Lyons Roofing tear off: Preparing your roof for re-roofing

Care in roofing happens before the new roof goes on. In fact the preparation can be the most disruptive part of the re-roof process. Watch this video and KNOW what to expect. #lyonsroofing lyonsroofing.com
Flammable Polyurethane foam insulation is flammable and can easily catch fire and burn when exposed to heat or an open flame1. When ignited, it burns rapidly and produces intense heat, dense smoke, and toxic gases, including carbon monoxide2. As a result, it is considered a dangerous fire hazard3.
Hoy simplemente quite un techo de esa basura 😀😀😀🤦🏻♂️
i can do this
I wana cover my entire house in this.
The coating is not a waterproofing barrier? So water penetrates the foam?
The foam roof IS a waterproofing barrier and very effective and adds great insulation qualities. After the foam roof is on, its followed up with a elastomeric white roof coating. The elastomeric coating is highly reflective of the sun's damaging uv rays etc and protects the foam roof from the sun. Regular maintenance of a foam roof is to simple put another coat of elastomeric on it every 5 to 15 years (depending on the quality of the elastomeric.) If there is ever damage to a foam roof, it's very easily repaired.

How much for a double wide mobile home?
“THE MOST RESPONSIBLE WAY TO ROOF” 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I strongly disagree. It’s the most irresponsible. For all of the building owners/property management companies thinking about this option, I strongly advise you do your research before deciding to move forward with this system. These roofs are a preventative maintenance nightmare. Scenario 1: your RTU needs maintenance/repairs. HVAC technician walks across the roof not knowing and or not caring about damaging the roof. Drops a panel/screw/tool on the roof and cuts into the roof. That night it rains. Now you have an absorbent foam product that is soaked but hey maybe your roof didn’t leak. Well ffwd until it does eventually leak and See how much it’s going to cost to replace the affected area. By the time your roof lasts 20 years, (btw I’ve never seen a foam roof last longer than 5 years)you will absolutely end up paying more than what an EPDM/TPO roof would have cost. You’ve been warned
Twaddle ... one fundamental characteristic of HD poly closed cell foam is that it is NOT absorbent. In fact, it is used as the core in about 30% of modern yachts for that very reason. Damage is quick and easy to repair (over-spray and coat.) I have used this technique on a number of roofs, some as long as 25 years ago, and all are still in perfectly sound condition.
Sure, and a meteorite might strike your roof and make a hole too! I guess conventional type roofs never get leaks, huh?...... You're obviously a roofer who hasn't invested in the equipment to do foam roofs and therefore companies who are doing foam are eating your lunch.
Well my foam roof originally was installed in 2000, its now 2024, had the protective UV coating done, last year, but for the 23 years done nothing to it.. Never had an issue with it in all these years. Not one leak, unlike the old tar gravel roof we for decades before the foam, which had leaks after rain storms, and proved literally impossible to locate its source. One "hugh" side benefit is the "insulation" provided by foam, it easily drops temperatures indoors by 15 to 20 degrees during the very hot summer days. I did notice some very small tears, on the coating due i think to possibly tree branch hitting surface, or birds peeking on it. I called the foam roofer, they said to use some sikaflex to repair it, and it did the job .
@ oh I guarantee something’s going on under there! Just because you don’t see a problem, doesn’t mean you don’t have one. Maybe you’re right and I seriously hope you are! What part of the country do you live in and how many sq ft is the roof?
@@LaMostraVia West Coast but climate very mild rarely gets below 50F in winter or above 80F in summer, one story flat roof home about 950sqft built in 1924. They did remove all the old tar/gravel that was up there and replaced any rotted roof rafters before spraying the foam, they applied a white elasometric foam with ceramic stone imbedded above the foam for UV protection. I have only a small crawlspace between the roof and ceiling of home.....will see if i can check if any moisture issues.
Spray foam roofs are garbage. We tear them off just after a couple years. They blister, birds peck at them. Bullet holes penetrate the roof( detroit).
Bullet holes? Lol I am pretty sure there is no roof material that is bulletproof.
@@chinasanchez007 Thick concrete roof are pretty much bullet resistant.
Foam roofs are long lasting, provide insulation and are very easy to maintain in the hot, dry Arizona climate.
Ive been in the roofing business for over 50 years. And installing foam for over 20. I've never had to tear off any foam for any reason. You're just a roofer that doesn't like competition
Your rant is totally silly & delusional, grow up already.

Learn English first, then come. Roofing is a tough job but as long as you’re willing to do it they’ll hire you. Just please know English when you do decide to come, and whoever comes with you. Speak the language, know it, understand it. We have enough people who come not speaking English.
@@marissateresa_ True but to be fair it wouldn't hurt to speak Spanish as well, almost all the roofers in the US speak Spanish these days only some speak English. No I do not like or agree with that though, Vote like our country depends on it because it does!
How come you guys use plastic sheeting when applying the foam to the edge metal?
To stop overspray from going onto the side of the building
Looks pretty good. We've been doing the chopped fiberglass system since the 80s.
Looks good. The glass looks to need to be narrowed and the emulsion looks real thick, not your fault. As a maintenance coating, its hard to beat this system. I rarely pitch a straight spray like this anymore due to separation issues at seams and laps. A complete lay up with the chopped system over the Polyester is the best way to go!
Good 👍🏻
