Khaangchu pioneers a transformative educational model rooted in the indigenous knowledge systems of the Rongmei Nagas in Northeast India. By reviving the traditional Khaangchu and contextualizing education within the tribe, we envision creating safe, democratic spaces where Rongmei learners can authentically explore and express their identity. We strategically blend the best, most equitable, inclusive practices in education with indigenous knowledge systems, sustainable living practices and modern skills to meet the current needs of our community. Through experiential learning and local resource utilization, we aim to eliminate the dual realities learners face, bridging the gap between conventional education and their lived experiences. We believe that one day, all Rongmei children of NE India will have access to an education that empowers their identity and celebrates the wisdom of their ancestors.
