They released some deluxe (prestige) editions of Lone Wolf and Cub in Germany and France. They looked very good. Not sure if those were on your radar. Those could be a blueprint for a possible English release.

Hate reading is one thing, but why would you hate buy it... If you own manga you are done with it and want to let go of, then there should be no issue selling it. This idea of reselling your own stuff being bad is nuts. The lines are blurred I suppose by the massive price gouging that went on when so many volumes were out of stock post covid, which drove prices through the roof artificially. If you want to sell your stuff, sell it, if people think the price is too high, they don't have to buy it. Simple. Why waste limited shelf space with books you don't like/want?

Mangaswap is really great! Got almost every series in my collection from there. The first thing I ever bought was Berserk deluxe through amazon, and even with the good deals there, it is so much cheaper on mangaswap. Just picked up Golden Kamuy on there for a steal :D

As bad as Viz can be for quality control, Kodansha just seems like a lottery as to whether the volumes are fine or a mess. Puts me off buying Initial D and The Fable.

Viz media teased the definitive editions of vagabond coming in 2025 which are deluxe since they look to have the leather cover and 7x10 dimesions

DH did come out with berserk in hard cover in 2019 but viz did a deluxe way back in a 2 hardcover slip case in 2012 then kodansha did come out with the ghost in the shell 1,1.5,2 in 2017 but with print on covers/image over the hardcover and battle angel alita hardcover/box set in 2018 but they never did battle angel alita last order sad face.i went to anime nyc and the guys over at dark horse are really close with goe tanabe and talked about a'lot so i know the reason he is getting a deluxe edition in a crazy new style but knowing how much the announce stuff in bigger bulks now we can get 2 hardcover announcements gants and lone wolf and cub(they are reprinting the 3 in 1 so it could happen) but they can do planetes in one big hardcover 5 volumes in 1(it was done in Spanish or Portuguese) the biggest next to blade of the immortal volume 6 with 4 volumes in it.

Vinland Saga is absolutely NOT the first deluxe edition (by your definition) done by a publisher other than Dark Horse lol

The fact that there is still no definitive edition for Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z from Viz is disgusting, especially when there have been countless premium editions of Dragon Ball in Japan over the years. It's so sad that the Manga rights for DB in North America is owned by a company that does not give a shit. Like how are they still using the same translations from 20 years ago and not updated it?🤦‍♂
