There's more in depth information on how to avoid this TRACE related trouble. There is a compiler setting that can be set to enable or disable TRACE & ASSERT. When enabled, (Y)'s code works fine. This is so much fun, I'm thinking I ought to pay someone for the priviledge.

For those who though that all BASIC language editors can only produce interpreted (meaning slow) program execution I am glad to point out that GFA-BASIC 32 for Windows can compile your source code into 'fast' executable files (.exe files).

This demo shows how to output the day and month names in multiple languages. This code was generously provided by a long time member of our forum and help document editor. Thanks dragonjim!
