Message: The Great Turnip - The Power of Working Together
Rohr essential message is ALL is SACRED!! and be aware of dualism. Black and white thinking!!! joanne
What a pathetic talk the pastor gives! YUK !!! LOVE ???
I feel like I belong in this church and I’m so excited about it
Wrong ..most people are inherently sick selfish fools
Great presentation. This is an extremely important work. Thanks for walking in the footsteps of many others including your grandfather's for your generation. I am sharing this presentation. I am surprised that my home state of Texas is the hardest state to vote in since I have lived in Alabama and voted there as well. The vote by mail standards in Texas were definitely created to make your submitted by mail vote unlikely to be accepted unless you are an attorney or coached. I really took to heart the Fredrick Douglas quote, Thanks again for sharing.
Very nice
Wow! What a great message. Gives me hope for working people!
This is hilarious.
I wish I had heard more talks like this when you were at Community UU. This is wonderful.
This is a church service? There is no mention of God or sorrow for sin.
Why do you colour your hair 😮
Thank you, Community UU AV folks, for making such a lovely presentation to accompany the remembrance my sister wrote for our Daddy, and for putting it on your UA-cam channel so I could see it!
Your mental instability really shows up when you PROJECT unconsciously (no matter how intellectualized) unto others. You'd be better to say nothing. You are the thing YOU HATE, love. Good luck to you. (Sometimes when something horrible happens it's actually for benefit, but our minds are so small we don't see the complete picture, just a tiny shadow on the wall.) You may wish to update your awareness of those who are the "source" of your discontent. When a person is put through hell, it sometimes happens that they are purified and made clean in the process.
Excellent tallk.
Concerning Trump and the trupsters: Sometimes people get into this radical, nazi-- ish stuff because they are really afraid of being overwhelmed. Overwhelmed by the other, by the different, and are afraid that they will no longer be able to be themselves. Determining if they are really in danger of being overwhelmed can be a bit tricky and complex. But once this is determined, there are two directions that people can take. - - - Either let them know that this is not happening and that they really don't have anything to worry about. - - - - Or yes, this is happening, but let's find safe, happy, peaceful ways of settling and addressing things, so that everyone can have a good, happy and fulfilling future.
Nice job👍👍 very beautiful video👍👍
I'm sure she's nice. That's the goal right? The non church of non-mean people. And, that's it. The gaslighting Rohr strikes again : "Those who are ready...". Cultic superiority and in-club mentality. The Gospels are wrong, according to Rohr.. Jesus is useless according to Rohr. The world is a mess, but all religions lead to heaven and there's no hell cause it's mean.. traditional Christian understanding is a sickness. The whole sermon seems nebulous. Sorry, it's like seeing a house of sand built on sand. The house of Rohr.😢
I'm trying to get a sense of what identity she's going for here. The florescent multicolor hair and the office worker glasses and clothes has me baffled. What social identity is happening here?
Does it matter?
Who cares, perhaps she's a sentient individual being capable of choice?
@@mhaseth Yes appearances are so of little consequence! Heart, faith love vibrate deom her!!! Joanne
'Non-dualistic-duality' at that fat dopey windbag Rohr drones.
If God said, "Let there be light" and there was light... What was God thinking when He said, "Jesus"?
A beautiful thought provoking sermon.
When my wife passed away two years ago, her death was the key event that opened the door into my second half of life. I began a new faith journey after her death. I was raised a Catholic but how our pastor was willing (or unwilling) to handle my wife's funeral reopened many questions I had regarding the Catholic Church's doctrines and practices. Fr. Rohr was a great aid in helping me through this difficult time in my life. Unlike, Fr. Rohr, I found it impossible for me to stay affiliated with the Catholic Church. His books, along with Bishop Shelby Spong's, led me to the Unitarian Universalism. Knowing that there is no one 'correct' answer for everyone's faith journey appears to be a key message of Fr. Rohr. I would encourage others to read more of his books. You may find them helpful on 'your journey'.
😊
What an amazing message Fr. Rohr is truly a gift-and he (his message) is so needed today. Please don't loose faith or hope-although in times like ours currently with the dark fear based ideology that is promoted by the cowardice that is Trump has entered the national narrative. I continue to believe in the "content", that is in the container-humanKind!
Our Monthly touchstones theme is Remembrance. This sermon's history of Rev. James Reeb and Viola Liuzzo is perfect for reminding us of one important page in our history and sacrifices for justice and civil rights.
Great presentation on how voting needs to improve in Texas
Hi Darcy
RIP James Reeb (1927-1965) and Viola Liuzzo (1925-1965)
Wow. This is just intellectually dishonest. Perhaps the most milquetoast, non-defined thing ever. There is not one single, coherent theological thought. It's actually shameful.
Thanks for this! I live near your church and see it often when driving around town. Thought I'd check out a message and this one was wonderful. :)
Thank you so much! We're so glad it connected. :-) We'd love to invite you to join us any Sunday; right now we hold online services at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. You can visit our website to get the link: tinyurl.com/CUUCZoomRequest. Thanks again for watching, and have a good day. :-)
I'm looking forward to Sunday's service. My daughter and I just joined.
We are so excited to have you! Looking forward to this Sunday's service with you both. :-)
Thank you for a lovely service. Very well put together. Thank you Pastor Kris and Video Production Editor Kris.
Great service about coming together while we have to remain apart. So, a lifetime of a thousand friendships begins with a single (virtual) handshake. Like being on the road again with Ellington's Caravan wafting in the background and having a great time with all of Chaucer's characters before arriving at a grand party with all your friends together again. Just imagine what we can do even while remaining virtual. Thanks, Pastor Kris and Steve.
Wonderful to see how Taoism can help keep one's sanity when all about seems filled with changing chaos. Also LOVED the last song - rock on, chill out and know it will all turn out OK.
What a wonderful service. Thanks so much. What a realization that not all monuments are brass and cement.
You want to know what Matters to Black Lives? Just listen. Great perspective on equality of economics, justice and social conditions in our area as we all work towards our Beloved Community. So glad to hear that phrase used during the presentation. Many thanks for this service.
Loved the service. Your reflections and insights are so on point for now, a time when journeys are best done virtually. And who can beat Johnny Cash, who's been everywhere, man!
Since this was a Big Bend experience, it reminded me that I might offer the joy that it was there that I quit smoking tobacco and on July 20th, 2020, I can mark 1,000 days tobacco-free!
I can definitely relate to Kris' story. Somewhat similar experience I had more than 45 years ago, which some of you have heard me tell.
Great message. I would also recommend Heather Thompson's book, "Blood in the Water: The Attica Prison Uprising of 1971 and Its Legacy."
What a wonderful experience to see and hear what lessons that music has taught to so many of my friends. Kudos to Sandy Farlow, Elena Westbrook and all the other people who put this great worship of music together. It brings the rhythm, tempo, texture, harmony and melody to our lives while giving us lessons for living.
More "Songs of Joy" favorites from the choir -- “When Our Heart Is In A Holy Place” by Joyce Poley I grew up listening to all genres of music with my family - pop, opera, country and church! Though I had an affection for each of these styles, my favorite is church/religious music as I sang in my church choir as a child and in a school choir as a youth/teen and then as an adult again in church choirs. Also another hymn “I Know I Can” by Dennis Hamilton, former minister at Horizon UU Church. This one really speaks to me still especially during these stressful times of the pandemic. In faith and love, from Anne Smith “A Very Cellular Song”, by Mike Heron (Incredible String Band). Although I love the entirety of this multi-movement acid-rock classic, the closing chant has been my favorite since 1970, when I saw it artistically painted in flowing script at the fraternity I was pledging in college: “May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you guide you all the way on.” In Googling this recently, I found that it is regularly used as a farewell blessing by Kundalini Yoga practitioners and in some UU churches in a manner similar to our chalice extinguishing. ua-cam.com/video/GvvblmN1hEw/v-deo.html For those of you who know me well, selecting the one song that brought the most joy was difficult for me. “Ripple” by Jerry Garcia & Robert Hunter (Grateful Dead) was in the running for #1. And when I considered the songs that emotionally impacted me the most, poignancy kept bubbling up before joy, in such songs as Paradise, Hello in There (John Prine), Isn’t It a Pity (George Harrison) Holy Now (Peter Mayer), The Last Resort (Don Henley/Eagles).) from Dick Hildenbrand “Happy” by Pharrell Williams just makes me smile and want to dance! “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong is such a sweet song! “Finer Things” by Stevie Linwood for remembering the finer things of life, and living in the moment. “Singing in the Rain” performed by Gene Kelly so many joyful memories around this song and movie, I can’t help but smile and tap my toes! from Ina McBride “Rhythm of Life” by Cy Coleman I sang this in choir one semester and it's a very upbeat, fun song with a very catchy tune that always brings a smile to my face when it pops into my head. from Eric Schnurr ua-cam.com/video/2dXHPUHXpws/v-deo.html by UCLA choir. “Crowded Table” by The Highwaywomen I think this epitomizes the longing we are all feeling for community. It creates a picture of a loving, supportive group of family and friends that "brings us all together when the day is done.” from Mary Ann Owens ua-cam.com/video/ZPfI8zBWub4/v-deo.html An die Musik (To Music) by Franz Schubert - Schubert wrote this in 1817 to a text by his friend Franz von Schober. (ed.note: Jay sent us an English translation he recorded himself, but I am unable to get the link to work so you can see it…sorry) from Jay Dowling ua-cam.com/video/K01ge0qfLs8/v-deo.html And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make (Lennon/McCartney)
Great service. Loved the familiar Dr. Seuss story I remember reading to my kids and what wonderful original music. Thanks to all who had a part in doing this one.
Did anyone else have "Sing We Now of Christmas" in the audio starting at 3:xx?
So so grateful for you all and for having such a wonderful church family. Thank you for this.
THANK YOU all for doing this. It brings me such comfort. Karen Roggenkamp
