Socks of the Hero tutorial: Ladderback jacquard
Переглядів 1,5 тис.Рік тому
This tutorial accompanies my Socks of the Hero pattern to demonstrate how to use ladderback jacquard to handle long floats. This is a different way of handling the non-working yarn on the back of the work without trapping it as usual. The non-working yarn is caught in its own column of stitches (the ladders) that float behind the work. This creates a stretchier fabric because the float isn’t be...

This tutorial accompanies my Socks of the Hero pattern. Couching stitch is an embroidery technique optionally used for the strings of the Goddess Harp on Zelda’s Sock. Thank you for making this, I finally understand the ladders now! I'm working on the halibut cardigan and the lbj is perfect for those long floats.
These are a literal work of art!! The Easter eggs are brilliant! The thought and effort you've put into these is incredible - I gasped out loud when you pointed out the music notes. I love your Stardew Socks too. I'm nowhere near good enough at knitting to make these, but I'll 100% be buying the pattern as soon as I am :)
Lovely demonstration to watch, and stunning design!
Thank you so much!

These socks (and the Stardew Valley series socks) are so beautiful!! I just subscribed because I'd love to see more from you. Would you be open to making a video demonstrating this technique with the 3 strands like you mentioned? I'm unfortunately struggling to visualise what you mean! In any case, thanks for the video! :))
Thank you so much, I'm so happy to hear you like the designs! I can definitely do that next time I work a sock with 3 strands! The way I did it was I just held the 2 strands in front (same as just the 1 strand in the video, only you're holding 2 strands ) and work the 3rd strand in the ladder stitch. That way worked for me. But I've also seen it recommended to hold just the 1 strand in front (the one that is being used for the current color), and work the other 2 strands together in the ladder stitch (knit the stitch holding both strands together). I think you could play around with either approach and see what works for you! Hope that helps in the meantime!
