"PAROXYSM" is the second chapter in the visual tap dance album LAZARUS by Nikolai Kemeny. Co-composed by Nikolai Kemeny and Tom Friedrich, the track evolved from its early pandemic origins in the Short Film DISTORTION into a multi-layered piece enriched by new sections and instrumentation.
This scene explores the duality of the inner voice and external chaos. Featuring Nesso Shithappenz's mesmerizing improvisational dance, the clean, minimal set at Tanzhaus NRW symbolizes introspection. Urban exterior shots contrast the mystical, creating a narrative that is both grounded and transcendent.
The cinematography, directed by Raphael Hahn, amplifies the raw energy of rhythm and movement. Tap Dance transforms into a profound language of expression, merging with a dynamic jazz ensemble to tell a story of resilience and creativity.
