another 1200 Sporty if i can find 1.
4th scoot was a Sporty 1200. daYum nice bike, wished i never sold it, bt the ketch sailboat was more important & cud go in places the scoot could not...
3rd scoot was a Suzuki 450 Intruder, was a very quick decent speedster, bt 50 miles 2 a gallon, 40 with yer foot in2 it. Had Harley looks.
Women who think the Warrior is super wide need a chubby boyfriend. Then the Warrior will feel just right. 😂😂
PLEASE!!! What's the brand and model of the 1200's pipe??? So beautiful!!
Try a bit more gas girl, your gonna stall it.
You need higher risers on your 883
I will get one as soon as I sell my 2009 bmw 1300s. I just love these bikes!!!
What’s the bike you were standing on ?
I aquired a 1994 1200XLH Sporty almost two years ago and i absolutely love it! The ho eymoon never ends! Never rode the Dyna though, I look forward to trying....
The way I see it, you didnt wreck and you dont have road rash. I call that a win. 🤟👍
I bet you will enjoy that bike after you have about 5 years riding other bikes that you are comfortable with. I wonder where your at with it now, some four years later.
I have the 2013 for the past 8 years and have put on 56k Miles. No issues with maintenence etc. And "Smooth" is exactly how I would describe the bike. MY INSEEM IS ONLY 29 INCHES, so I tippy toe a bit, but it is very doable.
An 883 won't stop you from doing silly things. Might as well buy the 1200. Same size, weight, and feel.
Bullshit sportster is not the best beginner bike. A good Japanese bike is the best way to go.their so much easier to get used to.
Great video!! Thanks for sharing I was a bit dumbfounded also!!
I just got a 2004 Harley sportster 883 and I love it the sound everything, the only thing I say is that I’m worried the top heavy will get the best of me, any tips on getting better with the top heaviness please and thank you?!
It’s just dangerous to start out on that big a bike.
1200 same HP as a 650 Vulcan S. Not sure a bike is for you get a Grom or Scooter.
Just start on a hayabusa
Boots??? 🙄
Hello Jackie, my opinion has nothing to do with you being a girl its the same for boy's. To become a better rider faster, get a lower, lighter bike that doesn't scare you. You'll be able to use the throttle and clutch. Keep this bike for later, maybe six months or so. Good luck and be careful.
your so cool
That bike is way too big for her. She wouldn’t be able to ride it for very long/ she is fully stretched
Ofcourse 1200!!!! 😁😁😁
You flew past the stop line, you need to be aware more.
FORGET ALL OF THAT! I have a 2013 Thruxton with 30,000 miles on it, and it is a stellar bike. Runs, Drives and Handles Great! It’s not a super sport crotch rocket… it is what it is, and it does it well. Some can’t help but complain about everything…
Wow long video and kept saying same thing over and over. Geez I was frustrated watching it lol
Thank you for your comments. I hesitate about Harley Street 750 and Kawasaki Vulcan S before your video but after I agree with you about the driving position is more comfortable in Vulcan S.. and this is the most important 🤘😎🏍💨💨Full Throttle ✊🏻💜
how tall are you?
Here for the Raw dirty details and did not leave disappointed 😊
i am glades i got the 1200 and not the 883
you need to pull the choke out and let it warm up smh
What bike is that?
Put your mirrors on top of the bars. On your 883 you will see better
Lame ass rider. Spandex, no boots, all disco, lol
*No U-turns?*
I just bought a 2009 Sport 1200 custom, only 3.5K miles on it. I am ecstatic over this bike ~ it is everything I expected and more! 5'2" tall, bought a 1" lowering bracket and my feet are planted. Love this bike ~
