Ride Year Round - Use Heated Gear

  • @redrider0151

The big thing about modern airbags is the fact they immobilize your clavicle, they inflate to immobilize your neck...its not so much impact protections like people assume, its basically taking the place of hans devices and keeping you from snapping/breaking your collarbone and bones in your neck....which is what used to be the major injuries. Thats what paralyzed Wayne Rainey. It used to be that after every crash guys would break thier collarbones...that is what the airbag is actually preventing. On gloves its the palm that is important...the knuckle protection is more for show than anything else...yeah, they offer protection, but its your palm that impacts... Love watching you guys on the sportbikes vice just the Harleys!! Enjoy the cool riding temps!!!

As you mentioned, riding with more experienced or better riders can help improve skills. I know I push myself more when I’m following a better rider. I think it’s a lot of fun to ride with people that are better riders than me, but I usually prefer to ride alone. I feel more relaxed riding alone because I’m not worried about what another rider may do unexpectedly and I’m not concerned if I’m riding too fast or too slow. With that said, it is a blast when you do a hard ride with someone and it’s like you know what each other is going to do without even communicating. Great video.

Are you kidding me, on a 1000cc supersport, anything over 75f is risking heat exhaustion in traffic. Wear layers, a good merino turtle neck and wind resistant layer under your safety gear is all you should need. Highway add a neck gaiter and you should be fine.

Man it's tough to group ride a true sports bike laying on the tank. I get that. I have a yamaha fz6 and I wish for cruise control. I rode the tuono 660 and it was a bit stiffer than my fazer. The mt09sp is a step between the tuono v4, but I haven't rode them back to back.

Did you have a look at the Tuono 660 as well? If so, what made you choose the RS? I'm looking at purchasing my second bike at 50yo. Currently on a Triumph Bonneville. My back isn't the greatest, and am concerned that the sporty riding position of the RS wont be great for it. Kind of have my mind set on the Tuono, and am wondering how much of a difference the riding position really is.
