Classifying Triangles
Переглядів 621 день тому
Congruence: Scalene: 0 congruent sides/angles Isosceles: 2 congruent sides/angles Equilateral: 3 congruent sides/angles Angles: Acute: 3 acute angles (less than 90) Right: 1 right angle (90) and 2 acute angles Obtuse: 1 obtuse angle (more than 90) and 2 acute angles
Complex Triangle Problems
Переглядів 1521 день тому
Look for Linear Pairs! Look for Angles of a Triangle! If two sides are congruent, mark the two angles opposite them congruent If an angle is bisected, it is cut into two congruent halves An equilateral triangle has angles 60, 60, 60
Corresponding Sides and Angles in a Triangle
Переглядів 621 день тому
The largest side is opposite the largest angle The middle side is opposite the middle angles The smallest side is opposite the smallest angle
Exterior Angle Theorem
Переглядів 621 день тому
In a triangle, an exterior angles is equal to the sum of the two non-adjacent interior angles
Intersecting Medians (Centroid Problems)
Переглядів 421 день тому
Intersecting medians are cut in a ratio of 2:1. If given the small piece, multiply it by 2 for the large piece If given the large piece, divide it by 2 for the small piece If given the whole median, 2x 1x = median OR divide the median by 3 for the small piece
Isosceles Triangles, Angle Bisectors, and Equilateral Triangles
Переглядів 2921 день тому
Isosceles Triangles: If two sides are congruent, the angles opposite them are congruent Angle Bisector: An angle bisector cuts an angle into two congruent halves Equilateral Triangle: The angles of any equilateral triangle are 60, 60, 60

Parallel Lines with Algebra
Переглядів 121 день тому
Same or Different? If the angles are the same (both acute or both obtuse): set the expressions equal to each other If the angles are different (one acute and one obtuse): add the expressions to equal 180 Substitute in if necessary
Parallel Lines with Triangles
Переглядів 1321 день тому
FOLLOW THE TRANSVERSAL Look for linear pairs, angles of a triangle If two sides are congruent, mark the sides AND the angles opposite from them
Parallel Lines Cut By a Transversal
Переглядів 721 день тому
When parallel lines are cut by a transversal: All of the acute angles are the same All of the acute angles are the same Any acute and any obtuse angle add to equal 180 Extend your parallel lines Extend and FOLLOW THE TRANSVERSAL
Triangle Inequality Theorem
Переглядів 1621 день тому
The two smallest sides of a triangle must add to be larger than the third side If given two sides of a triangle, to find the range of possible values for the third side: difference is less than x is less than the sum

Your answer to #6 is not strictly correct. You need absolute value bars on the variable x outside the radical. Both x and z might be negative in the original expression, but the square root of the square of a negative number, by definition, is positive.

Best math teacher ever. We need more teachers who care as much as you do. Shout out to the only math teacher who managed the worst math student ever to pass The algebra regents with an 85 when I was a freshman. I think it was the first year you taught. We called you guitar man. ❤️❤️✨✨

Thank you! But I don't recall ever having an Alice in class, I got horrible Regents results my first year teaching because I had no idea what I was doing, and guitar man doesn't ring a bell! Or maybe I'm just getting old and losing my memory! Thank you for the comment :)

Math Schlansky oh it’s Yajaira. Ha ha. I don’t think you would remember me. & That’s what we called you. Any teacher that helped me pass math one and never again deserves a huge prize. I aspire to be a teacher who cared as much as you one day. I still remember all the songs. Lol
