Oh, btw, you know those glyphs that are present in both of the boss strongholds? They're Chozo glyphs, the letters of the Chozo's language, the bird people race that raised Samus after Ridley killed her parents. I've taken the liberty to translate them: the ones in Kraid's hideout say "Thoha", and the ones in Ridley's say "Mawkin". They're two distinct tribes of Chozo! The Thoha were peaceful scientists while the Mawkin were aggressive warriors. I honestly really like it, this HD remaster shows that one of the strongholds, the one that looks like a derelict temple and scientific facility overrun with vegetation, belonged to the Thoha, while the other, the one that looks like a militaristic base with practical scaffolding, combat drones and whatnot, belonged to the Mawkin. Really cool way to actually give a purpose to these locations!

...after seeing you find Fake Kraid and then finding the entrance to the actual Kraid fight... I was honestly left wondering "dude, why are you turning back, he's right there"... Ah, you were just stocking up. Also there's a hidden E-tank in Kraid's arena. But it doesn't matter, there's 8 in the game but only 6 count for your health. And yeah, you gain 75 missiles after defeating Kraid and Ridley. Wait, the game respawns you with full health and missiles once you die! Thank you! That's literally the only gripe I had with the original, you respawn after death with nothing but 30 hit points total in there!

5:52 ah, that would be a dead Space Pirate! Yeah, surprisingly, they were pretty absent in the original Metroid. They didn't even have defined looks for them. All the other critters you kill, besides Kraid, Ridley and the Mother Brain, are just Zebes' natural fauna. Zero Mission would explain that in its own way: the ones who remained in Zebes were killed in Tourien by the Metroids. The rest of them were in their Mothership. 1:15:15 and that is a Metroid husk, or cocoon! A bit odd, since the Metroids only evolve past their larval state in their home planet, SR388. Oh yeah, the Metroids you kill in most games are just larvae btw. Adult specimen, but still stuck as larvae. Only in SR388 can they form a cocoon of sorts, evolving into more complex and vicious life forms. ...damn, your cussing is as loose as a waterhose. "Like, what the fuuuuhck!" Feels like the early 2010s UA-cam all of a sudden lol. In fact, it kinda reminds me of my middle school times, when every classmate I had cussed cus it was cool or something. But yeah, I agree, Tourien ain't easy. That Zebetite and the MB boss fight are the bane of a lot of people.

Also, pro tip - if you want to do a precise jump to a small platform, _don't_ somersault. And another, with these enemies that fly downwards in arcs, if you see that they stay stuck to the floor, you have to jump over them to make them jump up. Learning about those enemies' patterns helps a lot, trust me. Also, if you want me to be very honest, there's no benefit in going after Kraid before Ridley. I know it's the series' tradition due to Super and Zero Mission, but I wouldn't say Ridley's hideout is tougher or trickier than Kraid's. Hell, I'd say Kraid's hideout is more evil for an unsuspecting player. At least you get to stack up on all powerups through Norfair on your way to Ridley. Thankfully the beams stack in this version. And damn, I'm not one to complain about cussin' and I know this game is a bit clunky, but holy hell you'd give the Nerd a run for his money. Cus dude, you have the Screw Attack. If you control Samus well, you won't have to worry about health ever again!

i don't think stretching the screen helps.. in fact keep it 3:4 and just put a picture behind if you don't like the black bars left and right. Metroid - zero mission is probably one of the few remakes that I approve of. But the morph ball and long beam should just be standard. like starting with them. Long beam isn't even a thing past metroid 2 anyway.. a concept who's time has past.

...yeah this goes to show the original game needed _way more_ than just a palette swap. If you want a more palatable experience with the original Metroid, I recommend Metroid Planets. There's one of the older versions, which has both the original game and a new campaign, as well as a room creator and a random map generator; and the most recent version, which has the original game, lacks the new campaign due to some issues, but has a lot of new stuff for the room creator and the map generator.

Well, I made it an hour 35 minutes in. But like, I just realized how many times I was, "WHY is he jumping towards, running toward enemies and jumping IN to the lava over and over?!?"... Agh... ah... my brain. I can't take it anymore. It makes no sense.
