First flew in there in 1987. Then in 1991, 1992, 1994. Can't forget the experience of the first flight into Hong Kong by Thai Airways that landed at 10:48 pm. When looked out of the window, saw for the first time the glittering skyline of the Victoria Harbour. What a sight that was! That charm was gone when Kai Tak closed. That magic of arrival in Hong Kong was gone.

Thanks for these videos - the last few minutes were the best! This is a special aeroport to me - I was lucky enough to have a layover at Kai Tak on my way to Vietnam for the first time in summer of 1998 and another layover at the Super Hub on the way back a month later. Love the classic, cozy design of Kai Tak compared to sterile modern architecture.

i was a chaos, and i remember headlines like "HKD$1.5B joke" lol.. lucky i had the chance to fly to hk at kai tak and flew out from chek lap kok (when it was running smoothly) i still miss kai tak.. i miss how close it was .. i could literally walk to it..

@meNtor890 I will go there next year 2012, I train under 32nd generation warrior monk Shi Xing Xue and two of his disciples here in Sweden, several of my friends that I train with have been there and trained there more than once, so I've got a good idea of what it's like and I look forward to go there next year.

@VanDamage919 I have been led to believe many of the acrobatic and artistic flourishes prevalent in Wushu are not designed for use in combat; they are mainly for training purposes. The martial aspects of Kung Fu are as strong as any other form. However, the strength stems from application combined with Tai Chi techniques. Tai Chi can be difficult and time consuming to master. Thus, many are unwilling to devote years to the study of both. That's why TKD and BJJ are often touted superior.

What a brilliant series, man... Chep Lap Kok is spacious, nice, but soulless and generic. Like most new airports these days.. I wish I could go back in time to the days before glass cockpits, iphones, gleaming terminals into the REAL world that is slowly gone.. >.<

@havrist1 these people are taught to sustain unimaginable amounts of pain, yet alone they are as fast and as lethal as ever. kimbo wouldn't have the stamina, and even if he did hit them, do you think a guy who can put his weight on 6 spearheads is going to cry about a shot from kimbo? ha. besides, they don't inflict pain unles absolutely necessary. so yes kimbo may win by decision, but only because the monk wouldn't attack.
