Not familiar with the aluminum mesh technique, but mine have some pretty deep dents in them, so I'm going to look into the heating them up and banging them out method, apparently you just need to anneal the metal a bit and they'll go back, plus I'm having a bugger of a time trying to match the paint

I love the quality of your work on the bulkhead, I have the same holes there in mine, I just started on a series 3 and learning all the tricks, but glad I found you this will be inspirational, I'm going to get the wings off and that's going to move things along

it’s satisfying to be as accurate as you can on cuts, lines and depths. Very cool. Is the technique all the same for door frame cutouts? Or do you use a jig

Hi, thanks for sharing your Ferguson tip trailer. I'm working on building a somewhat faithful copy of one, I have managed to track down some dimensions from old catalogues etc would greatly appreciate if you could give me dimensions of any of the following cheers! A) Chassis Rails (Channel Section) I assume they are about 180x50mm B) Outside distance between chassis rails where the axle is, guessing it's approximately 1200mm C) Deck Rails (Channel Section) looks about 150x50mm D) Deck corner posts, looks about 50x50mm box and 50mm angle for the side frames Thanks again

I am installing a new strike plate that is just one strike plate for both deadbolt and reg lock. Does it have to be flush to the wall? I am not wanting to chisel if I do not have to. Is making it flush more of an aesthetic thing or is it needed for security or function?

    • @MrMacHowto

Hi, Sorry for the late reply. Yes, It's for aesthetic reasons mainly. Although a sharp edge/corner could cause a laceration. Thank you

Remember rust comes from inside the chassis.i rebuilt my 2a 88 inch about 5 yrs ago and used hamerite and it stats of nice and shiney but fades quickly to a dull colour,. Hindsite I would not have used hamerite but just used a black paint and sprayed it. Btw I am in South Africa and don't suffer rust. Cheers Kevin

Thank you for this video. Wonderful to see that you squared up the hole drilled for the strike plate, and talked about filling and painting it later to give a tidy appearance. So many other how-to videos omit this reference. Having worked 25+ years in interiors, I've come to recognize that is one on my pet peeves with carpenters installing lock sets - leaving the strike plate box looking untidy and unfinished!
