Thanks bro... For such valueable content.. (Android) I have a problems about sharing links.. Actually whenever I share any web link to obsidian it's say choose file. I make a folder 'link ' for that purpose but every time I have to navigate there to place the link through "chose folder option" is there any option or CSS, plugin to pin that folder there.... PLEASE bro if possible tell me
No. Frickin. One. can claim to be an "expert" on his own. If you run into something who does, you probably have run into an imposter. You are NOT an expert until someone else says you are.
You're giving the internet access to your computer with this plugin, and there's no security information on the website at all. It used to be open source, but it's not anymore according to their terms and conditions. They do have a privacy policy, and it's horrible. They claim they monitor your usage, they claim they can keep that data forever, and can share that data with anyone. Collaborating in Obsidian would be great, but not on these terms.
Hi, I am the author of peerdraft. I do not share any data with anyone and of course I will delete your data, if you request it. As I am obliged to do under GDPR. I understand your frustrations about the privacy policy. I will see if I can update it in a way that better represents the situation and is also legally sound. Let me know, if you want to know any details.
@@schlundd Thank you, that would be great. It's not just about the privacy policy though. You open a port to someones vault, and therefore their computer. This is a huge potential security breach. Your website doesn't say anything about security measures, and it should. Third: I would be very interested to hear why you stepped away from open source software. I do understand that developing software is a very different kind of beast as all this "fuzz" around it. But it's mighty important, and you need to give people reasons to trust you.
Hi, Dee you can just use - YYYY-MM/gggg-[W]ww and it should add it in the right folder automatically, same for the daily notes - YYYY-MM/YYYY-MM-DD
super!!👍

Thanks for the kind words! My your kin have all the carrots they desire.
Doesnt work
Great video! This is a nice way of explaining this problem with a digital zettelkasten that I have also come up against. I had one question though, how on earth are you pulling the Log Entries with #on/productivity or #on/parkinsons automatically into the MOC or NOTE templates? I understand how to use dataview + templater file name code to pull the [[]] links based on the title, but how does this work with your second list of #on tags as well?
Hi there! Good question. For the Dataview you would need to specify what tags you are looking for. ```dataview TASK WHERE icontains(text, this.file.name) AND icontains(text,"#YOUR-TAG-HERE") GROUP BY file.name as filename SORT filename DESC ``` So this is not 100% automatic.
Is there a way to directly export apple health data to obsidian so all my sleep, excercise, etc goes automatically registered to obsidian?
There is always a way, but none that I had time to research yet...
31:20 what would be the benefits of having inline properties? I mean, wouldn't this work if Participants were a frontmatter property list, for example? I've just installed Obsidian and binging videos made a while ago, so I'm a bit late to the party.
Absolutely no difference between the two and completely up to your preference. My latest videos are mostly using front-end-matter because it looks "cleaner" to me. But again, up to you :)
To whom it may concern - if you would like to avoid your tasks to be striken through (if that's an expression) you can add to your CSS the following: body { --checklist-done-decoration: none; }
Thanks for posting additional information that might help people. Another option, if you have the minimal theme, is to download the “style settings” community plugin > minimal > list and tasks > uncheck “strike completed tasks”
@@construct_by_dee Nice, even better, I struggle with CSS .D

@@construct_by_dee Breaks my whole page I just had to resort to a dataview code
Love this format of video ✨ #question: What is a 'sprint' in your system? I see you use #log/sprint a lot but I don't understand what it is 🤔
Hi there! A "sprint" represents any effort you put into something, no matter how small. When you work on something, log it with a tag like #log/sprint (or another name that fits, such as #log/effort). This creates a breadcrumb trail of all the steps you took to complete a project, allowing you to review your progress and the effort involved. For activities like exercising, use tags like #log/exercise/gym, #log/exercise/run, or #log/exercise/yoga. These logs work similarly, showing the actions you've taken toward a goal. By connecting these tags to a project or Home Page, you can see all your efforts in one place. Hope that helps! :)
Can sombody share me the gihtub link to the template?
The best video i found about obsidian in general. Congrats man u really have something special to teach!
Thanks for the kind words! <3
How did you get the dataview of those logs to look like that? Is it a theme?
I assume that it might be custom style of checkboxes in "Tasks" community plugin
What part of it? For the general theme I use Minimal Theme. For the tasks to have the dot in the middle (logs) I created a custom CSS snippet.
@@construct_by_dee Would you please share your custom snippet for the dot in the middle of checkboxes?
@@WT.Mean1539 Sure :) - this only works on reading mode unfortunately: li.task-list-item[data-task="."] { position: relative; padding-left: 3px; /* Adjust this value as needed */ } li.task-list-item[data-task="."] .task-list-item-checkbox::after { content: ''; /* Necessary for generating a pseudo-element */ display: block; /* Turns the pseudo-element into a block for easier size and position control */ width: 20px; /* Width of the checkbox, can adjust if necessary */ height: 20px; /* Height of the checkbox, can adjust if necessary */ position: absolute; /* Allows precise positioning */ left: 50%; /* Moves the center of the icon to align with the text */ top: 50%; /* Center vertically relative to the list item */ transform: translate(-50%, -50%); /* Perfectly centers the checkbox both horizontally and vertically */ -webkit-mask-image: url('data:image/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciIHdpZHRoPSIyNCIgaGVpZ2h0PSIyNCIgdmlld0JveD0iMCAwIDI0IDI0IiBmaWxsPSJub25lIiBzdHJva2U9ImN1cnJlbnRDb2xvciIgc3Ryb2tlLXdpZHRoPSIyIiBzdHJva2UtbGluZWNhcD0icm91bmQiIHN0cm9rZS1saW5lam9pbj0icm91bmQiIGNsYXNzPSJsdWNpZGUgbHVjaWRlLWRvdCI+PGNpcmNsZSBjeD0iMTIuMSIgY3k9IjEyLjEiIHI9IjEiLz48L3N2Zz4='); /* SVG icon */ -webkit-mask-size: cover; /* Adjust if the icon needs to fill the space more or less */ background-color: #yourBulletColor; /* Directly set the background color */ }
Hey, @construct_by_dee Is this based on your Evergreen Vault? Is the Evergreen Vault in your page/shop already 2.0? If I may, it would be very informative to have more information visible on your product's pages like version, last updated, etc. I forgot to say that your videos have been very helpful, much appreciated!
Heya @construct_by_dee, how did you set up the calendar view links for next and previous days in the daily notes template? Is that a plugin?
Hi there! I use Journals Community Plugin for that functionality. You can see the set-up in my work-vault video setup.
Clear demonstration! I had a question though, I made a custom css for a callout, and it shows it the correct way in editing mode, but in reader mode, it just dissappears, do you maybe have an idea why?
That does happen yes. My advice would be to put it through chatGPT to create snippets for both reading and editing mode.
Good tutorial, thank you. I have 2 questions, please. Question A- at 17:19, you install the "Heatmap Calendar" plugin. Why then, in the bonus chapter, are you using another plugin called "Contribution Graph" ? And question B- whichever is used, are they meant to replace the Calendar Graph in the Stats of the weekly/monthly etc reviews ? Thank you.
Was about to ask the same question.
As the note name is a true file name then 'special characters are excluded... BUT in the metadata, there is also 'Title' as a given field, which 'normally' is just the front of the file name copied. ( See the new-ish Obsidian clipper, which does this), you can then use 'special characters' in Title, especially "?" as many 'clipped' titles are actually questions. Nice show of some minimal automation, but useful 'time' saved, etc., etc.
Brother thank you so much for this amazing content your channel is so addictive
Hi, interesting hack, can you give an info or your thought what happen when the Person is changing the company? Do we see then still all the meetings at the right place or old meetings at a new company? And your videos are really good explained.
Hi there. That is a limitation of this functionality for now. I would build in another property for "past companies". Will try to find code that might work for this.
Hi. Really good video as usual but wanted to ask a question. Having set this up, and it works just as described I get multiple entries in the table for the company if there is more than 1 participant from that company attending, do you have a work around for this?
You found a “consideration” point that I missed! I spent a couple of hours trying to change the code to remove the duplicates - no luck. Will get back to you once I have code that fixes this! Thanks for informing me 🙏
Free membership to whoever solves this puzzle 😉
After countless hours I finally got the code to fix this bug! 🥳🥳🥳 Here you go: ```dataview table max(rows.created) as "Created", join(unique(rows.participants), ", ") as "Participants", join(unique(rows.participantLinks.company), ", ") as "Companies" FLATTEN participants as participantLinks WHERE contains(tags, "#type/meeting") AND contains(participants.company, this.file.link) GROUP BY file.link SORT max(rows.created) ASC ```
@@construct_by_dee Hi, that’s great and sorry to trouble you. Many thanks for the all you effort
Fantastic video and walkthru of how the workflow begins from the daily note. I watched the walkthru and bought the vault. Aside from a few tweaks I made to fit my needs, I can't seem to figure out why tasks aren't showing up on the daily note--especially tasks I create the same day. I copied the format per the vault and double checked from your walkthru..still no dice...any idea what I am doing wrong with this snippet from my daily note template below? I think the icontains text with the "#task" is causing the issues. I tried swapping out text with tags too..but can't seem to get it to pull. Will continue to try and do some digging. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! ```dataview TASK WHERE !completed AND icontains(text, "[[<% moment(tp.file.title, 'YYYY-MM-DD').format("YYYY-MM") %>") AND icontains(text, "#task") GROUP BY file.name as filename SORT rows.file.ctime DESC ```
Hi there. Sorry you are having issues. Can you paste what the dataview snippet looks like on an actual daily note? (the one you shared is from the template which hasn't been activated yet)
@ apologies, thought I responded, but I am not seeing the comment. ```dataview TASK WHERE !completed AND icontains(text, "[[2024-11") AND icontains(tags, "task") GROUP BY file.name as filename SORT rows.file.ctime DESC ``` I ended up replacing text with tags and removed the hashtag. Now it seems to be working. Excited to start using the meetings and creating projects with work this week. The MOCs you use are so clutch. Love those. I may also create a dupe of the projects template and make it geared for events, which is what I do for work with company, people, and budget properties
I bought you for a coffe already. How to I hide Project Template in Project MOC ?
ya, I fixed it !"5 templates"
How about vault for books and knowledge management w/ many many key concept, or formula from books? Sir?
Hi there! not sure what you mean? A vault for reading? Or a vault for capturing information from what you read? Glad you figured out the issue you had :)
Could you guide us build MOC like MOC recipie cooking i watched that video but can’t understand how to build moc from log
Avaults caputure information. To management knowledge
I'm a long time supporter. Thank you for the continued valued and updated version! Periodic Notes has been replaced by Journals from what I've gathered.
Hi friend, Thank you for this video informative video. If you could clarify for me, I am getting hung up on the linking the completion date of a task for it to populate in task view on the daily log page. I understand the task query, however I don’t understand how to link the completion date.
Hi there. Could you provide more information? You want to see the completion date of a task? Meaning you created a task on say 2024-01-01, and you want to see what day it was completed by? For instance - [ ] #task I need to make a new-years resolution list On 2024-01-02 when you completed it, what do you want to task to look like? Something like this? - [X] #task I need to make a new years resolution (completed 2024-01-01) You can either fill it in manually - OR use the "Tasks" community plugin which has an automate date completion function.
Very helpful content as always. You have completely changed my vault these past couple of months. Thank you!
Such a lovely comment! Thanks! and good luck!
I see in your video when you first start the weekly template, there is a error for your start date format not matching... I am getting the same error, but can't find in your video where anything changed. What am I missing?
I also copied everything you did for the wheel of life and nothing shows up for the pie pieces. Love your video and how you explain everything! Just seem to be missing a few pieces.
Hi there. Do you mind giving the time when you see this error?
Try closing and re-opening the weekly note you created to see if the pie pieces shows op (equivalent of switching it off and on 😅). Sometimes the code need to re-run to be activated. If this doesn't work, feel free to share the code you used and I'll try and brainstorm with you.
Very slick. I have been meaning to start using scripts, but hadn't gotten around to it. Now I have an excuse to do. Thanks!
Nice idea! Thank you for the content!
Fantastic, it's work perfectly ! I will make some similar scripts for other notes. Than you
Welcome back!
Until Alice moves companies then everything is fked.
Was just about to call that out. Same goes with enterprises and people switching teams within them.
Yes, that was one of the considerations mentioned in the video. This example was the simplest way to demonstrate the functionality, though I hope people can find even better use cases for it. One that comes to mind is for writing novels. For instance, imagine a character belonging to a specific race (elves, dwarfs, humans, etc.). This might be a more fitting example since a character's race typically doesn’t change. Using Dataview queries, you could pull up all scenes featuring dwarfs without needing a separate metadata field like 'races in this scene.' Instead, it would indirectly retrieve it based on characters listed in the 'character' metadata field. If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them! ;)
I started exploring obsidian in August. Started to try to transition, getting sidetracked at times. I was a little lost until I realized you need to identify workflows and find good ways to support those workflows via carefully constructed definitions / templates/ etc. Of all the content on youtube, this has certainly be the most helpful channel to get myself into obsidian. I watched all the videos on this channel, more than once. Much appreciate you sharing this Dee. This is amazing and is cool to see how you evolved/improved your setup over time.
Thanks for the praises! And good luck with the journey. <3
Can you elaborate on why you put quotes around your type tag, "#type/daily-note" and not just type/daily-note?
Hi there. If you are in editing mode - you need to make sure it is in the same format that the metadata property expects - in this case it is "#type/daily-note". If you are in reading or live-preview, it is not necessary to type the quotes and #. Hope that answers your question :)
Great explanation. How do you feel about using classes rather than exclusively tags? For example could you have a note of class "meeting" (type) with "subject" property. Would that add any value?
Great question! I tried that for a couple of months and found that it works exactly the same as using a tag. The reason I switched to using only tags is two-fold: I aim to keep my vaults as simple as possible, and using tags for everything is easier to explain to people who are just starting with Obsidian. I prefer a clean workspace, and adding an extra metadata property felt like unnecessary clutter. Ultimately, it's a matter of personal preference. I encourage you to try using classes for a few weeks or months to see if they work for you. :)
@@construct_by_dee Thanks that makes sense. I'm looking forward to using the Logredis methodology.
Awsum overview! Just implemented an iteration of the #log/sprint and LOGREDIS system into my project management workflow. That was exactly what it needed. thanks for your efforts. Just shouted you a coffee. looking forward to future demos!!!
I'm very excited to see how the log/sprint system treats you! Please come back here after a couple of weeks to tell me if it served its purpose or if you feel that there is something missing. Thanks for the support. I'll teach my hounds to howl your name every full moon.
@construct_by_dee So far so good. It's made a mega improvement to my workflow. I mainly used my daily note as a task list. A month or two before watching your video I was writing a `ShutDown`at the end of each day to summaries what I did and what should be planned next. The problem with that, was that I was struggling to keep track of my last effort of work. Having to dig into daily notes from days or weeks past was a massive time waster! Now that all my log/sprints are automatically rendering in it's related work package / task note - I am Just more ontop of my planning and able to recall past work much more efficently. For fleeting notes, I created a log/fleeting template. This works much better than creating an individual fleeting note as I did in the past, cause I can just straight away log it in my daily note and link it to the project notes it relates to. Now just go to workout what to do with several years of untouched fleeting notes.. maby just got to feed em to the dogs.. Perfect system! dope!
Yes! works like a charm. So much easier to recall prior work now that it's getting called up in the relevant project notes. I also made a log/fleeting template.
hey man, love your video. I bought the demo vault, however the logredis in the weekly, monthly an yearly Highlights and Day reviews callouts seem to not work. It does not give me any kind of error, it just says "no results for task query". Any clues on why this is happening?
Hi there! Could you elaborate on which pages you see this error? As well as the code block? The query will only work once you "created" the note and you won't see anything in the templates. Please send me a mail if this issue persist then we can find a solution together :)
@@construct_by_dee Yup that was the issue, thank you for the response!
Never came across such a detailed video. Thank you so much!!!
Glad it was helpful!
So if I understand things correctly, you have to use ```dataview with the back ticks, but you have to put a > in front of it to prevent it from becoming a code block, because if you don't put the > there, it doesn't stay inside the callout? And I see some dataview blocks where every line has a > and some that don't. For example, the Tasks callout on the daily note template only has the > on the opening and closing ```. There are others, however, that have the > on every line. That is not entirely necesary, right? Just on the dataview line? Also, some blocks have a closing ```, and some don't. I imagine since code block formatting is being escaped on the first line, that you don't need that last ```, right? I'm seeing this on the daily template, where On This Day and Notes Created This Day only have the opening ```, but the Tasks one has both opening and closing ```. Just trying to wrap my head around all this.
You got this exactly right. And maybe I should be more consistent so it is easier to understand - but sometimes my laziness pops through ;)
Where can I get the code for templates?
You can buy the demo vaults here www.constructbydee.com/services.
Is there a way to automate the data fields for the wheel of life? Like entering 10 somewhere automatically fills it in there?
There is by ways outside of Obsidian (VStudio and python). I'm still researching if there's a community plugin that can help do it "in-house". Will let you know once I've found it.
I'm having an issue with the 'on this day' in the daily note, it lists just all the notes in the referenced folder, not just those with matching MMDD; any ideas?
Sometimes Obsidian has a little bit of a bug. The good old "close and re-open" it seem to do the trick for this error. Or you can reload the app by clicking CMD+P and typing and selecting "Reload app without saving" Hope this helps, if not, let me know and I'll brainstorm with you. <3
After you create the Daily Note Template where does the code come from? Mine is just blank.
Hi there. Do you mind to elaborate on your problem?
@@construct_by_dee My problem was simple. I had no idea how Obsidian worked and didn't realize I had to manually type it in, and that you pasted it in there in the video. I've since fixed that by doing a little investigation.
@@Pteromandias Obsidian does have a steep learning curve and I remember the frustration I had as well! Glad you are managing. I'm here if you get stuck with anything else :)
Where have you been all this time?
Sitting in a cubicle making sure it is a bad day to be an excel spreadsheet ;)
