as a Jax state alumni I can safely say that this was a good hire by wvu, Jacksonville state was really bad at the beginning of the year, and Rich Rod was able to quickly adjust the roster and still motivate his players after a nightmare start of the season. Ending 9-4 after an 0-3 start is something a lot of coaches can't do, Florida State for example, they just collapsed.

None of her female competitors have stated that they think she should not be competing against other women, and her punches are not considered significantly more powerful than those of other elite female boxers. I watched the entire fight. The Italian boxer didn't put up a particularly good defense, and her offense was lackluster. The Algerian caught her with a few good shots, but nothing that wobbled her. The Italian paused the fight twice before conceding. Though she gave a dramatic emotional display, it was unclear to me why she would concede so soon. She appeared to still have a chance, but the Algerian's defense appeared to be significantly better. The Algerian has boxed in many regional and international events, and has had enough success to qualify for Olympic competition, but she has never been considered a top contender for Olympic gold. There are other female Olympic and professional boxers that hit harder and are considered more dangerous by far. Of the many different boxing organizations that promote events, only one, the International Boxing Association (IBA), has said that the Algerian has been disqualified from competition due to undisclosed medical test results. The Olympics has distanced itself from the IBA and does not permit the IBA to host qualification bouts because the IBA is run by a Russian oligarch who is known to have criminal connections. The Olympics have had the same policies regarding determination of eligibility for competition for years, and those policies are transparent and based on objective criteria. They are similar to the policies and practices used by boxing organizations that are more reputable than the IBA. No one complained when Imane Khelif competed in the 2020 Olympics and lost. This sudden controversy seems hypocritical. Angela Carini abandoned the fight because she took a hard punch and didn't want to continue. She wasn't out on her feet, nor had she been overtly injured. She just quit. Imane Khelif was the better boxer in that match. She placed her punches well and did a better job controlling the distance. Carini could have chosen to continue, but she didn't. Khelif has worked very hard for a very long time, and she has paid her dues in the ring. She earned this victory.
