Honda TRX 450R, TRX250R, 250X AXLE LOCKNUT DEMONSTRATION.. Guarantee this helps any problems
Just a quick video to explain how the large axle nut and lock nut all come together if you have never taken an axle apart and don't understand how this works you will most likely do it the wrong way..
Been there done that. its easy when you see it.

    I got both locknuts off but that threaded sleeve will NOT come off for the life of me it’s been stuck for over a year now any thoughts? I tried tightening the smaller locknut all the way down to get it to push the threaded sleeve out, but it will not work.

    So mine came with two circlips…have NO idea what the second one is for. Also, it was a BITCH to get that circlip back into that groove in the nut. I had to lean a prybar against the bottom of the clip with my leg, using my other leg as a stabilizer. Used my right hand to push the each end of the ring into the groove, while my left hand was tightening the nut until it popped in there and I could tighten it down all the way. Took 2 hours. * glances at time * and no.. actually took 3 hours. I’ve been at it since 4. It’s 7 now and I JUST got done. But yeah… I have no idea what that second clip is for and I wish I could find the aftermarket locknut I already had on it. The bolt stripped out.

      Idk why theres 2 clips either... Unless it's an aftermarket set up the stock set up you just slide that circlip on the axle Into that groove and then that's what prevents the whole nut assembly from just pushing itself back off the axle when you tighten it, That's what holds it on the axle so it doesnt slide right off ..... Did you make good aftermarket ones that you don't have to worry about But a little advice rap electrical tape around the lock nut and the big nut so it doesn't come loose when you're riding it Or else will destroy the bearings in one ride

    My problem is I can't get the larger outer lock nut to spin outward on the inner threaded/splined collar so that it can push itself toward the rotor hub :(

      Haha glad i could help, i forgot about this video actually. When you put it back together i always wrapped the lock nut in electeical tape to keep it from coming loose wich it almost always would. Thats why theres alot of aftermarket set ups that get rid of the lock nut

    I can’t say I didn’t get teary eyed watching this. My first four wheeler was an 85 LT50. Yellow. Gold wheels. Brand new! I was 5 years old. Learned how to control a vehicle and drive with it growing up. Lost track of it around the time I was 14. My dad divorced my step mother due to her drug problems. She took the liberty of taking ownership of it and I’m pretty sure sold it for dope money. I had my first child in January and would absolutely love to find one for him by his 5th birthday. Very cool restoration man!

      Thanks man. Same here! I have a picture of my old man holding a rope tied to the back of my 50 when i was 3. That thing went through me and my 2 brothers and we were all hooked, it got sold along the line and we always would joke around about it and how much fun it was as a kid. And 20 years later im racing GNCCs with my brother and he got me this on my birthday. Best gift ever 🤙

      I just picked one of these up for my little girl who is 6, I rode the same one as a child. The thing still kicks well! These were well built for beating. Once she’s done with it I’m gonna restore and keep. Also have a 79’ Honda 70 3 wheeler ATC, love these little ones. Great restoration!

    My big nut clicks????

    • @Powerstroke2003
      @Powerstroke2003 5 років тому

      If you already have the smaller lock nut backed away then it sounds like your going the wrong way . Its revwrse thread so turn it clockwise to loosen it..

    My nut assembly like the pice that moves is loose so..... what do I do?

    • @Powerstroke2003
      @Powerstroke2003 5 років тому

      If you mean the entire piece moves back and fourth and is loose you have to first break the locknut loose from the bigger nut and spin in over towards the rotor a little. Then the bigger nut is what you need to turn to tighten everything.. turn the big nut (reverse thread) clockwise towards the tire, it cannot go past the lock ring so when it gets to the lock ring it begins to spread the entire assembly your talking about apart....keep going until the axle becomes snug but still loose enough to spin your axle and chain around by hand in nuetral...if its to tight you will blow through bearing and if it wont get tight enough your bearing are probably already shot.

      iHD x AsSASs1N Gaming theres a few different restrictors on the bike to tame it down for kids, some real easy to take off some a little more involved but nothing crazy. First make sure the screw in the throttle is backed all the way out so the thumb throttle is not being stopped halfway, quarter etc. Second pull the exhaust off. Therea gonna be a restrictor plate inbetween the head and pipe. ( its just a little piece that has a smaller hole than the pipe to restrict the exhaust flow. Toss it, but before re assembly take the baffle or tip off the muffler side, this also restricts exhaust flow. The pipe will fit fine without these 2 pieces, no changes have to be made as far as remounting the pipe. Now you need more air flow so first pull the intake manifold ( the bent aluminum pipe connecting the carb to the cylinder) similiar to the pipe theres also a restrictor plate in between that and the cylinder with a smaller hole to restrict air flow, toss it and reassemble. The last but important one is in the carb....pull the bowl off and youll see the main jet in the center. This quad has whats called a stacked jet (the main jet has a smaller jet threaded into it ie: there "stacked" one on the other) simply unscrew the smaller stacked jet and leave the one main jet only) reassemble. Sounds like alot but its pretty easy your just removing restrictors, not altering anything. But thats your exhaust, intake and fuel restrictions. I ran just a foam filter right off the carb, i didnt change jet sizes but i did mess with the fuel screw located right on the carb by the choke for some fine tuning .
