Corolla Beach
Corolla Beach, NC is paradise and only accessible by 4 wheel drive up the beach. We took a jeep up the beach and share with you the remote beauty and wild horses. Flew the drone too so you can see the area from a birds eye view. Hope you enjoy!

toddandisabelle.com - toddandisabelle - This video shows how easy it is to load our mountain bikes on the back of our Winnebago Travato 59G and shows how we used one of the kayak racks to hold our paddle boards. It's so easy one person can do it alone. Check it out! Visit our website for more videos, pictures and detailed information and on Facebook.

❤Thank you for sharing love you all God bless you
Ha! We just camped in that very first campsite you showed. Campground was full mid March. The campsite on the other side of the loop backs up to this one. Not so private. Soooo many people; so many dogs; so many loose dogs on the beach. Looks nice in this video. Now picture it packed with rvs…
That house that sits ON the beach is so funny to me. Like how did they get permission to build there since thats technically a road? The property owners must have owned that for a long time
Outstanding video- subscribed- drop by my channel and hit the subscribe button- it will be greatly appreciated
Awesome video!! I came across your video while searching Corolla. I am going down at the end of this month. Do you have to drive far up that beach to see the horses? We are guessing that the tours will not be running due to 'Rona and not sure the car we rented will do the drive on the sand.
It is quite the drive. The first mile or so on the beach is a no-stopping zone. All the houses etc. are farther north and that's where you can drive up over the dunes into the trails. Sometimes you will see them playing in the water and other times you have to get up in the trails to see them. I think you may find a tour. Pretty sure you can also rent a jeep to go up there on your own. It's a pretty amazing place. Enjoy and best of luck. You definitely want a vehicle that has 4 wheel drive. That sand can get pretty soft in places. Also watch out for stumps sticking up out of the sand. That first mile has the remnants of an ancient cypress forest and the stumps can sneak up on you.
@@toddricks3595 Cool thanks for the info
What year was this filmed? Awesome video!
That was 2016. Thanks! If you've never been you should go sometime. It is pretty amazing.
I did not know there are wild horses there. Your video camera takes great videos. What brand did you use? Keep the fun going!
We used a gopro and a dji drone. Crazy how good the video is on these small, relatively inexpensive devises. This is such a great beach area. The road ends in Corolla and from there the only access is up the beach. Once you enter that area there are houses in the dunes and the horses wandering freely. I've seen them playing in the ocean as well. It's a pretty wonderful experience. Hope you get a chance to go sometime.
We went there in August 2019 ,It's a very nice place, We took the tour up the see the wild horses.Nice video with a very good perspective.
thanks
The drone vid really puts it in perspective, so enjoyed the ride!! Thanks so much for uploading, relaxing to watch and listen to.
thanks
Hey there, great video! I looking to go in the fall when its a bit cooler. I vlog about my hikes from all over Virginia if your ever interested in checking it out sometime. Happy hiking!
Where is the Corolla
My favorite vacation location :)
Wish you would do a video on how to load and unload the kayak by yourself. That's what I'm dealing with.
Nice video! Love the OBX! love filming it via a drone too!
Nice video! I love this place my favorite place to visit! I did a similar video this year in October! Feel free and check it out!
I'm here now with a four wheeler, do u know if I can get a permit to ride. It's Sunday night and it's killing to know. I brought it from Ohio. Always been a dream to ride along the ocean.
Mike Belmonte is it an ATV or a 4 wheel drive road certified vehicle. I don't know the rules around an ATV but I don't think they are allowed. For a 4 wheel drive vehicle you don't need a permit in Corolla. You would in Hatteras National Seashore but not Corolla. Go have fun! Enjoy
Only certain vehicles are allowed, I believe this may be allowable for up to a few hours, its $50 for ten days
Two years after the fact is a little late, but if you're out there again, the 4x4 beaches north of Corolla (Swan Beach, Carova Beach, Penny's Hill, etcetera) are open to 4wd licensed vehicular traffic with licensed drivers, no permit required. However, for an ATV you must be a property owner in the 4x4 beach area. ATV's from away are not permitted, and Currituck County's finest are on the beach, they will ticket you. Outsiders ruined it for us all getting carried away, trespassing and being a nuisance so now only property owners can get an ATV permit. There was a time when there were dune buggies, sand rails and dirt bikes up there but no more. It's all been constrained. Stay on the roads and lanes, don't go hooning around back in the dunes.
Excellent video and information in both the video and comments as well. Should qualify you for a discount. Well done. Take care.
you should see Hunter springs Park now...it's been totally renovated and you have to feed a meter to park... volleyball court is gone...they screwed it up.
Awesome!! Hope to do that first walk-thru in a Travato within a few months. Leaning towards the K as I will stay out 1-2-3 months at a time and am thinking the "kickback" space is a bit more favorable for me in the K. It's now a year after you posted the video... hope it is still working well for you!!!
Any suggestions on the best campsites for tents? By the beach and to kayak?
Look into renting the cabins.
Did you have any favourite sites? Looking to book two sites for 2 wks in early August this year. Coming from Canada. We've previously stayed at Cape Henlopen in DE and Assateague Island in MD so really love the DE/MD/VA/NC coast.
I guess that depends on whether you are staying in a tent or an RV and depends on the size of the RV too and maybe number of guests. If you give me a few more details I will try to help out.
My husband and I have a very basic a-line camper with just a bed/table and fridge. If we have an electric site, we would use it for the fridge but it's not necessary. We would be on one site while our friends would be on one nearby. They have a basic pop-up camper with 2 beds. It's two adults and two kids (ages 9 & 7) on their site. They don't need electric at all.
Our camper is only 9ft in length
www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/document/fl-campground-map.pdf This link has a map of the campground. Our favorite area would be sections C or D on the beach. C10 is awesome! I'm sure C14 and D2,4,7 and 11 would be great too. Even the ones not on the beach are pretty awesome. Many are in the dunes with lots of privacy and room for enjoyment. The only ones I would probably avoid if possible would be the ones that back up very closely to Shore Drive since you will probably hear traffic through the night. Hope that helps. There are tons of things to do in VA Beach. If you bring bicycle there is a trail through the park that you can ride all the way to the oceanfront. It's a beautiful park. The Osprey trail runs along Broad Bay and has high dunes falling to the water with trees covered in Spanish moss. It's a great hike and few people venture there so the beach there is often all yours. Hope you guys have fun. If you need any more pointers or ideas of things to do let me know. I'm sure you will have a blast
Great video - thanks for sharing. I am looking to purchase a Travato in the next few weeks. Do you have the Graphite without Graphics (I don't see the Travato name on it)? I love it that way!
Thanks! It is the graphite without graphics. It says Winnebago and travato on the back of it but it's hardly noticeable. Unfortunately we are selling ours if you are interested in buying this one. Things just changed and we haven't been able to get the time to use her like we had hoped. It's only got 7000+ miles and looks brand new. Also comes with an 84 month extended warranty. Thanks for checking out our videos.
awesome video. watched several corolla beach cruise vids, but this one is great with the perspective of the drone combined with the video mounted on the jeep.
bsleeper9178 thanks!
Whats your clearance with the toys on the roof?
I think we figured it was 11'4"
Could you carry the boards or the kayak inside while travelling? Is there enough room?
There is plenty of room inside when traveling for the boards and bicycles and probably enough for the kayak too. In response to your earlier question, we have had no problems with items on the roof and have hit over 100mph for extended periods. lol.
We absolutely love ours. Unfortunately it looks like we are going to have to sell it. My work has gotten crazy lately and we just can't find time to use it and it makes no sense to own it if it is just going to sit here. I am sure you will love the Travato. I have a work truck with the same chassis and love it, that's what led us to buy the Travato. Best of luck!
Wow you have lots of toys. Have you encountered any problem with so many things mounted on the roof?
just show it.
was this off season? seemed empty, hard to believe such a pretty place in the middle of heavy development/city.
It was. The park was only open for the beach access but not for camping. We felt it was a great opportunity to get a good look at the park without intruding on guests. LOL
cool
Do the bikes interfere with the backup camera?
A little bit but not so much that you can't still make do.
She said, "Holy Smokies":. I like it and I'm gonna start using it. Thanks.
Dude, why are you playing that cheese music so loud while you are talking? Would rather hear what you have to say. I'm not even gonna bust on you about the bed head. I am soooo jealous of that cool RV. Rock on!
Great video!! Very well done and informative... We love First Landing but have never camped there before, we will check that out hopefully this summer
awesome setup.
Thank you so much for this video
Nice, got my 59G last week, what a great rig. Did you have any challenges already? I had a small roof leak through the maxxair vent during a heavy storm and the alignment seems just a bit off during driving. Curious how your first month went..
+Dirk Vdraadt Congratulations on your new rig. We haven't had any issues. No leaks or alignment issues. So far it's been perfect. Actually, I noticed that one of the screws in the kayak rack is broken. I need to take it back to the dealer to get it fixed. Other than that it's been great.
good video how long does the hot water last when you showering thanks
+dgkushi We usually boondock on the road so our showers are mostly short "get wet, soap, rinse" showers so we are probably not the best to ask. I will say the water heater is way nicer than the others I have seen in RV's. It doubles as the space heater and works with either propane or electric for both water and space heating. It's also automatic ignition so there is no pilot to light or worry about being blown out while driving down the road. It's only a 10 liter tank (2.64 gallons). The digital control allows you to choose between 104 and 140 degree water temp so that will make a difference on how long it lasts. At 104 you don't need any cold water mixed with it to shower. 140 you could mix cold water and get a longer shower. Hope that helps. It's a great RV and very well designed all the way around.
Great video...thanks for sharing!!! We're going to First Landing in May and staying in one of the cabins...can't wait!!!
+Bernie Brandle Thanks Bernie! I have a web page about first landing on our website and will hopefully have more pictures put up this weekend. As soon as the weather permits we hope to shoot some video at 64th street entrance and will put it up here for you to see. First Landing is an excellent park. Thanks for the comment!
+toddandisabelle You're welcome!!! One question, the trail at the end of your video, which trail is that? Want to make sure we hike that one. Also, have you gone to the Virginia Aquarium? We're thinking of going there as well and just wanted to know if it's worth it. I bookmarked your webpage and look forward to following your adventures!! Also, I don't know if you've ever been there or not, but Point Lookout State Park in Maryland is really nice...it's where the Potomac meets the Chesapeake...we camped there a few years ago and loved it...has lots of history, too!!!
+Bernie Brandle I haven't been to the Virginia Aquarium in years and I know a lot has changed. They now have a zip line adventure park there. I'm sure it will be worth the visit. The trail at the end of the video is the section of Bald Cypress directly behind the trail center. My favorite is where Long Creek Trail runs from White Lake trail to Osprey trail along the waters edge. You can climb down sand cliffs to a sandy beach, plop down a towel and have a picnic and most often you will be all by yourself. It's a long walk though so be prepared. Also, on Fort Story which is an Army base right next to First Landing, towards the oceanfront, there is a great lighthouse. It's the original Cape Henry lighthouse and you can go up to the light inside it via the spiral steps. I haven't been there in a while either but it's pretty cool. If you are interested in a restaurant with some pretty good seafood and a great atmosphere check out Chicks Oyster bar. www.chicksoysterbar.com/ It's huge and always a lot of fun. We usually bypass the hostess and head to the Marlin Club which is all the way to the right when you go into the restaurant. Just walk in like you own the place and as soon as you get past the hostess turn right and keep walking. You will go through a door to the outside and up steps into the tiki bar, from there on you can seat yourself on the docks and watch the boats pass under the sunset while you eat and sip a beverage. If you decide to go for a little finer dining then One Fish Two Fish is fantastic. Chicks is more laid back. And if it's raining go to Havana on Great Neck Rd. (only because they don't have outdoor seating and the food is always spot-on). If you bring bicycles you can ride from your cabin to the oceanfront. It's not a bad rid and I'm sure you would enjoy it. We ride it every chance we get in the summer. When you get in town, if you want to meet at Chicks for a drink let me know. Isabelle and I rent one of our rooms out on AirBnB and we are always taking guests there. Best of luck and hope you have a great trip. If I think of anything else I'll let you know and if yo have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
+toddandisabelle Thanks for all the great info, really appreciate it.
Hi Bernie! We are thinking of staying in a cabin this summer. May I ask what you thought of the cabin experience? Thank you!
