    Hello, I am a nursing graduate from Indonesia. My educational background is in D4 Nursing Anesthesiology, which is equivalent to a Bachelor of Nursing. My dream is to become a Nurse Practitioner (NP), and I am constantly seeking information about this pathway. However, I am confused about the steps. To become an NP, is it mandatory to first become an RN in the USA, or is it possible to directly apply to an NP program? If becoming an RN is required, are there any trustworthy agencies that can assist with this process, or is it feasible to apply individually? I would greatly appreciate guidance on the steps and relevant information. I found your video very inspiring-thank you for sharing!

    • @throughlaineyseyes
      @throughlaineyseyes Місяць тому

      Hi! I know that you must be a Registered Nurse before you become a Nurse Practitioner. I'm unsure if there is a loophole since you have your nursing background from Indonesia. I would recommend researching your local area for BSN nursing programs and maybe ask them if your background can factor into your schooling. Maybe you'd be able to take less classes and finish quicker? Let me know how it goes!

      @@throughlaineyseyes thank you for your answer! I’m currently exploring the process of becoming an RN in the USA. Do you know if it’s possible to apply independently, or would I need to work with an agency? Also, I’d love to hear more about the specific requirements for international nurses, such as whether I’d need to take the NCLEX-RN and have my credentials evaluated. Thanks again for your advice-I really appreciate it!

    If you can't afford designer bags and feel a certain way about expensive designer bags, then don't watch this video. Like do you read a video title before clicking on it? The title makes it clear that the video will be about designer bags. I find these types of videos very helpful and although I can't afford these bags yet, I know one day I will. I wanted to know which designer bag was truly worth my hard-earned money and one that I would get the most out of. Hi!! Thank you so much for the video. I would really love to hear more about UT Arlington, as i am currently in the struggle of trying to find the right program for myself. I am either doing FNP or PNP primary care. I'm a current peds nurse! Did the program require you to pretty much learn with your textbook on your own? Or were there pre recorded/zoom lectures? Interactive material? Thanks so much for your time. I'd love to hear general pros and cons of UTA!

      It really felt like a self taught program. Yes lots of textbook reading and pre-recorded lectures. The most I would get from my professors was emails with updates, and then answering certain questions we’d ask in the discussion boards. If you aren’t someone who can be very diligent and self-motivating, then it may not be for you. Hope that helps!

    Hey Lainey, I am a CNA in a hospital on the telemetry/Med Surg floor. I’m also working on my BSN. Then I will work on my MSN/DNP. I plan to be an FNP in urgent care. Most of the urgent care centers I’ve researched, are asking for an MSN with the FNP-BC which I will be. I’m guessing to practice independently, I need a DNP. Either way, my ultimate goal is to have my DNP but for now, I would love to get some experience as a provider before I go independent.

      Hi Destiny! I always wanted to progress into the provider role, even when I was in nursing school. So I had the idea in my head to either do CRNA or NP. When Covid happened, it was really rough on my mental health working in the ER. That is really what prompted me to start school. Then during school as I was learning, I found what I liked and went from there. It's a lot of responsibility, but so worth it. I love having my nursing experience/background, because that shaped me to be more personable and warm at the bedside. Hope that helps!

    Sarah Michelle was a great study tool to prepare for boards. Uworld for active recall was also helpful but these questions were much more difficult in my opinion, however the rationales are phenomenal and in depth to help you grasp an understanding of why. Thanks so much for this! Like the other poster mentioned, I have been binge watching your videos. I am currently in nursing school. I love watching videos of other nursing students, but as an older student, I sometimes can’t relate to them. Because I am older, I have debated pretty much going DE to an FNP program. I would work as a bedside RN while in FNP school, but I just don’t want to wait to start a program. Can you please share your thoughts on this?

    • @throughlaineyseyes
      @throughlaineyseyes 4 місяці тому

      Hi Emmie! I totally get that you'd prefer to go straight into an FNP program that way there isn't a break in between school. But to be honest, your nursing experience and knowledge is SO crucial for your baseline navigation of the healthcare field. That experience is invaluable, so I would recommend at least working 2 years before starting the program, and then continue to work as a nurse while you are in school, so that way you'll have about 4-5 years of experience of being an RN before starting in your role as an NP. Hope this helps!

    I am watching this because I am going through a tough time deciding between going to np or pa school. I am working towards my BSN so it would make sense for me to go to np school. But I also took all of my pa school prerequisites before working towards my BSN. I spoke to my healthcare provider, he is a nurse practitioner, and he advised me to go to np school after getting my BSN (advised me to work at least 3-4 years as an RN before going for my masters) and explained some other reasons that did resonate with me. The biggest green flag I see is that you are able to work as an RN while completing np school. But then people complain about the difference in training and knowledge gained through both graduate programs and I am crying in the inside because I don't know how much of that is actually true or just silly nonsense. I've been binge watching videos of people that are np's and pa's. Sorry for my rant, this felt like a safe space and hopefully someone else also relates to my current situation

    • @throughlaineyseyes
      @throughlaineyseyes 4 місяці тому

      I completely understand your concern, and it is a hard decision to make. Of course going down the NP route would make the most sense because you will have the nursing experience before you go back to school. Yes, you do also get to work while in NP school, at least for majority of it, but that changes when you are deep into clinicals. I have fellow PA friends, and I just feel like the PA program gives you so much more exposure to all sorts of specialties. Most PAs start their classes and they are side by side with med students, so their curriculum is pretty similar. You get to do internal med, family med, ER, urgent care, OR, pediatrics, psych, just to name a few. So it really just depends on where you see yourself after graduating that might help with your decision. Hope that helps!

    • @fabfoz
      @fabfoz 3 місяці тому

      Pa definitely has more thorough training for being a provider. NP training is very rushed which is honestly a disservice to nursing. If np is your goal at least 5 years of experience would benefit you. Imo np is very high liability and low pay initially but of course with experience pay increases…there is also no room for upward mobility but of course you have more autonomy. Np school just like nursing is not very supportive. If this field was male dominated I think it would be different and better.

    • @throughlaineyseyes
      @throughlaineyseyes 4 місяці тому

      Yay, how exciting!! Good luck with everything. My biggest tip would be to shadow each one. So find a CRNA who is willing to let you shadow them for their whole shift and pick their brain on everything! Such as difficulty of school, requirements for school, are they happy in their job? Then do some research and see what kind of nurse practitioner jobs interest you and try to shadow some from what intrigues you. I hope that helps!

    I ♥️ your channel! Thanks for being so candid. I went to NP school in my 60’s, it’s the best decision I ever made. I do feel some angst here and there, and I too never had problems with anxiety, till I went to NP school. I used to worry that it was from being older. However, I have noticed more and more young people report similar struggles. Of course, I would never wish this upon anyone. However, I feel relieved because I often worried that I made a mistake, being determined to realize my dream at this late age.

    Hi, I’m glad I found your channel. Do you think getting a DOT certification is helpful when trying to break into UC? Thanks in advance.

      Most urgent cares will hire you before you are DOT certified and then help give you the course to get certified while you’re already working.

      Unfortunately I couldn’t find the exact ones anymore 😭 I even went back through my previous orders and they weren’t available.

    Hey! Really appreciate your NP content! I’ll be starting in a primary care office next month! Pill case, great idea and the snacks! I have the EMRA antibiotic guide that I need to read through before I start my job! You’re inspiring me to get back into reading for leisure, after I, of course read the antibiotic guide, my primary care guide, learn Spanish, and go through the Killer ecg course…then maybe I’ll finish Fourth Wing! Thanks for the great content!

      I prefer to follow in her footsteps and work Urgent care! The schedule for primary was rough for my bff and she strayed away eventually. The on calls were the same as MDs and workload at home was equivalent but minus the salary of the MD. So urgent care i feel you can do what ya love and when you clock out you can relax the brain
