Took a while to get the right BB tool for this video. Thanks for waiting! Poor weather means bad light. Maybe I should get a GoPro instead of just proping my phone up. Completed a removal, clean, and reassembly of the bottom bracket of the Canyon Endurace AL 7.0. Next videos planned: disc brake caliper cleaning. headset service. What else do you want to see me try to work on?

Thanks for this video !. Do you think that this setting could fit to replace an amp (mine is a Koch amp) footswitch. The footswitch is a momentary (latch) like your. Thanks in advance
I did a mistake. My footswitch is a latch one (not momentary). What would be the settings in that case ?
It might be the right fix. The way you can tell it to plug a TRS cable into the amp and then use something like a paper clip to jumper the right and top of the other end of the cable to the sleeve of the cable. If it works and stays, then use unlatched footswitches. If the setting goes away and you unjumper, then use latched.
@@kevinswedlow5546 Thanks a lot for your quick feedback. Kind regards from France ;-)
Once you try Dual Lock there is no way back to velcro.
Could you share a link to the best product?
One question, why does the felt needs to be removed? Wouldn’t de better to leave them on to prevent future marks /scratchs? Thx
The bottom of the B5 is attached to the Vibramate bracket. The screws to connect those two pieces are only long enough to do the job. If you keep the felt, there would be a bit less thread holding the B5 to the bracket. I suppose you could transfer the felt to the underside of that part of the system. Those felt pads could have an effect on the guitar finish.
bigsby completely ruins the look of the tele. Great on Grestch and ES-335 though. There is much better suited tremolo system for Tele--VegaTrem I believe it is called.
Looks are totally subjective and a Bigsby sometimes looks nice on a Tele. Sometimes, it looks out of place. I have been very interested in the Vega Trem Option. The shape of the Vega arm is a little off to me, but the application looks really cool.
Would the left pedal with the Velcro still wobble if you gave it 2 strips (top and bottom like how you did with the Dura Lock) instead of one fat strip on the bottom?
@@Tomcat82 maybe not wobble, but the traditional Velcro would still compress when stepped on. And the pedal would probably scoot slightly each time it gets stomped from other than a directly overhead press. I tend to activate footswitches with my heel on the flood, so they get a little forward torque sometimes.
Little tip, Eat before you make a video because all's i could hear was your stomach making horrible noises, had to turn off as it was making me feel sick
Pretty cool video for the basic install. Wish it had been a more comprehensive installation but non the less was interesting. From my reading there are many items to check and some modifications that may need taken care of for a proper installation. Such as, beak angle, checking the rollers for free wheeling, the right nut, etc, etc. It is should be noted installing the Bigsby is not generally a simple plug and play as it requires some skill for a proper installation. Thanks for sharing.
Good points. Assuming the instrument plays well to begin with, the Vibramate makes the install as plug n play as it can be, IMHO. It does reduce the break angle of the strings compared to the string through setup, but is not considerably different than a top load bridge. This setup does better at retaining much of the character of a Telecaster compared to a factory install that uses a tune-o-matic/Mustang style bridge.
Thank you so much for this video.
Excellent demo and explanation, now I am confident to use dual-lock instead of velcro or zip ties on my new HoleyBoard setup. Problem I found with the zip ties is that same drift from regular velcro you show, and the zip tie would cover buttons on my Strymon NightSky. Thanks so much! 🤘👻❤
Nicely done Sir! 😊
I love this version. ❤️
Thank you. We were blessed to get to know Ted Pearce, the song writer. His testimony and mission is a great inspiration!
@@kevinswedlow5546 I recently found out about Ted when a sister from our congregation played "Bless the Name Yeshua". I was letting his album play through when I heard his version of "Son of Abraham". I fell in love with the song and was looking to find a guitar tutorial on YT when yours came up. I'm older and have been teaching myself to play and have been listening to it on repeat, lol. It's been such a blessing and I wanted to let you know.
Now I need to redo my pedalboard, great. Thanks for the demonstration, I guess there is a way to eliminate that wiggle.
Thank You for doing this excellent video.
Just put 3M Dual Lock on the top of my Metro 20. Heated it b4 pressing it down. Do you think putting 1" pieces of Dual Lock on the pedal corners will keep them in place?
Totally enough.
Hi Kevin, thanks for the video. I am a country player in the U.K. and have wanted a Bigsby Tele for many years. I know they are around, but I am Left Handed and even obtaining the parts to DIY it are unobtainium here.
Currently collecting parts to do this on a partscaster I'm working on. Good tip on the dual access screw. Would've never thought of that.
Will this work for a crate GX-30M custom 115 watt head for switching between clean, distortion and chorus?
You would probably need to use latching switches. Not sure otherwise.
Thank you so much, you saved me a big headache.
Will dual lock stick to a pedal board that already has the soft side of velcro to attach to?
Yes. I just picked up a Daddario XPND pedaboard that already has loop side Velcro on the rails. Dual lock attaches to it pretty well. It will still wiggle a little. But it holds very tightly.
@@kevinswedlow5546 Thank you
This way is so much easier than measuring/aligning things perfectly.
What do you think, i think for this budget considering upgrading the bike in future Specialized Allez Sport Disc would be better choice? I don’t know i just like it more than this Endurace 7. I don’t know what to buy…
When I purchased, I thought this was the best bang-for-buck option especially considering the full 105 group set including the crankset. Not sure what the market is like now that 105 electronic is part of the choice.
@@kevinswedlow5546 thank you for the fast response! Some guys on forums replied to me that Specialized Allez Sport Disc has Tiagra, weight the same as Endurace 7, price the same. Spec Allez has better frame, worse wheel set, worse seatport, worse gearset (tiagra) not 105. But i just like it more. For me Endurace feels cheaper, not so reliable. But better in every aspect, except legendary frame from Specialized…
Hi, I have a question regarding changing the cassette. Having taken the old cassette off, there is a 1.85mm spacer fitted, that I thought was only used for 10 speeds? It is the original factory fitted component, but should it be there on an 11 speed?
I think it’s safe to say the spacer you have is correct u less the gears did not work correctly when new. The spacer might be specific to your wheelset/cassette combination.
I have a Chapman ml3 pro Classic (a type of telecaster). It has a curved body where the Vibramate is supposed to be placed. Would that curve be a problem?
Probably won’t work. B5 is designed for flat top. And the Vibramate is specific to the Tele bridge and body dimensions.
The reverb is killing me.
You mean in the video? Yeah- I was in my garage.
also you serviced the bottom bracket at 1300 miles did it need it? ive already ridden 2000 miles - no issues,
I had some really rainy rides and noticed a lot of dirt build up. Wasn’t necessary at the time.
11/30 really?
I don’t think I understand your question.
Oh, the cassette.
sorry ---you said cassette is 11/30 is it not 11/34?. i bought the same bike,...
@@hugobrown2516 yeah. You’re right. 11-34.
@@kevinswedlow5546 yeah miine is 11/34
Super helpful, thank you!
What’s the best way to unlock these ?
A firm lift on one side of the pedal is usually enough. If there’s too much dual lock applied, a solid plastic lever works well. Like a bicycle tire lever or a plastic paint scrapper.
Just about to set up a new pedalboard and you’ve convinced me not to use the included Velcro. Great tip, thanks!
Will work as a foot switch for any amp such as a Laney HC50r Hardcore 50w amp?
Might need to use latching footswitches instead of momentary
There are off brands of dual lock, too.
Great!
Thx, great video!
2 and 3 pedal boards are always cool :)
Thank you. Exactly what I was looking for!!
Time to flip your control plate!
So much more involved than installation on my flat bodied Epiphone. Took under 5 minutes.
Did you use a Vibramate for that Epiphone? I have another video for an SG install. I agree it’s a simpler process.
Do you have to buy also the Vibramate V5-ST or just the B5 Bigsby?
Those are 2 different products, so yes. There are some “sets” available around $225.
For 183 cm (6 feet) height and - i don't remember how much - inseem Canyon site suggests size M for me for this bike. But I was on a 3 hours long bikefitting (with another bike) 2 years ago. So I asked them lately, to fetch my data from the computer and ask it which size is recommended for me from Canyon Endurance Al 7 according to my parameters. The answer was XL. I think the Canyon site somehow underestimates the optimal frame size considerably.
I am 6ft. I was surprised Canyon fitter recommended M for me, but I like it a little better than the L GTseries4 it replaced.
Hi! Will it work for any Gibson SG? Also -- does the mod makes it harder for bending?
It will work on any flat topped guitar with a standard stop bar and tune-o-matic. Does not really affect bending. It does change the access to the knobs a little bit.
@@kevinswedlow5546 I dont know what is flat topped guitar/standard stop bar/tune o matic. I have lots to learn
I know biking is addicting as heck, but if you can, balance out your riding with weight bearing exercise like jogging. Studies have shown too much bicycling can cause more bone loss than being inactive. Do some cross fit folks. Keep them bones strong.
I cycle for aerobic fitness. I have a latent knee injury that gets aggravated with medium impact activities like jogging.
Nice!
I'm concerned about the mounting plate scratching the guitar's surface behind the bridge. Do you know if there have been any complaints regarding this? Also, Bigsby offers a B5 with a pin-less string bar for easier stringing. They should have always been this way.
I had it set up this way for a couple months. I did not see any cosmetic issues when I removed it. You could peel the foam pads off the back of the Bigsby B5 and apply them to the Vibratemat plate to be extra careful
@@kevinswedlow5546 That sounds like a good idea. Thank you.
Great video dude! I am here because I'm starting work on my Tele Bigsby mod today and just wanted to be sure of my direction. Watching your video made me realize that I probably would have skipped over a few things, so I am happy that I watched your video. Thank you for the video and the help...I will definitely sub! By the way, and this is not a critique, but more of a suggestion... You might want to put a towel on the guitar when you're screwing directly on top of it. I was watching this with a bit more concern than I wanted to. I kept thinking that the screw driver was going to fly out and scratch that awesome guitar! Of course, being a guitar owner is like being a parent...Even when the kids are not ours, we still look out for them! Nice job, brother!
Thanks. Good point about tool safety. If I had a more active guitar mod channel, I segment about tool engagement and when to use power tools vs manual is worthwhile. I hope future viewers heed your comment. If you watch my SG version, you’ll see me opt for a vintage quarter instead of a flathead.
@@kevinswedlow5546 Thanks for the response and I will be sure to watch your SG video; I think I already have it cued up. You know, I was on the fence about my tremolo direction. I was thinking about doing a full mod and using the existing bridge and cutting the back for the strings. Then I also thought about doing the Vega-Trem which is really nice, but kind of pricey for wha you actually get. In the end, I decided that the Bigsby is simply too classic and the results you got made my decision easy. I just love the way your Tele came out. And, while I have it open and exposed, I am also going to add the copper tape to the inner side of the pick-guard and inside all of the electronics cavities. I figure that I might as well do all that since I have it open! Wish me luck, brother! Thanks again!
@@danminutsich7509 I did the approach of cutting the string clearance with a dremel on a previous Tele. I was not happy with the results and ended up with a Callaham bridge plate which was a big tone improvement. So, that’s my recommendation for a permanent version.
@@kevinswedlow5546 Yes! I noticed that in all of the videos where the person decide to mod the bridge plate, it just didn't look nice. It simply looked cut. But, I decided to go your way and your video helped me get there. Thanks again, brother!
well done and thanks for making this video...the capo is a great idea
looks like something that john 5 would play.
Would this work on a katana 50 ?
You will want to use “latching” footswitches instead of “momentary”
@@kevinswedlow5546 Thanks a lot for your response dude.
Excellent straight-forward video, thank you. I'm about to install the same kit on my telecaster and this was very helpful.
They make a roller bar that allows you to thread the string through the bar, making those ridiculous little bridge pins obsolete.
Those Bigsby upgrade parts are great. The notched roller is also cool. I purposely stuck with this original B5 to kind of show that string changes are really a hassle. Same with the SG version of this same install I did in a different video.
