E-Learning doesn't need to be painful, and this is why I want to make it my mission to share tips and tricks with other Instructional Designers and E-Learning Developers so that they too can make e-learning suck less.
Creating a Simple Test Out Opportunity in Articulate Storyline 360
In this video, I'm showing you how you can allow learners to test out of content within an #articulate #storyline 360 course. I'll preface this by saying that when creating test-out assessment items, you will want to ensure the assessment items are well-written and allow the learners to demonstrate mastery of the content for which they may be testing out of taking.
This strategy can be employed at the course level (e.g., testing out of a full course) or the module/topic level (testing out of a smaller chunk of content) and can be beneficial when there are concerns about length of time spent taking training or maintaining multiple versions of courses (e.g., one for existing employees and one for new hires). These are just a couple of use cases.
The programmatic setup is super simple - you'll mainly be working with a test out intro slide, a draw from question bank, and a result slide. Passing the assessment funnels the learner to the end course slide whereas failing the assessment funnels the learner to the start of the content slides. #elearning

In this video, I'm showing you how I use AI Assistant to help generate a very specific image based on a prompt, and then add any appropriate image generations to my media library. #elearning
Generating Voice Audio Using AI Assistant in Articulate Storyline 360
Переглядів 7113 місяці тому
The AI Assistant in #articulate #storyline 360 is super handy when it comes to generating AI voiceover. They leverage ElevenLabs and while the selection is still limited (there are about 52 voices to choose from now), it provides - in my opinion - higher quality voiceover than the standard neural voices within Storyline 360. In this video, I'm sharing how I leverage the AI Assistant to first dr...

Переглядів 9044 місяці тому
Exciting times this week! #articulate released their AI Assistant for Articulate #storyline360 and Articulate #rise360 While I see the global Articulate AI products expanding in functionality in the future, this release provides some pretty neat functionality that can help us work smarter, not harder. As with all things AI, human validation is critical, so don't think of this as an ID or develo...
Change Text Label Language in Articulate Storyline 360
Переглядів 3204 місяці тому
When you're working with #elearning translations, it's important to consider both the translation import and the text label adjustments. This is an extra step to ensure that you're localizing your courses effectively as importing a translation via File does not automatically translate your player labels. This is how you do that in #articulate #storyline
Turn off Lesson Count in Articulate Rise 360

In this video, I'm showing you the 2024 way of turning off Lesson Count in #articulate Rise 360. The method is slightly different than the 2022 method from a previous video of mine as Articulate has updated functionality and the interface somewhat since then. #elearning
Create an Image Zoom Region in Articulate Storyline 360
Переглядів 1,9 тис.10 місяців тому
This is one of the easiest things I can show you how to do in #articulate #storyline 360: Add a zoom region to an image. What is a zoom region? It's a function that, when enabled, allows a learner to zoom in on an image. Why would you want to leverage this functionality? You may want to use this for images that are super-detailed and which the learner may want a closer look at. #elearning
Allowing Scrollbars for Fixed Sized Text Boxes in Articulate Storyline 360
Переглядів 78910 місяців тому
Here's another helpful tip when working with text boxes in #articulate #storyline 360. This tip comes into play when you've defined a fixed-sized text box (e.g., you've drawn the text box in the size you want it to remain). Now it used to be that you could 'shrink text on overflow', which is no longer an option and one that I wouldn't recommend from an accessibility perspective. Why? Because th...
Ensure Text Wrapping in Data Entry Fields in Articulate Storyline 360
Переглядів 36110 місяців тому
This tip goes out to anyone who has been struggling to figure out why their data entry field text isn't wrapping...it's just continuing along horizontally. In the November 2023 update of #storyline, #articulate adjusted the verbiage from (I believe) autofit to Multi-line, which may have confused some who were searching for word wrap or text wrap or autofit in hopes of making this adjustment to ...

Thank you Ashley ! This video is very helpful
Love this! Excited to test it out in one of my projects :D
Quick, easy, exactly what I needed!
love this, thanks!
Thank you. This tip is very helpful.
Amazing Ashley! I wonder if this function works on mobile? I really need this function available or other ways to capture for mobile learning.
Nice and easy! Thanks for that.
Thank you! That will be a huge timesaver
YOU MADE MY DAY! THANK YOU!
Thank you! I needed to have the BG audio start on the 2nd slide but even when I set BG audio to stop at the start of the first slide, I kept hearing a fraction of the audio playing. These triggers helped stop that. Thanks!
Dear Ashley! Thank you very much! I am close to a major project and everything you present about AI support can be a huge help. Thank you!
Thanks for this, Im very interested to see some of the AI images and what else can be built with AI assistant :)
That's cool. My questions pertaining to AI is whether there is consistency with the voices or if you can dabble with the intonation to put emphasis in certain words... or are these features ideal as placeholders? (Both text and image.) And as I understand, there are further costs involved?
Re: Placeholders, I think it depends on your needs. Personally, for client work I would always disclose whether the VO or imagery are AI-generated and get sign off beforehand. In terms of the voices, I think there are about 50 to choose from - with different styles (e.g., conversational, animated, etc.) and there are some advanced settings you can adjust for stability, similarity, and style exaggeration. It doesn’t look as though you can dial in on intonation, but you should be able to write the text in a way that assists with that.
@@AshleyChiassonTutorials Yeah that's pretty much how I do it as well. It's just faster to get some concept and run it by the client to gauge client approval or where I am headed.
So nicely explained! Thank you!
The same is not true for centering images. The center guide does not show up for non built-in artifacts.
Thank you darling! I spent 4 hours looking here how to do it! And finally did with your video! Many kisses and hugs!!!
This was EXTREMELY helpful! Thank you. Worked great!
Thank you so much for this video! I knew this was a possibility, but I forgot that you had to right-click on the specific image and then click "Show in media library" for it to show the options to replace it with a new image. When you go straight to the media library, it doesn't show the options to replace the image. This is amazing!
If there is an image that appears many times on many slides, but you only want to replace the instances on one slide, is there a way to mass replace on just one slide? The only method I can think is to export the slide to a new file, replace the image, then import it back in. But, that's a fair bit of work.
If it’s only one image you want to replace on one slide, I would replace from the slide itself. Right-click image > Replace, or replace from picture format with the image selected.
@@AshleyChiassonTutorials I have an image that appears 108 times per slide (ya, I know. that's a LOT). I want all 108 to change on one slide. but all the other slides to keep the original.
Hm. Unfortunately there isn’t a quick way of replacing all, but retaining some. How many slides do you want it retained? My path of least resistance brain is saying to log all of the retention slides, replace the image using the media library, and then manually replace with the original image on the retention slides. That’s be a great feature request - a slide checkbox of sorts to indicate which slides you want it replaced on…
@@AshleyChiassonTutorials it'll be too many to do manually, no matter which slide I stay with. I'll edit then import. I was surprised you can search the media library by slide, but the replace feature doesn't match the search filter.
Do we need to change the RTL per slide or it can work for all the slides?
Thanks Ashley, it really made my life easy!
Thank you for the video, I've been looking for the way to do that. However, I can't see this feature in my Rise course settings. Is it still available in 2024?
It does still exist, it’s just moved a bit I’ll make a new video shortly. To turn off lesson count labels, go to Theme > Lesson Headers > Scroll all the way down, and turn the Lesson Count Label toggle to off.
and how to cheanging refill track depends where he moving Thumb?
Brillant, thank you!
Thanks - I wanted to know the difference between "restricted" and "locked" - and got exactly what I wanted. Thanks for this quick and to the point tutorial 😊
Can you customize the reference variable to display something other than true/false in the text box? Like plain/fun for example?
Hi Ashley! I'm recreating you tutorial as I practice and have a question. Is this really a Zoom Picture example rather than a Zoom Region? Seems like 2 different functions under Insert. Also, did you create the picture-in-picture (the graph arrays within the monitor)? I'm confused as to how I should select a photo and then select Zoom Picture. I am using a photo that is the full slide (such as a map) and want to zoom in on just one country on the map. Thank you :)
Yes, it is! I realized this after uploading and plan to correct it in the subsequent one. I’ll do this today and also post a proper zoom region 🤣
@@AshleyChiassonTutorials thanks! It was good practice for me to try both options. Appreciate you!
Are you able to allow only certain sections to be marked complete? Are you able to do anything within a lesson that the user could click a box and that would mark a specific lesson as complete?
Thanks!!!
Nice - thank you.
Gracias! ;)
Instead of adding a rectangle and making the transparency 100%, we can simply create/add a hotspot over the video to prevent clicking/pausing it.
This was helpful Ashley. I have branching and chapters in my module. Am I able to have the progress meter start at the beginning for each chapter using the Slide Master, or would I need to add this manually for each slide? I see the video was recorded 4 years ago, so there may have been Articulate updates to make this request possible.
Thank you. Just saved me a bunch of time!
Ashley, fantastic insight. You can also click each scene and look on the bottom left of your Storyline project to see how many slides are in that scene. Thank you for sharing and being an amazing eLearning evangelist
Hi! I was wondering if you know how the "Keep source start time" checkbox works. I would think that if this is unchecked, the object that is pasted will be at the current position of your playhead. However, it doesn't work for me. If my original object is at the 5-second mark and I want to reuse it at the 10-second mark, it will continue to paste it at the 5-second mark when I uncheck this box. Thank you!
Excellent video Ashley. Quick question, you did a crossword video sometime ago which I tried to duplicate. I found that I was able to type more than one character in a box. I tried to find a way to limit characters with no luck, but this seems to be the solution. Would this be the fix to allow just one character per text box?
Great video!
Great tip to have out there as a short and sweet video, especially for newbies :) Do you have a reason why you would use the 99% transparency shape over using a Hotspot with no associated Trigger? They seem to be doing basically the same thing.
you should speak up or buy a new mic.

I love your videos, made my first project with your help. Can you please make one on how to create quizzes with drop-downs? I have watched so many videos, but no one explains it like you do
Hi, do you have a method to export all audio files at once, or must it be slide by slide? Thanks!
The easiest way would be to go to View > Media Library > Audio. Here you can see all of the audio files in the project. You can select each and the 4th icon in the lower right (beside insert audio clip) allows you to export b
@@AshleyChiassonTutorials Great, thank you very much!

You sure can!
Thanks Ashley, this was useful.
Hi Ashley, Your video content is very good. I am a freelancer and SEO specialist. I see your content and I analyze your content. you don't do video SEO(search engine optimization ) is not ok your video) That's why your video is not going to rank on UA-cam and the views are low.
Thank you! Very clear explanation.
This is great, I was able to add avatars and when I select that Avatar comes up in the next slide. How can I make it appear throughout the course? Also the first Avatar selected is where the next slide will have the text stating now that you have chosen lets say Shannon. How do I program text in next slide for all avatars? I used a total of 8.
As always Ashley, you rock! I have been looking at little projects to do to enhance my portfolio and skillset and this is next on my list. Thanks for all the hard work that you do in putting out these tutorials.
