Planet Shivers Video The Legendary Bruce Bickford

In April when I began recording the Planet Shivers podcast, visual artist Abigail Bramen was the first guest. During that recording, I also filmed our conversation with one stationary camcorder-just to see how it would look. I watched through the footage afterwards, and wasn’t happy with how the video came out as a whole. The footage ended up on the shelf until two weeks ago, and as the podcast...

I’m very grateful for being alive to see and experience Frank Zappa ,Bob Dylan. Keith richards ,Jimi Hendrix and the other renaissance musician of the60s and 70s Tulls Ian Anderson , Joe Cocker ,Traffic’s Steve Windwood and Dave Mason. And so many more that I didn’t mention out of kindness to others who might not want to read a book .
I feel Mr. Zappa was the most versatile composers who ever played a guitar. And play guitar he could. Guys like Frank Zappa are not three finger guitarists. Having the kind of mastery over his guitar that Jeff Beck, Pat Martino let’s get real for just a second ,many of the so called ‘greatest ‘guitarists of the later 20th century wrote with great commercial success would have to be honest and admit that he played all over most of the idols of rock n Roll.
If anyone is interested in Frank Zappa's home life, not shown in other books, from getting up to going to bed, composing at the piano, rehearsing with the Mothers, visiting rock stars, freaks, family squabbles, and more, then read 'Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa 1968-1971 Laurel Canyon'. It is my story from meeting Frank in London when publicising the Mother's first European tour in 1967 and ended up living and working in his house with Gail, Moon Unit, and seven others, thus the book's unique access.
A wise old owl, was Frank Zappa... Gone way too early.
Zappa - the “engineer” of music ❤️
Wish he were still here. Would like to hear his take on Trump.
Thx +++ !!
I've heard weirder names In America!
I love Frank Zappa.
Another day, another sausage.
The present day pachuco refuses to die
One of the best things about Frank was his hate and loathing for Republicans. Can you imagine what he’d think about these Trumpets? Like gag me with a spoon they are so gross, eww 🤮.
Yes, Moon Unit is a very cool name, but people usually don't go by their first and middle name. They were all a little too caught up on the name when she played a part in creating a culturally significant though horrible (on purpose I'm sure) 1980s pop rock parody song. It's always worth a laugh and to recognize that the young folks right now are speaking a lot like 1980s valley girls. She was Moon Zappa as a VJ. Her name is Moon. Moon Zappa to the rest of us, for sure.
They copy each other the same dumb questions, LIKE TODAY. They want to get money not even taking the time to think, let alone research, a different one.
wholesome
I wanna be known as Ima dick, lol
Moon is a great name....but Dweesal is not.
Yeah, we thought the names were a little odd. But look at the stupid ones some other stars have come up with. Apple Bluebell Blue Ivy Kulture Kiari Cephus Gravity Raddix Moroccan Pilot Inspektor Zolten Moxie CrimeFighter Sage Moonblood Audio Science Puma Sabti Seven Sirius And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
At the end of this film I had tears in my eyes. This man was really special in all imaginable ways and I am not surprised that his offspring are at least as amazing. Thanks Frank!
quel plaisir de voir cela...
This is a wonderful tribute production. And yes, it's the last name that's important.
Frankie was a cool guy..and he was from Baltimore..he had street cred
That was beautiful. His children must miss him tremendously.
It's so funny to see some comments here criticizing him for be "so edgy," yet are unintentionally doing the exact same thing with their "edgy" counters to all the comments praising him. They feel it's a good thing to think differently than everyone else (which is true and wonderful and great!), but why is that suddenly bad when people do that to things THEY like? The edginess or counterculture-ness of people like Zappa is often seen as un-American too, because it doesn't fit into the so-called norm, but he was probably one of the most genuine and normal people out there. Look at the way that family loves each other! I wish my family was that loving and "normal." And that final sound bite after the credits roll encapsulates the dude. Honesty is what we all lack these days and then, and he wants more of it TO celebrate America. He was and is more real and more true and more American than 99% of all the flag wavers and chest thumpers out there.
Frank Zappa.....the true meaning of original
People asked Frank Zappa the stupidest questions about his kids' names. His kids were really great looking, as well.

Phenomenally curated. Thank you.
Zappa's most important interview ever: ua-cam.com/video/8mUQ00i9rH4/v-deo.html
RIP Frank
the man is pure genius
and a wonderful family man, a role model
It's hard to believe that he's really, really gone. 😢 and at such a young age too, 52 years wasn't nearly long enough to have this wonderful, funny, genius here on Earth with us. You are sorely missed Frank! 🥺😢😘🥰🥰
I'm a real Frank Zappa fan, I stared liking The original Mothers & really liked his music. What I would of liked to do is, talked to Frank about his album covers & some of the music he wrote, he was not your normal rock musician & neither were some of his early band mates, u really had to impress Frank to join his band either by the instrument u played or u had some side thing going that would impress Frank too, he liked people that played weird or odd instruments because as he said, "When I write music, I never really know what kind of instrument I'm going to need at that time." He disliked drugs & wouldn't allow any of his members to use them while on tour, if he caught u, u were fired, but not being at practice & on your own u were free to do what u liked. Frank didn't do drugs & didn't expect his band mates to do them either. As Frank said, "I'm freaked out on my own with the music I write.

Always forget how good Howard was. He was genuinely funny. Miss those days.
Aww... so glad you posted this. It brings back some great memories of a beautiful moment in time
I love Frank's middle finger at all of humanity's stupidity. What a transcendent figure.
Moon says her mother was a "nice lady." I don't think she thinks that now. That's sad for her.
Each one of us are unique and gifted each in our own way. Frank was part of my older sisters generation through which I was introduced. Sure I thought he was out there but that is a good thing, not a bad thing. I admire people that think outside the box and wish more people would expand their stiff boundaries. If people today would think for themselves being honest and took pride in the craft as Frank said instead of doing what their told we wouldn't be in the mess we are today.

Moon was a natural comedienne...
The best interviewer in the whole segment was Howard Stern.
“Tobacco is my favourite vegetable”
fame is boring
I still have my "Zircon incrusted " tweezers!
I always loved Frank Zappa as a performer and i enjoyed the fact that he was a proud Italian man . God bless you Frank and your family.
Dr. Demento, that voice
He was an azzhole.... He was in the Fairmont for about a week..and kept coming down to the desk wowwwwwwing everyone but me... He kept eyeing me up..he FINALLY got me alone and told me..."You and I could have a great life travelling the world...I have to leave soon..can we get together and talk about it....I am 'between ladies' right now." I went off on him... I told him ..."Stay away from me...I DON'T EVEN LIKE YOUR MUSIC..MUCH LESS YOU" He had been SO sure he was adorable...
Gone, but never forgotten..... ♥️🌹
