does the tone distorts when pushep up
Wonderfull really wonderfull 🎉 thank you for sharing 😊
I wanted a Marshall BB but not after this. Great playing and for a bedroom and small band guy this will meet the needs in spades. Great video!
Thank you so much! Funny story: I sold the Macht 12 to buy a BB. The Savage sits somewhere between a tweed Deluxe and a BB to my ears, and probably leans a bit toward the tweed. Fantastic amp and I'd never refuse one, I just wanted the BB because it is exactly what you hear on the old Mayall records w/Eric and Peter Green.
@@aaronnickell3717 love that amp too! Thank you for the information and background! That is a spectacular tone!
Could you tell me what the size of the body (largest part) of the epiphone Broadway is?
17"
Interesting version and nicely played. I start in D7 and the Broadway is a fine Jazz guitar with a wide neck and nice low action.
String gauge? Original pickups?
Thomastik-Infeld flat wound 12s, original pickups!
such clean tone and complex arrangement ! do you have tabs? :)
Thank you, Kate! It's Dirk Laukens's arrangement, available at www.jazzguitar.be/blog/misty/
I have nine guitars all made left handed one of my nine guitars is like the one your playing it's a agile cool cat guitar my latest is a gretsch streamliner it's my favorite and a lyx telecaster maple neck vintage bridge
That's really good there was this guitar teacher in long island NY years ago his name was Phil nelson he was good to he would come out from the room were he taught and play out in the store he had this hollow body fat gretsch guitar wow he was good
Fantastic playing and great tone. Is the Broadway easy to do fast runs on? Is the action low?
Thank you, James! I appreciate the compliment. You can certainly set the action low. My Broadway is noticeably lower than my Gibsons, as I'm not worried about bends with jazz. Overall, you get far, far more guitar than what the $800 USD price would suggest. Stellar instrument.
And yes, easy to do runs on the Broadway!
I thought the broadway was discontinued prior to 2020 I thought they stoped making those back in the early 2010s
They were making them as late as 2019. I purchased this one new in 2020 from a major retailer. Seems like dealers list them as backordered now though, and I haven't seen new stock in quite awhile. Also, they weren't listed on Epiphone's website the last time I checked. Thanks for dropping by!
@@aaronnickell3717 They are back in 2022. They just can't kill the Broadway. Thanks for the video!
!!!!
Hella good playing, gotta learn some more stuff first... Trying to play some eddie
Right on! You can do it, Jesse! He does a lot of stuff that isn't intuitive at first and is always a bit ahead or behind the beat. Remember: slow and accurate. Then speed up. Playing Ed is a pain, but still my favorite guitarist ever.
Great demo! Does the kleinulator affect the tone even if no effects are going through it? How do you use / set it? Cheers!
Thank you! Yes, the Kleinulator is indeed an integral part of the "Dumble sound," for lack of a better phrase. It seems to smooth out highs and smooth the overall character of the breakup. You put the Kleinulator in the effects loop. Send and return controls determine how much of the preamp signal gets sent to your effects and how much the signal is boosted coming from your effects, and a recovery control determines how much signal gets sent to your power tubes. Basically, you can turn your amp's master volume up to get the tubes hot, then send a lower amount preamp signal to them than usual to get a really hot sound at a lower volume. Robben Ford and Larry Carlton have made extensive use of this setup with the original "Dumble-ator," which contains a 12AX7 tube if I'm not mistaken.
@@aaronnickell3717 sounds like an attenuator
Great sound...I was going to order one of these with Nik but I found a Dumble builder here in Perth Western Australia...and he will "voice" the amp with me, that extra little touch of customizing reeled me in. Where did you get this awesome backing track? It's fantastic!
Thank you! Backing track is Robben Ford's "Talk to Your Daughter" without the guitar. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/_9LnsDpvVxQ/v-deo.html
@@aaronnickell3717well, I didn't get the Perth built Dumble 😢... I got one of Nik's 😂...had it since last November, a 100w OTS FM and C Lator... Such an awesome Amp
How loud was this in order to get this tone ?
Hi Peter! Not very loud at all. Bedroom comfortable with the effects loop buffer. You can crank the power tubes and use the Kleinulator to control the master volume, similar to an attenuator.
@@aaronnickell3717 I had a quick question if you wouldn't mind me asking. Does the master volume work as well as using the effects loop for reducing volume? Or does the effects loop sound better?
@@gavinw5469 Hi Gavin! Sorry for the late reply. The master volume works well, though the character of the breakup is different. The smooth, vocal breakup happens with the Kleinulator. Without, the breakup is a LOT raunchier. Bonamassa and a a few other folks run Dumbles w/o the loop trick.
@@aaronnickell3717 Ah, actually the buffer goes in the pre-out, power-amp in jacks so it's ahead of the output stage. The only way to crank the power tubes is something between the speaker out and the speaker. What people don't understand is tone from volume comes a lot from the speaker itself, so even an attenuator kills tone. It's just the physics of how a speaker works. Your tone was great by the way.
Killer tone
Thanks Josh!
Bad ass, damn do I wish I had one of these, great job bro! Jerry Cantrell is one of my biggest influences in playing guitar, ONE DAY ILL BE THERE! 😎🤙
Lying bastard
Do you use any pedal to make this overdrive sound?
Hi Kohtaro! No overdrive pedal. That's the amp. The only pedal I have going is a Hermida Reverb 3 in the effects loop. I am, however, using the Ceriatone "Kleinulator" effects loop buffer, which is designed to emulate the Dumble-ator effects loop so many folks used with Dumbles.
All hail the Meathand!
@@Zlofengir Oh man, that's going to stick isn't it? \m/
@@aaronnickell3717 Damn right it is!
Nice.. One of the best demos for OTS FM Modern Eagle on UA-cam...Thanks for posting it !
Thank you so much for the kind words, Satio! Do you have a a Ceriatone or are you looking to buy one? I love my FM Modern Eagle.
Hi Aaron, enjoyed the demo, the amp sounds great. I'm eyeing one that's for sale...
Hey there! Thank you so much. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one at any price. Superbly built; massive sound for 12 watts; and the studio/stage switch lets you get tube saturation at lower volumes (I think it lowers it to about 2 or 3 watts). Very dynamic amplifier, and one of my favorites EVER. When I bought it, I thought it leaned toward a Bluesbreaker/Tweed Deluxe hybrid of sorts. Supposedly they're Savage's take on a vintage Dearmond. The longer I own it, the more I definitely hear Tweed. If you get one with a Mojotone or Celestion, it'll sound a bit more like a Bluesbreaker. Throw in an American-voiced speaker and it definitely develops some Deluxe characteristics. So much fun!
Hey Aaron, sorry to bother you but what speaker have you got in your macht 12? I have one as well! Nice playing by the way! Best Ethan
Hi Ethan! Oh no bother at all! Thanks for the kind compliment. I have the Mojotone BV-30V in the Savage. I've been incredibly happy with it. This is the amp to end all amps, for me. What do you have in yours?
Aaron Nickell man you’re very welcome ! That’s awesome that it’s stock . And man it’s been my main amp for about 5 years now and i own a lot of great sounding amps still and have had rare and expensive vintage like a 1960 tweed bassman , but this has been my go to amp and they are so affordable too ! When I bought this one it had an English G12H30 70th anniversary and I didn’t care much for it . I the. Swapped that out for a Weber alnico blue dog 30 watt . I kept that for a long time and liked it . It sometimes seemed a bit too compressed or dark with my r7 with humbuckers so I’m thinking of either getting a bv30 like stock or trying the ceramic version of the Weber blue . You don’t really see much talk of this amp in forums and not many videos so I was glad when I saw your video! Thanks again for taking the time to get back to me.
Oh no problem; I'll chat shop about amps until I'm blue in the face. HAHA I'm a big Mike McCready fan, so naturally Savage had been on my radar for a long time. I'd been trying to nail Clapton's Beano tone for years with a variety of pedals, settings, etc. When I heard the Macht 12 was like a mix between a 5e3 and a Bluesbreaker, I bit. And I'm SO glad I did. I'll never be able to use a Bluesbreaker at volume, so this gets me WAY more than in the ballpark. It's a dark amp to me. Very dark. I'm curious about what a Creamback or a Jensen would sound like, but I'll be damned if I'm not perfectly content the way it is. The alnico compression may be a bit much with such a low-headroom amp. The BV30s are a steal, and I assume there's a reason that the Savage guys love it. Now if you can convince me to stay away from a Blitz 50... ;-) @@ethanlamb7324
