That engineer was an animal dragging that LDH
I called him a “Sled Dog”
I am watching from Elmira NY it is a big one
Here is Gary Indiana, If vacant /abandoned with no exposure problems, They let it burn down "Controled burn" On average we have 5 structure fires daily With over 10K vacant houses in the city of Gary Gary Indiana fire department is under staffed and ill-equipped and over utilized and under paid. But when it comes to occupied dwellings, They are hard Chargers and use aggressive tactics Many of the firehouses are uninhabitable and companies are working out of pole barns or temporarily housing within local businesses
Good job guys. My old dept would have had 3 personnel( 2 of them chief and assistant chief) on a brush rig and an engine for that fire, and mutual aid minimum 15 minutes away! Proper IC is a pipe dream sometimes. Armchairs would have had a lot more to say about us than they do about you!
Great job y'all!
What does MLK have to do with this fire ?
It was on MLK Street
Both those houses are just a pile of dry tinder and this team knocked the fire down fast enough that the exposure house didn't burn down. Great job.👍
One thing that I have noticed in these comments. Every negative comment is from someone that doesn't have a clue of small departments and below minimum staffing. Small departments, such as this one, don't have an endless amount of fire personnel on scene. In this department, it's usually 10 guys on scene. That includes IC and pumping engineer. That leaves 8 guys to attack the fire, establish water supply, suppress the fire, primary search, secondary search, protect exposures, salvage and overhaul, load hose, and prepare for the next scene. Rehab? Yeah thats funny! You just, suck it up, change bottles and get back to work. You just hope like hell that you get a break between calls. Most of these guys would work circles around a lot of big department guys. Also, when did a fire scene become cut and dry, by the book events. Every fire scene that I have been on are fluid and constantly changing. I'll take this "Circus" of dependable guys that I know will have my back, no matter the situation, any day. Critiques are great. That's how you learn and improve. Negative comments show either your ignorance or inexperience. So please, tell me the "serious issues" or the "pathetic" parts of this video that you fire fighting gods see.
Who gives a f learn how to use what u got
Pretty good reaction time and time to water on the fire for a small-town dept. Looked darn hot from the outset and therefore difficult to get the water to have much impact initially.
Great video, good job. New something like this on Texas side. Major auto wrecks as well.
Yall love being keyboard warriors huh. Respect the firefighters instead of being ignorant.
Ok Who’s the Black Cloud 🌧️ on the Shift 😅
I found the "Bubba commands" hilarious - skull drag that hose instead of hand jack it. Kidd get in that house instead of do a primary search on the Bravo 1 exposure. Imprecise commands are extremely dangerous
Are you stupid? He told “Kidd” to go into the exposure and search, that’s what he did, did you not watch the vid? How stupid can you be lmao
Kidd is the guys name and fire service doesn't have a universal language.
@cmckee7904 Chief, it was clear that Kidd was his name. But "get in that house" was an ambiguous and dangerous order, whether you believe there is a universal language or not.
We talk and understand a little differently down here. I can see your point about being ambiguous from the outside looking in. We are a very small department. We have 18 guys on shift including BC. We work with each other so much that we know what the order is. Get in that house means, breach the exposure, conduct a search, and check for fire extension. Get in there and do what you know is supposed to be done. All three of those jobs are yours unless you find something. Communicate what you find. It may have appeared a certain way but I can assure you. That crew is very competent and good at what they do. No, I'm not on that crew but have worked with them all.
@cmckee7904 exactly and TXK Tx FD is always ready to assist TXK Ar if needed. I live close to texarkana and both states have great fire academies.
One minute and 28 seconds away....and that fire is that engulfed...How long did it take before anyone called the fire dept. Who was the BIG TOP RING MASTER....?? cause it was a circus to watch....
The house was vacant, and it looks like the one next to it might be, too.
Good save
WTF Did they save ?? Their job ?
@@davecruz9893👈🐀
@@davecruz9893 the house was a total loss before they got there. It was probably about 75-80% involved upon arrival. Then, it takes time to put the fire out.
It's a shame so many departments loose their deck guns !
True. Back when I started in 1990, every fire engine had a deck gun.
Great job guys ❤
This department has sever issues, this is more of a clown act that an effective Fire Department.
Fully involved unoccupied house fire with exterior of 2nd unoccupied house on fire. Less than 3 minute response. Had water on exposure 61 seconds after arrival. No interior damage to exposure house fire. Stopped fully involved house fire before roof collapsed. Fire companies stayed together & worked as a unit. No firefighters were injured, and no fire department equipment was damaged. Seems pretty effective to me.
Do you have any suggestions? Otherwise, you're just yapping.
Wish I knew what “sever” issues means! And also would love to know how many fires you’ve responded to. My guess is probably none just some weirdo that wanted to be a firefighter and couldn’t make it
@@ricknicolesadventuresI am just an ignorant retired cop,but it looked absolutely fine to me.
Not all departments run multi alarm fires every day like larger cities. Yes, there is always room for improvement, but armchair quarterbacking helps nobody. This is why we do after call reviews, train more, and constructively critique, not criticize. Improve the team and the incident operations will run according to ICS. If you do not learn something on every call, you haven't trained enough. Talking down about a department is unprofessional. Don't look down on anyone unless you are helping them up.
BULLSHIEET.....
Um...most departments run thru a critical review of runs: what was done well, what did not go as planned, lessons learned and how to prevent those issues. This is in no way "talking down" to a department. There are many UA-cam channels that do just that: Critique calls. For those who call this armchair quarterbacking, be advised I am a former firefighter with a degree in fire science management, not forgetting the massive training hours that comes with that. We critique to prevent injuries and death...PERIOD! Now, having said that, the firefighters did a tremendous job in quick-attack mode. They were aggressive and got knock-down in rapid fashion. I've seen career departments do worse.
Good video, well done. Stay safe & Happy Holidays ✌🇺🇸
The home was determined to be a total loss. Damages are expected to be upwards of $604.48.
Still, it was someone's home
No, It had been abandoned for a long time.
This is pathetic
Keep them videos coming
Only armchair gripe is why didn't focus on bravo exposure to get an interior line in place and do a search? I get it that someone could be in the fully engulfed structure but the odds of survival is nill to no chance. Focus on the exposure! Other than that great job on urgency and getting lines on the ground and flowing!!!
No one cares keyboard chief
That was my initial reaction as well. But when he said the exposure’s floors were gone, there wasn’t anything to save except keeping it from completely lighting up as well. Looks like derelict structures, though even then there can be people in them.
Good example of ICS not being followed. Chief did not task his captains to do 360, AND he gave direct orders to firefighters without going thru his captains. Again, chain-of-command was not followed, and that can get people killed.
I agree about the 360. I do need to do better on that. Chain of command was followed. I only gave orders to Captains or guys stepping up to Captain.
@@ricknicolesadventures Well executed plan, great work, sir. ✌🇺🇸
I am a Captain on this department but on a different crew. We run minimal staffing. Usually 3 companies and a Battalion Chief. 3 man engines, so on a structure fire this size we will normally have 8 guys fighting fire from start to finish. That is nearly half of what NFPA recommends for minimum staffing. We don't have the staffing to run ICS by the books, but i can assure you ICS is in affect. Our guys are disciplined and don't go Rambo on fire scenes. The chain-of-command is in place and used. Unfortunately, our IC's have to assume some duties that bigger departments don't normally have to do. The IC, on occasion, will have to give orders to a firefighter. In this video, the guy he was giving orders to was an engineer stepping up to Captain. By no means is it optimal, but it is the hand we are given.
@cmckee7904 you assesed, approached, executed and accomplished. No injuries. So Fuck these trolls. And yes I'm leo and am jealous of the shiny red trucks.
Ladder has what 250 gallons? That is why you lay in with a Ladder Truck would have taken less time and not run out of water than hauling that line all the way back to it.
500 gallons on the new Pierce.
We vacation every year at Ft Morgan Rd. Love the houses and the lack of crowds. It's our favorite beach in the world. The fishing on the beach is awesome.
I went on the trails with my dads jeep gladiator
How fun!
Where exactly is this? I would like to take my sxs and 4wheeler next time we make the trip up there.
That's a big NOPE for me!!!
Texarkana Tex
Good job, Rick! 👏🏻
even though it was isolated with no exposure issues and a complete loss from the go still could have been more than what appeared to be 2 master streams in opperation
Ruh roh, did someone forget to pin the waterway?
No. We keep it pinned in “rescue” mode unless we need it at the tip.
@@ricknicolesadventures That’s a recipe for disaster. You’re flirting with danger if that pin were to fail or it’s not latched properly. That can create a serious projectile.
They wanted to use the hose to stop the fire on the house. We didn’t have enough water to pull a 2nd hose until the truck was hooked up to a hydrant.
Why didn't they use that fire hose first on that ground fire ?
They wanted to put the house fire out first before it got too involved. We didn’t have enough water to use a 2nd hose until the fire truck was hooked up to the fire hydrant.
This is terrible fire department
🔪🔏👻 6:29
Very nice....good work FD!
Perfect location for fully involved structure. NO exposures Agreed that drones are "nice to have" BUT.... The issue is where do you sacrifice staffing to operate the drones? We already don't have enough firefighters on the handlines and staffing the other mandated positions. Maybe the Safety Officer or RIT team operate the drones? Eventually there is nothing left to burn...
I agree. I was able to operate the drone on this fire because we were mutual aid. I am a Battalion Chief in Texarkana AR . This fire was in Texarkana TX. They did not need my help in the command staff. It was really a rare opportunity. Usually we are way too busy to video large fires with a drone.
@@ricknicolesadventures perfect opportunity. Thanks for sharing
And by the way Hurst you only need one person to operate that drone. Pierce's got a thing now where you can attach it to the top of the truck and it can go to about 150-ft or so and will hover.
Were both Texarkana Texas and Arkansas FDs at this fire?
Yes. The ladder truck that had the gray ladder is the Arkansas ladder truck that was on that fire.
@@ricknicolesadventures oh ok, thanks
that was a very hot fire, was it used to be an auto shop? burns like one...
It was an fish tackle store.
You need more water on that fire!!
Как говарят вор пришол стены остались пожар произошел всё собой забрал
High heat fire for sure. Drones really help firefighters target their fire knock down strategies by giving a bird's eye view of the fire situation.
What kind of place is this a factory a warehouse storage
Back when they were open, they sold fishing gear. I don’t know how much of that stuff was still in there.
@@ricknicolesadventures wow such a tough fire so it was abandoned sad
interesting that the aerial was downwind for so long
3:05 Awesome playground in the distance
Good job until the trees needed watering.
