Mike Huckabee wants to replace the Constitution
Переглядів 5 тис.16 років тому
Mike Huckabee isn't satisfied to live in America, unless it's a theocracy. He has this problem of understanding all too well how this nation works: not to his liking. Specifically, not how he things god wants it to run. Here he is extolling how the Constitution should be changed to fall more in line with "god's standards." He was referring to blatantly discriminating amendments to the Constitut...

Moronic priest talks about atheism on Fox News

This guy is simply laughable in his arguments. But what else to be expected on Fox News? Originally from One Good Move: onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/2007/06/father_jonathan.html The most obvious case in this is his first point: atheism in it's weakest sense does not say there is not a god. The more cells you have, the more valuable you are. So I guess we’re saving elephants over human beings. A zygote is not a potential human being. It’s a human being. It is an organism with unique human DNA that grows through cellular reproduction, and has bodily unity. 96% of biologists agree. Whereas a skin cell is not a human being, it is a part of human being This is beyond dishonest from a supposed modern day genius. Sam Harris we can now clone human genomes, does that mean that we aren’t human, or ensouled from a religious perspective? And unless you can prove that the splitting is random then this argument falls apart. And regardless, the pro life position does not have to be rooted in Religion, you are the one who’s making it about Religion.

    Homosexuals and Christian share something in common the promise of disagreement, however homosexuals are trying to make statement. Are being revolutionists, but Christians quietly live out Christian living. In context i am saying Homosexuals want to be accepted and have power over other sexuality, but Christians are living for Christ and spreading good to the world but they are hated for that.

      @Dewaldt But they came from the same source. Mithras, Jesus, Osiris, Dionysos, Apollo, Krishna and others are all the same figure. It's just that each culture/region changed details to suit their own outlook.

    • @danielburger1775
      @danielburger1775 2 роки тому

      @Dewaldt They all have the same origin. Think of languages. Languages today that look or sound very different often have the same roots. The basics with "these religious figures" are the same though.

      @Dewaldt Went right over your head. The original figure was the same. But the religious institutions altered the structure to suit themselves. Are the religious institutions the same? No. And I NEVER said that they were. But does the figure of Christ come from the same source as the figure of, say, Mithras? Yes.

    How to be saved and be right with God for eternal life! 1-Admit you’re a sinner and be willing to turn from your sins towards God. 2-Believe onto Jesus Christ,who being the Son of God, died on the cross, was buried and resurrected for the forgiveness of our sins as a free gift. 3-Confess onto God,asking to be saved accepting this free gift of salvation, to start a new life being born again after being saved from your sins. Scripture links below. The romans road to salvation. 1.Romans 3:10, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" 2.Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” 3.Romans 5:8, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." 4.Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for all that have sinned:" 5.Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” 6.Romans 10:9, “That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” 7.Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. More scripture. John 3:16-17 16."For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” 17.”For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.” Romans 5:8-9 8."But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9."Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him." Corinthians 15:1-4, 1."Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2."By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.” 3."For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;” 4."And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:”

    To say or even imply that atheism is morally and intellectually superior to Theism is ludicrous. Atheists are responsible for more oppression, murders, and barbarism than all religions put together. Just read the histories of just a few of the 20th and 21st century atheists who had power and influence. Based upon the Godless philosophies of people like Leon Trotsky and Karl Marx humanity endured Adolf Hitler, Mao Zedong, Vladimir Lenin, Joseph Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Il-Sung, Idi Amin, Kim Jong-un, and Vladimir Putin. That is not to minimize the horrors of the inquisition or the crusades; rather, it is to demonstrate that atheism has absolutely no superiority. Humanity, whether religious or atheist, is depraved and capable of incredible acts because of a sinful nature. When given an opportunity sin and evil will rule if unchecked. The only answer is Christ, not religion and not atheism.

    this has been mostly debunked since. I would be curious if it ever reached Ireland. Britain has some mithraic temples but Roman influence was obvious in the archaeological evidence. the religion travelled with the legion armies! Curious sunken churches with specific reference to 'temples' on the islands off the west coast of Ireland. Mithraic temples (if not in caves) were built a meter or two below ground level. look at me boring the bejesus outta everybody! 🧙🏻‍♂️🦌

    Fry loves religion bashing. He never understood transcendentalism or archetypal mythology despite his book on Greek myths, which misses every deep psychological allegory. His researchers are to a large extent wrong, so please read this well researched item: "Is Jesus Simply a Retelling of the Mithras Mythology? | Cold Case Christianity" coldcasechristianity.com/writings/is-jesus-simply-a-retelling-of-the-mithras-mythology/ Fry always stereotypes Christians from ludicrous extreme examples, like American fundamentalists, building straw men. Mithras has been known about for centuries, no-one is 'angry' about it, the average vicar knows this stuff, and a good, say, Jungian knowledge of archetypal myth unmakes his case. Read it! And I don't see him rushing to get to grips with the underlying transcendental truths. He can't look within.

    Mithras is actually the constellation of Orion, who is kiIIing the precessional constellation of Taurus. This would have happened in 1750BC, according to the precession of the equinox - when Taurus ceded to Aries in precession. It is the same story as Gilgamesh (Gilgamesh is also Orion). And we do have an ancient narrative. Arthurian Legend (23th century) says that Pompey the Great brought the cult of Mithras back from Anatolia, during the Pontic war. And the name for the cult was derived from the Pontic king Mithradates VI - and nothing to do with the Persian Mithra. According to Arthurian Legend the ‘Mount Olympus’ mentioned is actually Gibraltar - a Pillar of Hercules. There was a large cave in the Pillar (a Mithraeum), and Pompey defeated the Pontus Pirates there. Ralph.

    Sam arguments aren't well put here. Science didn't really answer anything here, at best science delivers set of data which upon decision can be made to reflect upon moral and values of an individual or principles within the established system. Why number of cells at specific moments does matter? Does science tells us what we ought to do and at which number of cells it's okay kill a being for specific reason or any reason at all? It doesn't, it just can help us to establish such number. Same could be said between different humans, especially at different stages of development that differ in number of cells such as an adult and an infant. Number of cells seems like a completely arbitrarily characteristic to draw conclusion upon value of life that may result in relevant set of characteristic such as useful and feeling human entity or even feeling animal. Discarding potential on basis hypothetical and artificial capability to clone or genetically engineer some sort of isn't as well solid argument. First we can't do that. Second for sake of an argument let's assume we can. In case of cloning you would be creating copy what would simply devalue value of individual as everyone would become easily replaceable and things such as murder would be minor inconvenience (depending of course on hypothetical time and resources required to clone) to everyone else, barring perhaps individual killed leaving death only big deal for specific unit that got killed as for everyone else clone would be just like previous unit (maybe perhaps outside some people with subjective sensitivities regarding cloning or religious folks that insist that clone doesn't have soul or has different one). Three even if you could engineer other life that would simply mean value of life in totality also would drop (unless perhaps engineered life form is qualitatively worse than ones produced by natural processes or to small degree artificially) for same reason as above. So it bring interesting issue of cloning and engineering could present if we would capable to produce humans of about equal or better utility, but not really much of a use in context of abortion. Four, even in such case process of developing such life wouldn't begin unlike in pregnancy, in which case human baby depending on stage pregnancy with various likelihood will be born, through most of that period with far greater chances of doing so than not and in case it doesn't abortion is pointless as result is about the same . Five, essentially by dismissing potential and future you would be either forced to rely on past status as justification for not being killed while in coma, unconscious, vegetative state (which you could depend on case recover from), drugged to the point of inability to feel pain and think (what also hammers Sam concern with causing suffering as you could kill someone painlessly), even if you insist on suffering of family member or friend that would still justify killing people that don't have friend or family that cares about them, hell it perhaps could even justify killing everyone (good known world destroyer issue brought in context of negative utilitarianism) as it's possible that our living causes more suffering (and certainty than it otherwise it would) than positive experience either to ourselves, others or both. Even if you hand-waved it by stating that life is still worth living despite of it, same argument could be applied to fetus. So really Sam's arguments are about as valuable as those some of eugenicists that promote genocide of groups with inferior IQ (after all lesser number that can have substantial result on final product ie human), promising better world and future based on differing numbers and have some factual basis in the goal but still unappealing to anyone who isn't possessing values that of social Darwinist or potentially utilitarian and creates nasty implications for treatment of life and humans, just like abortion does .

    I lost confidence in QI's Biblical knowledge in the episode where Stephen Fry claimed that Luke was the Gospel that tried to fulfill the Old Testament prophecies when in fact it was Matthew. This is basic Bible knowledge. The alleged parallels between Mithras and Jesus are consistently misrepresentations of what Christians actually believe. Its a shame that, even though Fry hinted at some dissent by Christian apologists, he didn't actually tell what these counter arguments are, nor why he is so sure they are false. See link below for the briefest of introductions to the issue. ua-cam.com/video/qrCYVk6xrXg/v-deo.html
