My god, what skill and talent you have absolutely amazing, what would that cost?

Boatman's cabins were designed to cram people in a small space to allow more cargo storage. We had a 62ft Stoke boat with one fitted and you could count on one hand when it was used. If we are lucky enough to return to the canals I wouldn't select a boat with a traditional working boatman's cabin. It's not practical in the modern age. I prefer a reverse layout with kitchen at stern and main bedroom at bow.

Worked on Gardner. Engines for ten years 1962 to1972 fantastic engine. Called out to veh with engine rumble checked it over got oil pressure drove back to depot gently approx ten miles took it apart next day crankshaft in three pieces I loved those engines😊😊😊

How many hours went into this fantastic construction ? This is so much more than modern boats can offer.

Little bit of a tight inlet valve making that chuffing noise that went away once she was running. Gardner - Best of british engineering.

Used to have one. So much power. Lifted my 20 ton boat out of the Thames. All the gin palace yogurt pots were agasp. At a lock when they caught me up one came over to ask what was my engine. Treasured memories

Hi Mark, that’s a beauty you have built out of an old bike. The only concern I have is that it’s an old Royal Enfield engine and it’s using way beyond its idle .please lower the petrol knob a bit. I promise a beautiful engine sound(signature Royal Enfield sound) and a long lasting engine life. I my self own 2 Royal Enfield bikes(1-machismo-2003, 2- new classic 350) hope you still Own this beauty and may consider my advise

Clearly a British engine with styling like an old steam locomotive and sound to match. Compare to a 3-71 Detroit and you wonder how they were made for the same purpose. (And I love Detroits as well.)

What is the part made by Parsons behind the flywheel? . In the 1970s I was a bus driver in Newcastle, based at Byker Depot, and I passed C A Parsons factory on Shields Road daily. All gone now but a nostalgic connection for me.
