I really love your videos. They instructed me how to design an avant-garde fashion piece wherein I eloquently discovered and exquisitely crafted a delectable and delightful and delicious and quite ecstatic and extraordinary piece of creative marvel. First of all, I decided that we needed to do something that had never been done before. I dreamed for forty days and forty stormy, stormy, superlatively cold and dreadful nights. Not only was my creative genius unmatched, but my perseverance, dedication, and devotion was also on a religiously extreme level that the Taliban could only ever dream of matching. One of the main features that my sneaker possessed, was the fact that it was extremely different. To put it in the wise words of my friend Michael Daffon, it was not like a sneaker at all. It was one of the most interesting and different creations known to man. God could not match my desire and respect for the Life of Man. I prayed fervently to ID Sketching with Coach K. But He did not answer. Consequently, I made the executive decision to renounce and denounce my faith. But, I realised that I needed some guidance from Him. I decided to re-baptise myself in my sneaker-sweat water bath. I was born anew. My flesh was stripped from my body, and cloth replaced it. I realised how flexible I had just become. No longer did my cells die, only my thread frayed instead. Despite my renewed birth in flames, I was disappointed with the results from my sneaker. My best design failed again and again. The sneaker god had failed me. I drowned in the sneaker water. Goodbye

It's awesome tbh!... I'm a graphic designer but I want to become a shoe designer like getting a job from Adidas or Nike or something. I know how to draw(not a pro) but I don't have a single knowledge about becoming a shoe designer. Can you explain it? btw this is the first video that I have seen about designing shoes, subscribed <3 edit: + which software is best for shoe designing

Thanks Irishi. It simply takes a lot of practice. Use others sketches as underlays to train your brain and hands what good proportions are. Copy techniques you find from other designers and alter the design to fit your own. Send me one of your sketches and I’ll give you some feedback.

Nice one, Mark. Good hand lettering is an underappreciated but truly valuable skill. I tell my students to give lettering (and arrows and leaders) the same amount of love that they give the sketch. Another thing I learned from our friend Bryan L. is to use a proportionally thick pen or marker for the size of the lettering.

Hah! Good to see I'm not the only one that still has some of those aluminum tubed Eberhard Faber markers from the 80s! They sure don't make 'em like they used to . . . thank goodness. I swear the Benzine from those things contributed to my "perfectly clear" hairstyle. It was a joy being in your class back then and I learned so much about ideation sketching from you. Really glad to see you sharing it here.

Once again killed it coach. I got two ideas for you. Soft good sketching: some sort of backpack or Messenger bag or purse that shows movement of how the bag opens and or hidden pockets etc. With texture options illustrated. Semi exploded view maybe? Old school 80's Viscom classic car sketching/ rendering/vignette. Your hand drawn ones were awesome back in the day, I would like to see how you would approach it now digitally.

Sure, of course. It all depends on the audience. Exploded views can be very helpful when working with mechanical engineers and technical staff. Doing a video about exploded views is a great idea! Thanks, Josh.
