This video confirms what I have increasingly seen, cats and dogs uniting and becoming friends, particularly if they have grown up together as kittens and puppies. I have even seen these two species swimming together in the ocean. It is a joy to behold. Long may this trend continue. Humans, you can do it. Bravo Rusty and Luna in finding Timmy; you are amazing. Rest in eternal peace Luna and Rusty. Gone but never forgotten.

Well-done Emily for recognising an opportunity to take action that would make other people, including the children in the neighbourhood, aware of the need for compassion and kindness towards animals, and in so doing raised the profile of the animal shelter, which is a victory for animal welfare. You loved them, you fed them, you nurtured them and taught them to be strong and kind. Thanks to Michael, the truck driver who first showed you and your kittens, kindness and compassion and brought your existence and plight of your family to the awareness of the town's people who immediately rallied around you and your babies in multiple caring ways. Thanks to Maggie from the diner, who fostered you and your kittens until loving homes were found for them. Your role has now changed from mother to ‘unofficial mascot' of the shelter. I have every confidence that you will carry out this new role with the same level of devotion that you devoted to role your as a mother. Thanks to Dr Thompson who offered his services in overseeing the health of the feline family. Thanks to Mrs Jenkins who provided positive coverage about the town's collective contributions in multiple ways to animal welfare in the community. Thanks to the community which rallied to a worthwhile cause, which ensured that ultimately all stray animals have a place to call home.
