    Bottom line. The pilot should have sought an open field or a pipe, as it's called, to land. No fuel left, so no chance of an explosion. By diverting over trees and striking the tops of them, the plane tilted at a steeper angle with no chance to land on it's belly. Artimus was an experienced pilot. No matter how you judge his recollections, he was right about the pilot's lack of judgement. A crash landing may have been survivable for all.

    I remember the day he died. I was driving home when it came over the radio. I pulled over and cried. Conway and Marty Robbin’s were my favorite singers. It was a tragedy what happened to his beloved Twitty city after he died!! It built it for his family and fans. Yet his family turned his dreams into a greed filled nightmare!!

    Watch a documentary from 1977 titled "Uncut 1977 documentary: 'Need All My Friends'" by a local Jacksonville news station.. Billy Powell says what he did when the plane was crashing and that matches other people's description of Artimus trying to get as far back in the plane as possible.. and everyone was freaking out and cussing each other (from Leslie Hawkins from another film). Probably fighting to see who could get in the back.. They had time to "think about it" before they crashed.. like 10 minutes I think from the time the left engine cut out.. Screw that

    You know.. what's really stupid about the Ronnie quote "If the Lord wants you to die on this plane"... Between the fireballs, bad vibes and (if she's to be believed) Jo Jo's dream.. It seems to me the Lord was wanting them to live, and not die on that plane.. What does the Lord have to do? Come down from heaven and hit Ronnie in the head with a shovel? He was getting every sign imaginable..

    I just did some more math about this flight... and the NTSB report said that 518 gallons will get you 2.8 hours of flight time (at a certain speed and altitude) @ avg fuel consumption rates.. The pilot, when he filed his flight plan by phone, said he had 5 hours of fuel on board. That would be 925 gallons of fuel HE THOUGHT he had. That right there proves he NEVER dipped those tanks because if he had he would have known he didn't have nowhere near 925 gallons of fuel like he stated in his flight plan. So, he was a moron.. The flight plan said it would take 2 hours and 45 minutes to get to Baton Rouge and that would require around 500 gallons of fuel. They just took on 400 gallons after they landed in South Carolina. So for the pilots to believe they had 925 gallons on that plane also proves they never dipped those tanks, like ever.. never, ever.

  • @KentuckyColonel
    @KentuckyColonel 3 дні тому

    read the NTSB report.. The pilots stated and fuel records show that they were refueled with 400 gallons of 100 octane low lead fuel on the 18th in Greenville SC. Refueling calculations and engine fuel consumption averages stated that the plane should have had 518 gallons left or 2.8 hours of flight time. Artimus noticed that the right engine was in the "auto rich" position to smooth it out. That would increase fuel consumption by 25 gal/hr for that engine. There should have been 207 gallons of fuel in that plane at the crash site. So where did the 207 gallons of fuel go to? From Texas (where they picked up the plane) to the crash site the plane had flown for 13.5 hours.. If they had been running that engine in the auto rich position for say 10 hours that would be 250 gallons of extra fuel that the Captain wouldn't have known to enter into his flight plan calculations because he only had like 60 hours in this type of plane. And NO they did not dip those tanks.. no chance.. even if Artimus was 45 minutes late no way it would have used 207 gallons of fuel.. impossible .. They didn't dip those tanks because they just got 400 gallons of fuel and they should have been good to go but they wasn't. They were bone dry when they got that 400 gallons and ok, I will go here, being bone dry burning 400 gallons for an extra hour before take off killed them actually..

    Punched in the face? You're an idiot, which figures as violence is the refuge of the incompetent. Also are idiots who yell things, at concerts or anywhere, it's lazy, go to whoever and speak directly to them. Only attempting to prevent the immediate loss of life or limb justifies hurting others ears and disturbing the peace, same principle as car horns are only for stopping another car from hitting you, not lazy usage as door knocker and such, that's juvenile, get out and go to the door, behave like you have some sense, like an adult.

    I was 16 dating an lets say older man who introduced me to all the great music Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest and many many others but my absolute favorite was Lynard Skynard from then till now iam 55 will always be my favorite band. Simple man my son and i danced to at his wedding . Like i had imagined when i was 19 yrs old thinking about the son i knew i would have someday. When i smell leather, beer and hear the sound of a Harley Davidson, i hear Lynyrd Skynyrd in my head. "If you have to write it down, it's not worth remembering," Ronnie Van Zant Honestly the reason i want to punch anyone who yells out free byrd is cause its so overplayed, and they have so many great songs. Why always that one. Lol

    Thankfully they didn't suffer after impact. Patsy had been thrown from the plane and was under a log as well as one of her feet being located on the ground. The other three were only identifiable through papers found on the bodies. The 3 men were just ripped to shreds. People at the scene remembered stepping on what they thought was plane debris but was actually pieces of flesh strewn about all over the area of the plane.

    I was 7 when the crash happened, the day before my birthday. I remember my mom and dad talking about it and they left me with a sitter while they traveled to Tenn to go to Hawkshaw's (Harold) funeral. By the way, he was my cousin, although I never got to meet him. My dad told me stories of Hawkshaw, who grew up in my town (Huntington, WV), playing music on his front porch and all the neighbors would gather around to listen to him. At 42, he was still young and would have become a huge country star if he had lived.

I love her haunting, beautiful voice, my mama would play her music for us & we watched Sweet Dreams. She seems so approachable & down to earth. She's in Heaven with her Charlie, he's seems to be the love of her life & visa-versa.

    Nice and respectful video, thank you. I'm an anthropologist but I've never heard the term "mortuary anthropologist." Why do these pilots always ignore good advice and poor weather conditions? So sad. I'm currently in Medellín, Colombia, but originally born in California. My good friend and neighbor was from Little Rock, Arkansas and I had a chance to visit once many years ago. Beautiful country.

    I had a life moving almost spiritual experience privilege of seeing Lynyrd Skynyrd perform LIVE! in Statesboro Georgia October 13th 1977 at a place called the Hanner Feild house on the then Georgia Southern College campus! Now a University, I was way to young to be there! Barely 14 yrs old, I tagged along with older Uncles...unaware that i was about to see the best band ever ! I was in awww listening to them play their genuine hearts out! I was not under any influence of weed or alcohol myself, but it was of course all around me! As I witnessed them live even back then I knew in my soul I was watching a important unforgettable event, as other people replied and stated in the posted replies it is unexplainable and a emotional connection that we can't control or explain the reasons why! Other than I knew they would be iconic in many ways! Their music is and was soul soothing Southern rock that can never be copied or replaced, if you witnessed a live performance of the original Lynyrd Skynyrd Band you have witnessed epic original soul gripping music that you will never see again on this planet Earth! Ronnie Van Zant sang on the stage that night straight up BAREFOOT! Coolest thing I have ever seen 😎 I am super thankful to have seen them LIVE in their prime!! I did not idolize these talented men, but they were and always will be in my memory....a legacy of the best Era of music talent of all times! I'm as free as a bird and I cannot change this, nor do I ever want to forget! The only change you will need or receive is saving Grace through accepting and surrendering your heart to Jesus Christ and believeing in his sacrifice on the cross as payment of our sins.the trinity! from God almighty, Jesus the Son, and him the Holy Spirit, I am a dreamer also, see you when I see you Brother as we wait for Jesus to return to collect his own people his children of believers! God Bless 🙏
