Hello, this is a small tutorial explaining how to enable the Auto Hold and Automatic Parking Brake functions, even if your car did not come with the button. For this tutorial you will need a VCDS (VAGCOM) cable and a laptop. This method works on any Audi A3 8V 2012-2020, and on other MQB cars equipped with electronic parking brake like the VW Golf 7. 👍👍👍 Before I try here, I tried several codes from forums etc. All you have to do is change the bits and the bytes as the video shows and it was coded perfect. In my case, I had already installed the button so I just missed the last step and it works fine!! Thank you!!!

It does, but you can disable it by unbuckling your seatbelt

Is it somehow possible to deactivate the auto hold function by pressing an other button? I would love to activate the function but sometimes it´s necessary to deactivate it for a short time, for examble when the parking space is tight and you want to drive out of it without to accelerate too much.
You can just keep your seatbelt off while parking and auto hold won't engage.
I have a question? will the parking break work if you're driving along and take off your seatbelt for any reason??? or will it wait till you have stopped driving first?. thanks
Good question! I just did some experiments: - If you start driving from fully stopped and quickly take your seatbelt off, the parking brake will be applied at up to 2 km/h. - If you have been driving faster than 2 km/h before and take it off, it will wait until you are fully stopped and then it will apply.
@@dani43321 Hi, thanks for the reply, really appreciate it, and yeah i was worried if i did this it might come on whilst on the motorway if i take me seat belt off to reach for something maybe in the car and it would applied, so that's good to know, when i start work in the new year i will be working ina very hilly area, the reason to add this to my car, i'm not a fan of this electric break, i much prefer the old handbreake for sure.

Thanks for your video but byte 23 is hex:F2 for my version instead of F4 so these bits don't work.So I will be glad if someone knows the working bits for my version.

Thanks!!! Worked on an Audi S3 2015 8V PFL. I used obdeleven and just a few things to note: Make sure security access is granted otherwise it won't work. When doing the long coding do not be tempted to press the green tick (do it) button after each coding, wait until all 3 bytes are changed and then accept the coding.
Also the light coding adaption wasn't showing under autohold instead I searched for light and it was there alongside the light for handbrake button.

I did like in your film, all set the same , only different that I had f2 in bite not f4 and light was already on 0 not 7 Audi A3 2013 8v manual, no errors but auto hold not working and also no green light

Every step works for my car except the light . The original value was 7 but I changed it to 0 or any other number it still shows the warning . Any work out for this ?

Codiert in einem A3 8V von 2015, funktioniert leider nicht. Es kommt einer Fehler der EPB und die Meldung das der Holdassist nicht verfügbar ist. Meldung ist: Tasterlampe für Auto Hold Unterbrechung/Kurzschluss nach Masse.
hast du denn die LED überprüfung aus ausgestellt ? so wie er in 4:19 zeigt ? dann sollte der Fehler nicht kommen

Hi sir. Can you help Me? I have a pre facelift 2016 S3. I tried this with OBDeleven. All was done correct but I get 2 errors: 1. Auto hold: not available 2. Parking brake! (Yellow icon stays visible in dashboard)
And sometimes I got the error: ACC not available. I have ACC so is it possible I am editing the wrong byte? For example in the last one, byte 23, mine is called F6 and changes to F7. Maybe this causes it to not work?
I don't have an OBDeleven so I don't know the exact procedure for it, but it should be very similar. Just make sure to disable the LED monitoring, as shown at 4:20. I got the same errors until I disabled it.
@@dani43321 I did this. I disabled the led check to 0. Also enabled the auto hold function as well as set it to always active. Still getting the same errors. Is it possible my car isn’t equipped with the cable that is communicating with the ABS system? I spoke to Audi a day ago and they told me it was impossible to enable it without the button because the cable should be in the cable tree, but it is not. Maybe this just doesn’t work for all A3’s
Possibly it’s the ABS module. Mine starts with 3Q0. I figured most people that got this to work have ABS 5Q0
@@maxvermeij2172 I have an MQB Jetta with the 5Q0 ABS module, also with ACC. I tested this procedure and got the exact same errors once done. Under ABS, I always get the fault stating that the button led is shorted to ground, even though its monitoring was disabled in adaptations. I tested clearing the codes with the car in neutral and the eletronic parking brake disengaged and surprisingly, auto hold worked just fine until I parked and engaged the parking brake. Not sure what am I missing, maybe it can indeed only be done with the button retrofit.

Very nice video, thanks, I tried to follow your instructions but I have 2 errors come up! 1) Hold assist unavailable. 2) Parking brake. My vehicle is a 2016 A3 sb, there is a difference at Byte 23 where my original code is F2 and not F4 before changing to F5, would this be why it shows errors for me?

I've seen you've more than 140k km (the one I've bought has 106k) and I'm a little bit scared about the batteries (maybe they've lost some capacity). Thank you!
Hi, congratulations on your purchase, it is an amazing car. My batteries appear to be fine, I get about 25km real world range which is what most other people seem to be getting. There is also a recall ongoing and Audi will replace the batteries with new ones, I haven't done it yet but I have heard that the new batteries get more range which is great.
my Golf R doesn’t show the green P in the cluster when Auto Hold is active, but Auto Hold does work. Do you know how to enable this?
Sorry friend, no idea. Does it show the red P or just nothing at all?

I don't know if this will work in an A4. You can try to do it if you have the OBD11 Pro License, just make sure you do a backup of your car before attempting.
Would be interesting if this tutorial was done on the OBD11 as well
