We have plans for one or two soon!
The whole food setup is called as DHAM. DHAM can be given in occasions of Weddings, Deities meetup, post funeral ritual meals, etc, and like u correctly said, it also is a community getting together in in all occasions and supporting each other. In the early Days, for a DHAM, the food was prepared by the special cooks / hereditary chefs called BOTI post certain prayers and rituals and prepared in special brass utensils called BATOHI and then served in Leaf plates called PATTAL. Concept of serving gravies in DHAM is such that you start with the regular gravies and gravies being served through the second half are more like sweet and sour digestive curries and then one with Sweet Rice in the end for a flavourful conclusion to your meal. You wont normally feel like having an overloaded tummy post a DHAM. Last thing, you need to keep up with the pace of incoming curries :D :P Happy that you were able to experience the different flavours. The statue things are basically the Chariots for the local deities. Almost each village around these areas have their own deity, and there are regular meetups among deities here. One festival in Kullu area where you can witness over 300 deities coming together in one place is Dussehra, which mostly happens around October.
