Easy Rolling Wheelbarrow Path
Easily roll wheelbarrows over rough or soft ground. The WORKHORSE path is quickly laid down to create a firm, smooth rolling surface. Traction arcs provide good grip for work boots. Drainage holes keep the surface dry. The path may be quickly disassembled and reconfigured for other uses such as residential walkways, tent floors, RV patios, floors for wet basements, wheelchair access, bike paths, and more.

WHEELBARROWS and a RHINO on a WORKHORSE PATH

Rolling loaded wheelbarrows and Rhinos (see RhinoToolSystems.com) over rough or soft ground is exhausting and sometimes impossible. SNOW ON WORKHORSE PATHS
Переглядів 355 місяців тому
Snow doesn't stick to the WorkHorse, multi-use path surface yet the traction arcs minimize slipping when snow covers the surface. Even compacted snow from foot and wheel traffic shovels off easily. Even if there is a little residual moisture on the surf...

    All of these situations can be answered better by using a hand truck. A hand truck allows all the load to be balanced over the wheels. Big or ungainly loads can be easily and rapidly tied on around the main part of the hand truck. It's simpler and cheaper.

    I use the front lip of my conventional steel t5raty wheelbarrow to move garbage cans and other big, heavy loads without lifting them in the tray. I tilt the wheelbarrow vertically, then push the load into the front of the wheelbarrow. If need be, a rope or two can be tied around the load to hold it in place. Then, simply push the wheelbarrow handles down, which lifts the load so it can be moved on the wheel. A little practice will reveal the utility of this method. This video shows what can no doubt be useful to some contractors, but I don't see a use for it as a homeowner.

    Those two forks used for lifting should be replaced with a couple old leaf springs. The springs would easily fit under tight spaces without binding as much and the further you can get them under the more leverage and balance you have. Even thinner springs should easily bear the weight.. Also you might consider larger diameter tires to make pushing easier. I really like the counterbalance idea so you keep your body weight for traction.

      skid steer with brush hog, or a tractor towing a brush hog, is your best bet. You can rent one or hire a team to mulch it all and then prevent regrowth by continuous mowing from spring-fall. If you have large property you'll need a tractor for maintenance and should buy a mower attachment based on your needs.

    If only they could have seen what they had on west coast and in the European alps. Northern Italy, Switzerland, Austria, eastern France and most of the Baltic nations have small Yarders that handle relatively big wood. It’s great to see someone trying to be innovative with what they have and based off the desire to do it right and considerate of impact.

    Bought this and it is everything they say it is, really awesome, effortlessly manage very large boulders. Very well made, actually haven’t seen this kind of quality in a piece of equipment in a very long time. I added the tractor bracket to make transport easier for longer weightier hauls. Really love the fact that it is multiple tools in one.

      That's great to know. We're currently selling and I would like to work with timber as a 1 man operation when we move. I would be happy to put a prototype into action using your experience to minimise experimental errors in getting a working system. I suppose you're looking to use remote machine operation and auto drop while the one man rigs from the harvest site. I've got your web site for wheeled hand tools and may get in touch in the future. It could be a satisfying experience getting a challenge like this to function well. (Addition: I have an Environmental Science and education background))

    If you go to the firewood calculator at www.csgnetwork.com/logweight.html and enter 0.1 and "Maple, hard" it will yield a green weight of 530 pounds for 1/10 cord. They include this caveat: Wood varies considerably in weight based on numerous factors, including area, climatic conditions, cutting time, age and many more condition.

  • @4hawk9
    @4hawk9 6 років тому

    If you go to www.engineeringtoolbox.com/weigt-wood-d_821.html you can see that a cord of sugar maple weighs about 5600 pounds green and about 4400 pounds dry. Since the firewood in the video is air dried, it would have been more accurate if I said the 1/10 cord load weighed about 440 pounds.

    I made a cart out of a Toro riding lawnmower frame. I shove a straight axel under it put the back tires in the center of the frame. As Pontiac says, wider is better. Then took the front wheel from it and another lawnmower did that to each end. To allow you to push and pull. 6 wheels. Works great. I used push mower handles as my side bodies and handles. Yeah , once you start thinking, anything possible.

      Hi Roibert, A Kawasaki Mule is a handy machine for hauling firewood, but it can't roll heavy loads through 30 inch wide doorways or gates. The WHaTS firewood hauler requires no repairs and no gas, and emits no fumes. Also it can be changed quickly for other jobs like prying up rocks or moving long loads. Both are good tools. Best, Gerry Hawkes

    • @4hawk9
      @4hawk9 8 років тому

      +TheDavenator7 The pry bar tips are slightly angled to help hold loads, but angling too much would require that the WHaTS frame be tipped up beyond vertical when starting a pry, making levering more difficult. The clamp works great because it locks itself down and can hold rocks that extend well beyond the ends of the pry bars. If the pry bars are too long you get less lift.
