Made it through a freezing night at altitude.
Glad you could make it out to Colorado! We're headed there over Labor Day weekend. Your Tacoma and setup looks really sweet. It'll be fun to see where else you went in your travels.
Thanks for watching and the kind words! Next we're hoping to make Overland Expo East in Virginia in October. After that..... who knows.
Sorry folks. It's been a long time and I went so many places, I really don't remember.
What is the place? GPS?
Beautiful spot
so fucking what..?
Thanks for your comment. I know you put a lot of thought into it and probably had someone help you type it. God bless people like you that have mental handicaps and spend they're time trolling websites and making whatever contributions they can manage. Best to you. I hope you'll continue to seek therapy and make even greater contributions in the future
👏👏👏👏👏
Cool review 👍😎🎥🏕️
Great review. Thanks. Really loved the Mods!
Crazy how you have to drive through a grave yard to get there. There were crazy awesome monuments that you passed in the graveyard to get to see the TriState monument. I thought it was pretty cool to see how it was engraved into the granite for each state.
Loving the Drone footage. Hopefully that will be my next arsenal in my tech bag. Still amazed you got in that trailer.
Thanks. I'm still learning the drone myself. Kinda skittish to put it in danger. It already tells me .. High altitude, fly with caution. I modified the little trailer with a 4-1/2 inch lift and way bigger tires. It's not what you'd call an offroad trailer but it'll get down some tough forest roads.
@@GATORADDAM Nice! Well looks great on video. 😃
Beautiful.
Thanks. It's amazing.
@@GATORADDAM I’m hoping you can do a review/tour of the grill pullout set up you have?
@@notsosecretdiary1 I will do that. I'm planning a complete wall around after the 8th when the folks we're meeting up with and us part ways. Stay tuned and.... Thanks for watching.
Great spot!! Can’t wait to see you guys
GORGEOUS, KUZ!
Thanks Kuz
yep. So you put it in the backseat area. Good plan. I like it.
Thanks..... Even though I usually tow a little semi offroad trailer now I try to keep everything truck based incase I decide to use the RTT or if I'm towing my tracker boat and wanna camp a few days. This kitchen is fantastic. A little pricey, but I think it's worth it .
Is that the name of the new cooker? Smokin Crow? I’d love that for my Suburban RV! Let us know how it works out for you!
Yes. The company is Smokin Crow. I bought their display model at an expo. This thing is fantastic! All stainless, no wood and just the right size. Very stable. Absolutely love it!
I bet listening to the stream was great for sleeping.
It was!
May I ask what town in Kansas?
Looks chilly, at least you have a nice cozy space to hang out in now. Safe travels my friend
It's cold for sure. About 29 degrees right now at around 9 my time. Yes, this beats my rooftop tent in harsh weather. I wouldn't be up here in my RTT.
Very cool. I know that feeling. Reminds me of the La Sal Mountains outside of Moab, UT. How much snow did you get that night? Hopefully you made it back to wherever you were headed safely. Thanks for sharing your cool (literally) adventure!
I'm actually still here. Great cell signal so I uploaded the video a couple of hours ago. It stopped snowing without any real accumulation. Thanks for the kind words!
Awesome. Have fun and drive safe. What spot is that- La Sals or Rockies?
Is this Shafer Trail Moab? I was there in 2021- around the time two poor guys, 56 and 47 were on a similiar area with a grade. I think their e brake cable snapped on their old jeep and it rolled backwards and off the cliff tragically. The areas out west are amazing but you have to be careful. Things can get real in a hurrry.
Yes. I actually took the Shaffer switch backs to the White Rim trail. It's a beautiful drive in itself. But you need to be on top of your driving game or it could be game over!
@@GATORADDAM So you did a small section- down the switches to White Rim. It is fun doing the full drive from Potash Rd. (Right at McDonalds from Town/Main St.) Yeah, you don't want to be distracted with cameras and whatnot. I found if I go low and slow, it's never a problem. I took on Hell's Revenge the same way and made it twice. We rent UTV's for that one- it is challenging. I think you would love the ride out to Chicken Corners via Kane Creek, via Hurrah Pass (the highest spot and also the halfway mark.)
@DG-ti1jb I did Chicken corners last year and of course hurricane pass. I camped at catacomb rocks. I've done Black Bear, Imogene, Engineer, Ophir, California, and all the rest in Colorado. I've done the Rimrocker. I've done Nemos tunnel in Tennessee. So many great trails everywhere. I'm now debating doing top of the world next week
@@GATORADDAM You get around- very nice. Which trail so far is your favorite?
@UTAH100 Without a doubt Black Bear Pass!
I lived here for several years...I miss it terribly....I WILL own a home here one day
I hope you get the place you're hoping for!
Finally got it. At least we will be cool.
It looks peaceful and that water looks like glass with the reflection so clear beautiful so calm. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks. This was a long time ago. But I still go out that way on occasion.
Your comments about food. Years ago we did a sheep show and shared the fairground with an Octoberfest, we ate well and both sides picked up some business from the other side.
Damn, that sounds like a fun event! I'm getting ready to head out to Tennessee next week to attend the expo at Brushy mountain state prison. Google that one if you haven't heard about it. That's gonna be fun! I'm sure I'll do a video of that one. They'll have food trucks and apparently a restaurant inside the prison!
580 campers was the official number from the owner.
Love that part of Florida. Nice set up
Thank you
I think it's the Town of Mountain Lakes, not to be mistaken for Mountain Lake in Liberty/Belvidere NJ
It's been so long. I couldn't believe I still remember how to get there.
NO. This is Mountain Lake in Liberty Township, New Jersey...Right next to the Warren County Seat of Belvidere, New Jersey
That's pretty awesome. I think it's the town of Liberty. I used to love to skate on pond ice. You had to make sure your skates were really sharp to be able to cut into the smooth hard surface. Great video.
Thanks for watching. Great memories.
Love it. What was scary about the trail?
It was pretty tore up because of the recent near record rains. The area called Hardscrabble was particularly hard. It was narrow with washouts and very loose shale / dirt kinda mix. I was going up one very steep incline and around a tight switchback. I lost traction and slid sideways enough that now the back end of the truck was facing the couple hundred foot dropoff. No backing back and had no traction going forward. I engaged the rear locker and was fortunately able to crawl up and around. But a scary moment for sure!
@@GATORADDAM that sounds super hardcore!!!
@@AT-yv2lx It was super fun!
Very nice. Did you see any mountain lions? I see there paw prints all the time, near water sources in Long Canyon. We want to camp on W. Rim next year. Only made it as far as muscle man arch. Nice ride via Shafer. You should also check out Hlls revenge and Chicken Corners.
Thanks for watching! I didn't see any mountain lions. I was kinda hoping to... from a distance. Lol. I did do Chicken Corners. It was a great trail. Not hard but enough technical spots to make it fun, and the views were great. White Rim is amazing! I wish my GoPro hadn't givin me issues because I really wanted to capture Hardscrabble. It was plain out scary but so much fun. Camping on the trail is OK. But honestly a little to campgroundy for me. I prefer more natural wild camping.
@@GATORADDAM Next time you could venture into the king Creek trail so on your way to chicken corners it's on the left. That's an amazing trail but a little bit challenging.. It starts out very easy and has numerous water crossings I did it on an enduro KTM all the way out to the road which again was challenging you would never make it in your truck but it's a fun trail to even get out and walk or hike for 15 minutes not campground at all There are campgrounds though down that way on the right hand side. In many areas to explore Moab.
@@GATORADDAM Video would never capture hard scramble.Hlls Revenge is really fun. Challenging.
Nice spot. Any water near by? Just keep an eye out for mountain lions though it looks like the water channel is all dried up. Nice view.
Nope, no water anywhere. It was nice and quiet except for occasional ATV groups off in the distance.
Nice. I felt that way my first time on it. Soon though, you get use to it. Now I drive up Hell's Revenge no problem. It's way harder than Shafer x10. It's a fun trail. The trail out to Chicken Corners is also something you should check out some time if you ever return. Long Canyon is fun to. You can take that back down from the top of Shafer if you have a 4x4. You just have to take your time and respect these trails. We ride in the canyons too. It's well known that many trails will let you in easily- but not out without a fight.
Thanks. I did do Chicken corners and Long Canyon as well as the White Rim trail. Camped on it for 2 nights. Beautiful place. Before that I did some trails in Colorado. Black Bear pass is my all time favorite.
@@GATORADDAM I LOVE Chicken Corners, especially up to the pass. I like Kane Creek as well (on the way to the pass on the right.) I want to camp on White Rim. Only made it to Muscle Man Arch which was cool. I like that shelf road! My calm wife was quite nervous but she survived! I thoughts about the Imogene Trail and/or Black Bear but I don't think I am at your level of driving. Imogene might be more my speed...thought I have successfully driven Hell's Revenge a few times which was fun.
@@MOAB-UT "My level of driving" isn't that high. I'm from Florida, a true flatlander. If you have a qualified vehicle, good common sense and don't mind taking your time to get out and assess an obstacle before barreling over it you can do Black Bear. I've done Imogene, Engineer and most of the others. Start off on Ophir pass. It's one of the easier ones. Then do Imogene then Black Bear. Murphy Hogback and Hardscrabble on the White Rim was amazing! Not terribly hard but the dropoffs will keep the adrenaline going!
Why the rock wall? To help with wind?
Yep. To block some wind and reflect a little heat.
Are you seeing any wildlife?
Where is the night time clip?
It was pitch dark that night. I don't have any fancy camera gear. I tried but everything just came out dark. I even tried the offroad lights but that just looked like, well, brightly lit. I gave up.
Love it!
Thank you
Where are you
Last Dollar road near Telluride Colorado.
Looks quiet and peaceful! Enjoy & stay safe!
So you're gonna be moving soon huh? Lmao.
I am beyond jealous!!! Omg it's so beautiful!! And I bet you were a little shaken up recording on that tiny spot with the drop!! Holy crap thats a looooong way down lol
There were waaaaay worse ones then that on Black Bear pass!
They are in fact sheep Dad. And you need longer videos because I'm super jealous of this view and was dying to see more lol
My brand new F*@!# GoPro took a sh*t! I'm down to the phone and it's hard to drive treacherous stuff and film.
@@GATORADDAM what?? How you JUST bought it???
It froze completely. Couldn't do anything with it. Not even turn it off. It ran out of juice last night and of course turned off. I recharged it this morning and it works fine again. If it wasn't sealed I would have pulled the battery yesterday to reboot it. Once you start the decent on The Steps there's no stopping and doing anything anyway. It's so steep the parking brake would never hold and you'd slide off the side off the 1000 foot cliff!
Yo...did you stop making videos?
Yeah, kind of. I've been so involved in work i haven't been out much. I'm doing a trip from Florida to Colorado in July. Gonna camp and explore along the way and run Black bear pass and others once there. And I plan on lots of videos, pictures, drone footage and such!
@@GATORADDAM Nice...can't wait...I should be going from LA to Seattle soon. I have about 5 short videos I am currently needing to finish editing
Yes. It's Mosaic at the Forum in Fort Myers Fl.
where is that at? Florida?
