    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      Thanks for the comment James - That’s a great question! Yes you do. Because the driveway is already sloped towards the street, you want to make sure you’re level side to side. When you look at your pavers they should look level with a slope towards wherever you want the water to go. This is a repair so we can’t really change the slope because your bound by the pavers on the sides. Hopefully this makes sense to you lol 😂 thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment! 🦾

    What is a cost for such a job ? Do you charge by per Square foot?

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      That’s a great question! The price will vary from one property to another, depending on the depth of excavation, type of pavers, access, what machine we need to use to get the job done, if any work that needs to be done by hand, location, and other factors. For this reason, we do not charge a fixed rate per square foot. It’s priced per project. But typically a project of this size such as this one can range anywhere around 40k. Plus steps, edging, structures etc. 😊 hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

    Great video! What is the correct time warranty on a Paver patio and what it covers? I'm new to this.

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      Thank you! That’s a great question - companies will typically offer anywhere between 2-5 year workmanship warranty on labour. It covers shifting/sinking of the pavers. Usually it will be repaired if water accumulates on the pavers and doesn’t flow off the pavers leaving puddles. It would have to sink an inch.. If it’s really really minor then no need to repair anything. The warranty would not apply if the damages are caused by tree roots, or animals boring under the pavers, or if someone but the person who installed it has tampered the pavers.it wouldn’t cover anything to do with the polymeric sand or cracked pavers, or weeds growing through. The pavers are under warranty from the manufacturer so if they chip or crack or discolored the client would have to reach out to the manufacturer not the contractor who installed the pavers. Pro tip - to minimize any future repairs, take the extra steps to insure the base is extremely solid and we’ll compacted. Hope this helps! Thanks for watching and thanks for the great question 😊👍🏼

    Great video! I have a bunch of loose pavers I need to fix. What do you recommend for brick pavers that were installed on top of tiles? Can I just fill in the gaps with polymeric sand or do I need an adhesive first to stick the pavers to the tile?

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      Thanks, and great question! To answer that question - I would not recommend installing pavers over tiles… I would remove the tiles first. Yes, you can use polymeric sand. Unless you have mortar at the moment, then just mortar it, but if not, sand is fine. If I misunderstood your question and you meant “resurfacing” existing concrete floors - I still recommend to remove the tiles and I’d recommend the Venetian by Techo-Bloc. It comes in a variety of colors, Slate, Polished or Smooth textures, and backed by a Lifetime Warranty. The BLU by Techo-Bloc is also a wonderful product. Check it out at www.techo-bloc.com 👍🏼 Hope this helps. 😊 Thanks for watching!

      The process of leveling is definitely the same but you may want to opt for 80mm pavers rather than 60mm such as the ones in this video. Also, as Chase mentioned - it will require a deeper excavation to support min 12” of base gravel - NOT sand. Crushed 0.3/4 gravel. We recommend compacting it every 4” lifts. Once your gravel is compacted you will add 1-1.5” of HPB to level for pavers (like in this video). Hope that helps! 👍🏼 thanks for watching!

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      He means the base below the sand base. Your driveway will require a min. of 12” of 0.3/4 crushed gravel and 1”-1.5” of HPB (high performance bedding). Btw: some people call it sand base, screening, HPB.. but it all serves the same purpose. We recommend HPB as it has the best compaction rate. 👍🏼 good luck 🍀

    Yea, that turned out amazing! Does that raised garden bed stone wall have two courses of block and then caps? When you did that garden bed, how much base is underneath the block? Do you need to have at least 6in of base when doing walls (small size walls, below 4ft in height). Also, when doing walls and putting dow your base, do you put a small bedding stone on top of base or do you put your block straight on top of gravel? I hope that makes sense

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      I appreciate it! That’s a very good question man! Yes that makes total sense. So to answer your questions; on this wall in particular theres 1 row buried, so 3 rows + coping. If the wall is higher you bury 2 rows (but it also depends on the thickness of the block. This one was 6”, some walls are 3”. Generally you wanna bury 30% of the exposed height of the wall. Everything in hardscaping will require a min 8”gravel base (depending where you live) + 1-1.5” of bedding sand/HPB. If you live where there’s cold winters your gravel base should be min 12”. On a few occasions we’ve installed retaining walls directly on gravel but that’s because the wall was huge. By the way the gravel base should only be “0.3/4 CRUSHED GRAVEL” not 3/4 clear gravel because that doesn’t compact well. Another advice; don’t fill the entire wall with soil, there needs to be 12” of CLEAR GRAVEL behind the actual wall to allow for proper drainage so that the soil doesn’t absorb the water and cause pressure behind the wall (or else it shifts). On a retaining wall you’d put a French drain behind the wall at the bottom of the first row level with an exit every 25% of the length. Hope that makes sense lol Once again follow me on tiktok and if you wanna know something just post it in my comments and I’ll make a short tiktok about it (assuming I have the right answers). 👍🏼 Goog luck 🍀

    Turned out great! That’s why I’m interested in hardscaping. It’s too bad at my previous landscaping jobs we didn’t do many hard scape installs, and when we did, I don’t think we installed it properly. The only hardscape we did was installing stone steps. We dug out a little it, put paver base underneath (im not even sure it was the right stuff you use now). I’ve spent a lot of hours here on UA-cam trying to understand how to do these type of jobs professionally and properly. I had no idea how hadscapers level their patio installs, but now I’ve learned. If I become successful with opening my own landscape business, I’d absolutely LOVE to offer these type of jobs. Just doing a bunch of research right now. So far, I’ve learned that for patios people recommend roughly 6in of base. Looks like a few people use 3/4in clear aggregate for base and then and inch of clear 1/4-3/8in for bedding (leveling) layer. Also, looks like hardscapers use geotech fabric after they compact their first level of base. I wanna take on smaller hardscaping job that I could do with a mini skid steer like shown in the video.

    Nice. I’m quite the opposite, I know how to measure, but don’t know how to install hard scapes lol. Btw you should do a video with n how to measure cubic yards. I had to research that one, but I got it down now. On another note, when installing stone edging, I assume I need a bedding agent. Do I need to lay a base and then bedding for stones edging, or can I just dig down to proper depth and then use bedding material straight on top of dirt?

    • @MILTON_STONE
      @MILTON_STONE Рік тому

      👍🏼Thanks Evan! Lol everyone has there own strengths I guess. How come you learned how to measure and don’t install, are you a salesman/estimator or owner? Yes, I can imagine lol it can be a pain if you don’t know how to measure cubic yards haha I struggled with that as well for a long time before I learned how to. That’s a great advice tho, I will definitely make a video about that… hopefully I don’t screw it up lol jkn 👍🏼 To answer your question regarding the edging - great question by the way! Many install the pavers and then dig along the side of the edge to pour concrete to act as an edge restraint but I find that by doing that you weaken the integrity of the base. In my opinion I feel that it’s better to pour a concrete edging first and then install your pavers. Or you can use aluminum edge restraints with 12” galvanized nails - this is the typical way of doing it. You don’t need no bonding agent for neither one of these options. If you want to use a bonding agent, what you can do is mortar the last row (the edge) and then install up to it. Hope that wasn’t confusing af lol 😂 Thanks for the great question 👍🏼 and hopefully that was helpful.. if not let me know if you have other questions! 👊🏻😎

      That’s a great question! I used to use stone dust when I first started and I’ve installed it like that for almost 15 years.. until I tried working with HPB (high performance bedding) and I’m usdt say that I wouldn’t go back to stone dust or any other base material. HPB is amazing for many reasons; it compacts under pressure, no need to compact it before installing pavers. I find that since I started using HPB I’ve have to do less repairs, that’s a win-win for me lol Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏼
