Hey, love I been looking into getting a position in the school, but my friend has been telling me about the children's behaviors and not enough parent support.

It’s best to contact the principal to ensure an incident report is filed and reviewed. Our policies are clear, so parents are aware of the consequences when students act inappropriately.

Hey C'aira, Last year, 2023-2024 I used to get slapped, kicked, punched ,etc from behavioral students in pre K. I was told I could not do anything, but call for assistance from the Behavior Interventionist, or just call for support from the office. I documented everyday what was going on. Also, the teacher began using strategies to de-escalate situations and for focus on earning rewards for good behavior. We also called for behavior support. Neither of us were C.P.I. certified. This school year,2024-2025, I got C.P.I. certified over the summer. The C.P.I. certification give you the legal right to restrain ( if needed). (Crisis Prevention Intervention). No one deserves to be assaulted at any employment. I hope your teacher, works with the Principal, behavior interventionist team, and district behavior team. Now, I work with SPED Resource Team. C.P.I is required with SPED Resource Team. Please keep us posted on how your team solves the Behavior issue.

I’m a Pre-K Instructional Assistant. In my district, if we have Pre-K students with behavioral issues, our director meets with the family along with the teacher to develop a behavioral plan. We do have a lot of students who come into our program that needs an IEP and that process takes a little while but the students typically get approved for those services before the end of the school year.

Working as an instructional assistant for various grade levels for 12 years, I can attest how hard it is to wake up so early especially for elementary. However, later I got to work for McDonalds before going to work at the school and my shift started at 4:30 am that meant I had to be up by 3:30 am. That was even harder. Both jobs helped me appreciate the importance of being up early to get things done but even more appreciate that while waking up early was hard my compensation was getting off early too. I could go grocery shopping or clean or just rest while others worked. Life I is about appreciating the things we have in life. ❤

For student practicum, can you complete it in a certain time frame as long as hours are logged? I will be starting my practicum next semester, but I would need child care. I haven't received a clear answer on what's acceptable for to complete 30 hours. Hope to get some clarification since you've been through this process! Thank you!

Great video and so true about assisting with small groups as well as grading papers that’s the struggle we all face, after teaching all day we then have to take paperwork home to grade or checks having an assistant definitely helps keep the work at school 🏫 ❤ Great video!
