    I used long metal tubes that slip over the trampolines tubes. I like the wood fram skirting, keeps it square.

    Thanks for mentioning removing the bolts on the one side so you can make the angle between the sides smaller. I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how everyone was getting their angle smaller but mine wouldn't close that far.

    i free range my ducks and geese. feed them only wheat as suppliment, put the wheat in water so other birds cannot get to it and waste less when the ducks and geese eat the wheat. i've tried pipes as you have and just holes into the pipes, but still waste if the feed not in water.

    Do you think your ducks will over eat? My ducks will eat all day if I'd let them. I'm trying to build a timed/automated system to limit the food portions because feed is $$$...they are pigs, haha.

    • @breezywoodshomestead5773
      @breezywoodshomestead5773 3 роки тому

      Oh yeah they are pigs for sure lol. But we actually have a cover that I use and once they’ve had they’re morning fill, we cover it up and the roam the property for a majority of the day. We’ll take the cover off in the evenings for them to eat again before covering it again over night.

      I just used a Hart brand brushless drill with 3 inch galvanized screws. I had to pre-drill holes in the metal tubing so that the screws went through easily

    This was a fantastic use and amazing for how inexpensive it was! I am considering going on a hunt for a futon frame now... How has it held up over the last year?

    • @breezywoodshomestead5773
      @breezywoodshomestead5773 3 роки тому

      Thanks! It’s been great! I’m very surprised with how well it has held up. I’m actually in the process of doing our second futon to use as a hay feeder in one of our pastures. One of the things I was worried about was it eventually getting rust but thankfully it hasn’t even done that. I highly recommend finding a futon and doing this idea. Very inexpensive and it looks and works like one of those expensive ones from local feed stores.

    • @breezywoodshomestead5773
      @breezywoodshomestead5773 3 роки тому

      No the pipe was too thin and was clogging up in the corner. But we made another one using 4" pipe and it works like a charm! The ducks eat it away and is just falls through and refills itself!

      Just make sure you have something handy to cover it on rainy days so the feed doesn't get wet.

    She is a cutie and I love her name. You might want to contact Adler Farms. Their guardian dog Smoky isn't that old and Chad loves on him a lot. He will have some good ideas for you to follow with your journey with Piper. I was going to tell you that you will need to move her cage often in case she pottys in there. But you said that already. As she grows she will get used to all of the animals. And along the way the animals will get used to her being there. Are you trying to tell us that you washed your mouth and you can't do anything with it. LOL

    • @breezywoodshomestead5773
      @breezywoodshomestead5773 3 роки тому

      Yes she is absolutely adorable! But thank you for the reference! I will definitely look them up and see if I can get some advice from Mr. Chad! As of right now she is being introduced to all of the animals daily and we are moving the cage daily as well. She is a funny little one. She likes to chase the goats around and play with them lol she things she’s big and tough!

    May I suggest that you put a platform under it so he can't tear it off the tree. Screw three boards together. Take a 3 pieces of 2x4 stand one piece upright screw another one to the top then screw the last one to the top of that so it fits against the tree short ways. Put it up against the tree under the bucket and screw it into the tree; it will have one leg to hold the bucket up. I hope that makes sense.

    The green webbing is from big rounds of hay or straw. To make sure you don't have more stuck in the ground you will need to till up the ground. So, your uncle or someone had animals on the land way before you all.
