~welcome to my online reading nook~
I upload variety content about:
| Books | Art | Writing |
I also love history, studying, fashion, videos games and tv :)
~~~
Some background info:
I'm currently a 2nd year university student (english and history). Ever since lockdown I've been obsessed with reading and I do my own writing whenever I'm not too busy with uni essays. I'm big into anything historical -- historical fiction, documentaries, period dramas, Austen, the Bronte sisters -- anything vaguely dark academia and I'm obsessed.
More info about my writing:
- written 7 novels
- tend to be historical fiction dramas -- not quite romances but usually with a romance sub plot
- I have no plans for attempting to publish anytime soon :)
- as of April 2023: am researching for a 1830s gothic horror, but it's slow going. actually started drafting a different gothic story i've had the idea for for some time.
you're creeping around a haunted gothic house 🕯 | *period drama soundtrack playlist*
a gothic playlist for some spooky vibes for wandering dark corridors with a flickering candle. or for just staying safely inside your room with a classic gothic romance novel. that's probably the more sensible option. 💀
I've currently been planning a victorian gothic novel and so this is perfect for me. Also walking through a hall with a candle is for some reason one of my favourite gothic tropes! I think I can blame The Secret Garden for that...
I tried including a range of gothic music. from more calm yet unsettling, to slightly silly, more lighthearted, to a bit dramatic, though my focus was on easy listening because lots of gothic music is quite unlistenable in the sense its v v dramatic because its some sort of "action" scene in the movie.
Also maybe kinda dumb but did you pick up on the slight narrative here? We have the ups and downs of a gothic novel (wandering during the day, at night, seeing a spectre, checking it with another character, and then trying to end the evil force, triumph, and then fleeing from the burning house).
images
1, 2, 7 - Crimson Peak (2017)
3, 8 - The Woman In Black (2012)
4 - The Innocents (1961)
5, 9 - Rebecca (1940)
6 - Jane Eyre (2011)
As you see Crimson Peak is great for gothic vibes. For more subtle vibes also the 2011 Jane Eyre (I couldnt use cause of copyright). More Haunted Mansion music which is a bit like a silly gothic.
I used pictures from film this time as opposed to my earlier spring playlist where i used some lovely paintings, cause I couldnt really find what I was looking for. (aka where are my girlies wandering the halls???)
my trip to a gothic country house | brief history of Tyntesfield & my writing 🖊 🌿
A chill tour of the Victorian gothic country house, Tyntesfield, in the UK. I explain some of the history of the house as well as my own reasonings for going the house including my own writings and novel. This has to be one of my favourite National Trust properties in the UK, and as I say in the video it looks quite different to most houses. I think next I want to go to Knightshayes in Devon ca...
I wish we’ll see him in esc 2025 interval.We love you Gjon❤️
Is it a large room or a regular single ? Xxx
What type of room is this? Which floor, wing, number? Oh my lord. I want this room! haha. The bed is bigger than I assumed it would be from the pictures. Your room looks soooo lovely! You truly did proof that you can make stuff look cosier and more pretty if you add a touch of authentic way of expressing yourself a bit.
Omg yessss
😍😍
omg pls post your candles diy im obsessed
2, almost 3 years later and I still miss eurovision 2021 so much... Def my favorite eurovision of all time <3 I remember how much I used to love Gjon and he's still my winner, he deserved this. Thank you for this video, bc I can recall now all passion i gave eurovision 2021, especially Gjon's Tears
Shirley was my first ever classic 😭💗💗
what a one to start with! It's challenging but i love it all the same :)
@@dawniesart5 It’s such a good book, even if I didn’t quite understand what was going on I still loved it haha 😂
We had a house similar to this outside of Philadelphia, Pa……called “Whitemarsh Hall”. It was one of the most magnificent houses ever constructed in the USA. It had a Fan Club on FB called Fans of Whitemarsh Hall. Anyone can belong. A British Interior Decorator who was commissioned by Edward VII…who ordered White Allom of 15 Hanover Square to “clean this tomb”, and so they did. Cream and gold with red carpet because the Look and spread to the USA and almost every Embassy (which were all stately homes once who were wanting just what the King had at Buckingham Palace). Eva Stotesbury want White Allom to decorate her new house in Chestnut Hill…just outside of Philadelphia where the gentle city became to be the farms and vast vast estates and Horse Farms. Whitemarsh Hall was restrained elegance. The Stotesbury’s were a fun old Set because they enjoyed their old age with money and prestige, as many wealthy lived the high life in their young years and alone and living on fumes in their latter years. It would seem the Western World is falling to the new Visigoth’s…….The new vandals of the Wokeworthington’s, and antiLevanteer’s you understand. I’m sure you do. Britain needs a rebirth and its full independence from Europe and beyond.
Your video is the best of all theTyntesfield videos because of the far away pics that look like paintings. The town I live in is called Conshohocken Pa, USA, and we have a house here that’s very similar called “Woodmont”. They too were Anglo-Catholics. Woodmont is French gothic too, and has all the spires and lightning rods that seen to accentuate the everything g they are fastened to. The house was always lived in and taken very good care of, even till today it’s now a working farm. You also keep it simple by not taking it to seriously with detailed facts. The chapel is magnificent. Check out the chapel at Clumber Park in the UK. The house is gone, but the chapel is a parish church on the Estate. It is also Anglo-Catholic. The deal is, there was a Movement at Oxford College to revive into the C of E a get back to basics and revive the page try of the early Roman Church of England. Not rejoin Rome, but just revive the splendor and reverential liturgy from before the Reformation. Henry VIII wasn’t against the liturgy (as he recieved Holy Communion every morning until his death). He didn’t like the indulgence’s put upon the poor, and the cost of visiting “shrines”. Perhaps it took away from his coffers and was envious. The divorce thing was ridiculous because he was King, and already had the power to absolve Himself. England to this day still sees itself as on its own. Brexit, which I favor, is liken to leaving the Roman Church and it’s maniacal control. The Roman was the EU of its Day. The Pope wore a three crowned Tiara….which was a Crown for Christ on Earth, a Crown for King of Kings of Europe and England, and Crown of the Church. Talk about the “razzle dazzle” of Authority and haven’t an Army to boat. That’s an incredible scam show, and Henry knew this and wasn’t fooled. England did the right thing then too. Anglo Catholic Churches are usually alway gothic, and beautifully appointed. The Queen Mother was an Anglo-Catholic. Her London parish was on Margaret Street,,,,,,All Saints maybe(?) Today unfortunately, many churches have closed, or are holding on and doing whatever the can to attract followers…like the supercilious woke nonsense, or painting the front steps with the God Awful rage. ….this too shall pass, and house like Tyntesfield and Woodmont will go on and entertain millions of gusts for centuries to come. You might superimpose your Book cover onto the video so one can take a snap pic and purchase it in future. All best wishes,
This is such an odd question but what was your room number because I really want to know if I’m gonna have a courtyard room lol and I’m trying to brake the code
From my memory the odd numbers were on the inside I think. Sorry for being a bit late, you may have already arrived!
but yeah i was very happy when i found out i faced the quadrant aha
@@dawniesart5 I am facing the library :( still really lovely. Found a way onto the roof lmao whilst exploring so cool
Hiya! I’m going to stay in founders this year and was wondering if you know which room numbers have a similar view to this one? :)
glad it was helpful!
your art is awesome and i really love your ideas i can see that your teacher led you in a similar direction that my teacher is leading me so im going to take so much inspiration from you and look at things i really love i might secretly delve back into my manga phase
thanks, I’m glad it was helpful! x
A very strange looking keyboard!
?
omg the ghosts art !!!
aha yes my lovely friend drew it for me for my birthday. I love the Captain!
Hahaha. Sorry but his staging was a little bit obvious. Nothing exceptional. Normal. Italy burn the stage that was the difference
then why are you watching this video then lmao? just to leave a hate comment? seems a bit extreme but ok
I was lost with what I should do in my gcse art sketchbook but I really wanted to incorporate anime without failing. To see that you got a high grade is inspiring me, furthermore I was fangirling when you did The Royal Tutor! I swear it doesn’t get as much attention as it should! Watching this video is making me want to buy copic markers- it’s so satisfying when artists use them✨ and you definitely deserved that 9!
Yes aha I loved the royal tutor! I need to finish the manga. Copic markers are great but expensive (cry) I think Windsor and newton ones are a little cheaper but I can’t really remember cause I haven’t used them in a while. Good luck with art GCSE!
When my names Ruby:🫥🫥
I love that scene. The way Lizzie stays so calm in the face of all those objectionable comments. And “I send no compliments to your mother”. Haha. Priceless 💎
If I have to write an email of complaint it is very hard not to include 'I am most seriously displeased!'
Aha I would love to do that
I'm so into the 2005 version that I haven't even been interested in watching the former one. But now, your illustration motivated me to do that 😂
I do love that one but the fact they have to cut so much out to fit it into a movie hurtsss. Like Mr Wickham was almost not even in it lol
@@dawniesart5 ugh, I know, right! It's always sad that movies can't be made, like, 4 hours long when they are adapted :)
I looooove Lucy and Jack's style. I just thrifted a huge jumper and thought of Lucy as I tried it on and that's exactly why I am watching this now. Lovely video!
yes their style is so casual but looks very cute and very comfy. I recently bought a big white jumper as well and my life is now complete (it also gives me Rory Gilmore vibes and Chris Evans from Knives Out)
Wow, I love it, hope to see more from you
Hi, I love how you’ve decorated your room! I’m starting at Royal Holloway next week and will be staying in the large founders room :) the website said that the bed comes with storage but it doesn’t really specify how much so I was wondering if you know what it’s like? thanks :))
you can store things under your bed because of the wooden bed frame. so that means you have a single bed's worth of storage. it's about knee high. I believe you'll also get an accent chair and coffee table :) also make sure you pack your boxes lightly, there's only 1 lift and with everyone moving in, the move might take a while, so you might end up walking up to your room
Thank you!! This was really helpful :)
what a cutie boy i love his smille 🤩
