I had the 128 rallye. Great car. Never let me down, Also had a 126, 124, 125 and Uno, No major problems just servicing. Had to replace the alternator on the Uno though.
@@Gregorio-d3q all are cars that wrote history. The 128 re-invented and started the FWD. revolution. I'd view the the 124/125 as sister models. The 124 and successive Lada copy is the second most sold / built car chassis in the world and is quite iconic. Enough said.
For an american is a strange car for an Italian is common, but this 128 is a european model, don't have american bumper or lights, for an american maybe remember the Nissan Datsun 1000 of 1967
Possibly a European model as you state but not necessarily as the 5 mph bumper and additional marker lights regulations started in 1973. I don;t think the Datsun 1000 was available in the US in 1967. In the 1960s, At that time, late 1960s early 1970s, I believe the only Datsuns known in the US were the B510s, otherwise known in the outside world as Bluebird or the model designations 1400, 1600 corresponding to their engine size. Remember it was the pre--oil crises era and small econo cars weren't on most people's wishlist in the US, unless it was the VW beetle/bug which had a cult following..

I really wouldn't drive this shifting it manually. When people do that there's always a lot of banging and grinding. It's hard on the on the transmission, also excess wear on the clutch. Put the shifter in the down position, that's high-range, and enjoy a drive without the bother of the clutch and shifter.
@@7427665 congratulations! Mine could need some restoring too. But it’s in drivable condition, inspected and insured. I drive it sometimes but I’m waiting for summer and warm temperatures again. I’m scared to drive it on snow and ice because it has no assistance systems, no safety and I’m not a very experienced driver at all
