Howdy! This is the boiler-plate [BOTTOM TEXT] that populates the end of my video descriptions. Tom’s Mechanical Videography is a spin-off hobby UA-cam channel I created to house videos related to mechanical systems and DIY stuff. I’m a conservationist/biologist in my professional life but I’ve long had a passion for up-cycling, which is a fancy way of saying I’m cheap and like fixing broken stuff that I get for free. The primary purpose of this channel is a repository for informational videos I make related to solving niche and frustrating problems I encounter. That extends to vehicle and small engine repair videos. The secondary purpose of this channel, and the bulk of its content, is to motivate me to regularly think about and work on the garbage that I accumulate throughout my day to day life. By imposing a demand for [C O N T E N T] and an upload schedule on myself, it helps me actually work on all this trash in my yard. I don’t ever intend for this channel to make money or be successful, nor do I really want it to. I’m making videos as efficiently as I can with a phone camera and 10yo editing software in the limited time I have, which is my excuse as to why they all suck so hard. I have zero interest in making a career out of this or taking anyone’s money (other than UA-cam’s if they’ll pay me).
If for some strange reason you enjoy what I do, please consider SMASHING THAT MA’FUGEN [SUBSCRIBE] button. I don’t plan to quit anytime soon. Also, constructive criticism about how I can suck less is welcome but please keep in mind that I am a smooth-brained inbred hick and I probably won’t listen anyway.

Exactly the issue I was having... Tried insulating the fuel line & it still happened in the spring. Had to bleed the Schrader valve to get goin one time after figuring out the e15 gas boils at underhood temperatures causing the vapor lock. Took the cowl seals out & it starts & restarts every time even on 100°F days! Thanks!
Gonzalez Kenneth Perez Ruth Davis Charles
Please coil number or where I can get it thanks
What about placing a wood strip, same thickness across the 2 smaller blocks. Then the mag just sits inside? Eliminates the clamp
На моей kia optima 2013 идеальная работы турбины 3.8 вольта.
Brilliant! I have shelves in garage and want to hide what’s on the shelf. Going to do 2 thin 5’ x 5’ thin light wood panel doors (or create a panel door like yours) and attach to pulleys and T post! Been looking for right idea and this is PERFECT!
thanks for the video, i got an old charger i've inherited from my grandfather presumble its about 10 or so years older then the one you've got in the video and all it really says on it is that its made in west germany
Whats the x1.9675 on the tape mean?
The air gap on the husky coils is supposed to be 0.3 mm but the defacto standard of 0.010 inch also works. Those amazon coils probably would have worked if you didn't set the gap so huge. Your hot start issues may have been fixed by re-gapping the original coil to factory spec (0.3 mm) as well - I've been finding many reports of closing the "huge" factory gap on the 435 to fix an apparently common hot start issue on them.
Stop jumpstarting batteries. Open them up, measure the cells, and connect a cheap lithium ion charger to the bank that is out of balance. Connecting a perfectly good battery to it doesn’t just “equalize,” it basically shorts them both out potentially (if not: likely) damaging both. There’s a reason charging is done at a lower current.
Same shit for me motor blew at 105 and not ac doesnt work
Try using a Zip tie for getting the spring back on. Big one works really good.
your camera work sucks. hold still!!!
That is brilliant.
If yours are like mine, you have one cell that is registering as dead. It's not dead, it has popped the safety relief valve internally in that one cell. You can reset that valve but it can be dangerous. That was the case with my chinese knockoff packs as well as my porter cable originals. You have to completely disassemble the packs to fix it. Make sure you have an ABC fire extinguisher near by and you may wish to do this outside as well. The case of the cell is metal under the coating, and that is negative. The valve is under the postive post, and you will need a very small tool like a watch flat screw driver to get under the positive terminal to depress the valve. But once you do this, that cell will now charge again. Then you can reassemble that pack. This happens when you over work the battery pack. The weakest cell will get hot and blow the valve.
ahust the bottom screw on carb it how much gas it gets and set idle up some
open that bottom carb screw to about 3 turns change it around
put some gas in plug hole see if it sucking gas up like it should be
open the throttle up more set the screw open more can always readjust it after it running
it in points may have to by new set
that old of motor will run on regular gas and probably kerosene to be truthful and you lowed the float properly to low and flooding the carburetor bowl
screw the gas valve out some more on bottom of carb that what controls how much gas it needs to run and if points isn't set right at 20 it won't run right
Do you leave the batteries interconnected when you test them?
Good video!!! But not shoes, not safety 😂😂😂
Halo sir may i know what is the size of J10s bearing and shaft seal
I don't know if i believe the boiling gas thing because, the fuel rail is very low volume, and it would take like 370 degrees for the fuel rail to be full of just gasoline vapor, even if its just half full, there should be liquid gasoline at the bottom and vapor gasoline at the top. But even still, the gasoline if it is in vapor, it would be under high pressure, so as soon as the fuel injectors open, the pressure and vapor would be gone, because viscosity of gaseous fluids is like a hundred times lower than liquid fluids, so if there is gasoline vapor in the fuel rail, it would be evacuated near instantly. If the engine is failing to start, it might be due to something else. Maybe the compression is shit from the engine running too hot, cooking all the oil, then losing lubrication and wearing the engine out. Then you got garbage starting with worn engine.
maybe it doesnt have enough glycol and boils too early? o nvm u swapped fluid
have you checked that you have low rad fan on, and high rad fan on? sometimes u might be missing one.
could be head gasket maybe?
Thanx much. I have a ‘71, 6 HP Johnson with the same problem. Hoping the same fix will work for me. 3:25 pm 7/15/24.
Your engine will never reach op temp and if you live here you will freeze.
Mine sit all winter and the battery went dead, I used a jump box to crank it , then I drove it and the ignition module started smoking, I ordered a new one, jumped it off and it smoked it to, do you think it's because of dead battery?
Your camera movement is making me motion sick
😂 Just put a radiator in my civic . Got back after a hard test drive and my lower Rad hose was cartoonishly large like this . I was cracking up 😂. 15 years of working on my own cars and I had never witnessed this .
Does a puller turns real easy or ❤❤ like of a kind of hard❤
Adults having trouble with childproofing? Sad
I installed a Schrader valve one the back of my can along with some RTV sealant, has worked wonders for years.
You replace a $50 gas can nozzle with a $30 replacement? Um...how about stop buying crap products to begin with? Does that seem logical?
An 8 piece set for $30, which is $3.75 per replacement nozzle. New gas cans don't come with the old style nozzles anymore in the USA, since the laws changed to force new cans to have automatic closure systems, limited venting of fumes, and child proofing back in 2009. Those systems are prone to causing issues like spills when pouring, being difficult to impossible to pour alone (needs 3 hands), failing and allowing gas to spill anyway, failing after a short time or limited number of uses, exc.
@patrickdix772 one set will retrofit 8 gas cans?
@@mrpush25321:10 "8 piece kit for thirty bucks" 3:36 you can literally see multiple nozzles in the box.
@@mrpush2532 I put a reply, no idea why it was deleted, but yes. If you look at the box when it's opened you can see the multiple extra nozzles in it.
I see an ego battery charger 👀
Metal jerrycans r awesome I’m using cans issued to the Australian army in 1951 Still sealing, no rust The cans r the same age as me!
How did you cut off the propel drive?
Excellent work. I’m impressed you did all that with basically one hand!
That machine is literally harder than just using tire bars. Your taking 10 minutes to do a 2 minute job.
AS SOON AS YOU HOOK UP 12V TO THE VALVE YOU WILL FRY THE VALVE!!! ITS A VARIABLE NOT A ON OFF LIKE THEY USED TO BE...
Finally, perfect video! Thank you!
I solved the problem by using my wife's nail polish instead of electric tape. I think it's more long-lasting. With the dielectric grease applied on top it flows well and does not wear out easily. Thanks for the video and the excellent explanation
Will this kind of “old school” charger power a small 12v DC motor? Do these chargers overheat? There’s a Zodys brand (UL approved), 30+ years old for sale locally. Worth $25? Thanks.
Hi Tom. I have the same car and the same problem. I see in the video that you put the tape on two copper lines. Is it correct? Two hours ago i've opened the dash and the air controller panel, and i had a panic attack...
Thanks for the video !! Exactly what I was looking for !
You saved me a lot of "extra" wasted time! I had worked for about 45 minutes to pull the spring. It took me 2 minutes to do it the way you instructed. I appreciate you!
