Jaegers - Finnish Army (1980's)

Wanted to call this video sisu, but of course everyone and their mum's made a video on finland and called it sisu, so jääkärit it is. Not that jääkärit is even really the correct term for 'jaeger', jääkäri is, but i think jääkärit looks better. Finland's military archives are relatively shallow for a country with a very significant position in the cold war so the video also has a tidge of footage from 1979 and 1993 in it (sue me) but it looks 80's enough for me to throw it in so who cares really.

I'll just direct you to the wikipedia page for the finnish defence forces i guess but seriously do not even bother with the cold war section (there isn't a single source for that whole block of text and the whole page hasn't had any significant changes since like, 2022.)

Did they win?
The JDS led to direct presidential elections later in the year- Roh Tae-woo ( the military's choice of canditate) won by a small plurality (it's alleged that he won via signfiicant election fraud with the help of the CIA, but this is disputed). Regardless of how/why he won, Tae-woo went on to concede to the protests and found the Sixth Republic (the current liberal democracy that SK has to this day) therefore the JDS effectively led to the dismantlement of the military dictatorship that had been in power since 1961.

Where did you get all those clips from? Haven't seen alot of them.
sorry for the late reply. the largest portion of these clips came from the excercise "thunder chariot" performed in 1984: ua-cam.com/video/b1ZWlqda9Ek/v-deo.html while some other clips were taken from a camp attack newsreel from 81: ua-cam.com/video/kq4Hk8D-NM8/v-deo.html a portion of the footage was also taken from two military archive sites, one of which appears to now be down, but i managed to recover one of the source videos for you: www.cvet.org.za/displayvideo.php?vid=207-784-378
