    Do you think it's possible to use the speedball screen filler with this drawing fluid? There seems to be several comments with filler issues.

    Why did you use the screen filler and the drawing fluid. If you are going to rinse it right off just paint the filler and print it lol

    I want to silk screen lettering on to an instrument panel with a 10 point font. What's the technique to print the screen in that instance?

    For some reason the Daler Rowney screen block I have is very buttery in consistency and has these white greasy patches in it like animal fat which I have tried to mix back in but the whole thing is not liquid so I can't apply it in one go. When I do apply it, it lumps up and the end result is patches where the colour gets through when printing. Would this be due to the room temperature or age and would you know of any remedies to make it liquid? Thanks for the video by the way.

    This screen block seems really thick and lumpy. Not only could I not pull it over my drawing in one go but it covererd my drawing which I had done in drawing fluid due to it being so thick. Not impressed. Am giving speedball a go now

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 3 роки тому

      Hi Robyn. The screen block needs to have a thick consistency so it holds in the mesh. It does take practice with this method. Check out our Kiwo filler video for a professional screen block that is also for longer print runs. This is not as thick and can be applied with a coating trough. Hope this helps.

    Have tried using the Screen block three times now following the instructions. Each time the screen block starts to come off immediately when I gently rinse the ink off the screen with cold water. On the second occasion it started to peel off while I was printing.This is incredibly frustrating . What am I doing wrong or is the product not fit for purpose? I bought the smaller bottle and the screenblock seemed thicker than the block used from the bigger bottle in the video.

    I used the system 3 screen print block after having painted an intricate design which took ages with the screen fluid. All washed out and produced a lovely stencil on the screen. However when I tried printing with Hunt the Moon water based ink, the screen block completely dissolved in the ink!! Not impressed. Is there some special chemical in the system 3 medium which doesn't dissolve the block? Hunt the Moon told me they had no idea why it happened, its all non toxic and water based etc ......

    Hi will a normal hose work if I don’t have a jet wash?

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 3 роки тому

      A jet wash will always work better but don’t go to close to the screens or you can rip them. I’ve used a normal hose but with good water pressure. The Kiwo brushes are good to use to scrub with a normal hose. I’ve also used a jet wash in the back garden when I didn’t have access to a studio.

    Hello, thanks for the video, really helpful. I’ve had the system 3 set for about 7 years and I’m only just about to use it! I’m issue is I don’t like the tracing aspect. Within the set is there a fixer I can cover the screen with and expose it to an acetone print in order to burn the image into my screen? Thanks

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 3 роки тому

      Use would need a photo emulsion to burn a more permanent stencil on the screen. This would need an exposure set up or access to an exposure unit in a print studio. Squeegee and Ink expose screens if you don’t have this set up.

    Can I use a paint brush instead of a squeegee to spread the screen block?

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 4 роки тому

      Sope Aribisala you get a smoother finish with a squeegee which important when printing. Practice makes perfect when using a squeegee.

    Hi there, I put screen block on my screen a few days ago but now I’m struggling to get it off, I used cilit bang but it didn’t seem to work

      Amy Bruning Hi, I use Mr Muscle, it a bit more soapy. Let it soak in but don’t let it dry on the screen.

    Hi, thanks for the video. Could you tell me the drying time of the screen filler and if you had to use warm water to strip it off?

    • @Screenstretch

      Catherine Tempest hi it was touch dry, but the longer it’s left the better. I used cold water and Mr Muscle to strip off the screen block

    Hi, I just got my kit, but I thought it was photo emusion, a little disappointed! Anyway, I have a question, what if I want to use my design the next few days after I did the first screen print? I just need to rinse the ink or I need to remove everything and draw again?

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 4 роки тому

      adriana barrios hi sorry I missed this comment. I’d clean of when you clean off the ink because water will start to degrade it.

    Hello ... can I use the screen filler to make a reverse stencil? Where ther image will be negative-to-positive? Or, should I use vinyl stickers on the screen, then apply the screen filler over them and remove the stickers after it dries?

    Sir is this emulsion good for solvent inks?

  • @NathanielChangPhoto
    @NathanielChangPhoto 4 роки тому

    I'm guessing the masking tape is to reduce the chance of extra emulsion on the screen edges, do you remove this when you wash the screen or before?

    Thanks for the demo. How many good quality prints can you get from 1 stencil?

    • @Screenstretch
      @Screenstretch 4 роки тому

      Aelwyn Rees the Daler Rowney screen Block is more craft oriented so for shorter print runs. I’ve got 10 good prints off using it. I prefer the Kiwo filler for longer print runs. It’s acrylic based and needs a Kiwo cleaner to remove the stencil. We’ve made a demo video of that product as well. Hope this helps. You can also contact the office on keith@screenstretch.co.uk if you require more info.
