Old Money Style [2025 Men's Fashion Trends]
In 2025, the old money look is all about simple, timeless style. Neutral colors, sharp tailoring, and quality fabrics like cashmere and silk take center stage. It skips the flashy logos and loud trends, focusing instead on clean, classic pieces that last. This style isn’t about showing off-it’s about quiet confidence and effortless elegance.

    It better to buy second hand than from online stores. Shein products can be outright dangerous to your health! Please don't give Shein your money

    I appreciate the point made below about all the things her local independent thrift store does. My local Goodwill does some of those things also. Here in Asheville after Hurricane Helene, they were handing out free gift cards, $25 per household member, no questions asked. This has gone on for the last couple of months. They hire people straight out of prison, persons with disabilities, drivers for disabled to get to work, and the list goes on. Maybe their CEO makes millions; plenty of people repeat it but where is the proof? Another factor possibly driving up thrift prices is the influx of buyers who have a channel and resell the things they buy. Thrift stores know this and they price accordingly.

    Thrift stores used to be so cheap I was embarrassed to be there. My mom would say “If they’re in here too what’s the problem” ha! I don’t think the “fast fashion” is something we all willingly agreed to. We got influenced or tried the look for less dupe not realizing we’ve sacrificed quality. That only hits us after that first wash!

    I know one thing that drives the price up at Goodwill is a CEO that makes almost $600,000 a year!

    I dont think theres anyone to blame for cost increace at thrify stores, except the thrift stores raising the prices. While they can maintane a lower cost for those who need it, everyone that spotted axway to make money from those deals, buy more from the thrift stores, so theyre still making their money, but quicker. Those in need of deals, like me, can allow people the freedom to live and pay their bills, while i can adapt by learning to buy used clothing thats seemingly unuseable and altering them to make me happy and fit right, there is plenty of goods to be had by all, stop whining, this is america, thrift stores dont have to raise prices as much as they have, they sell more items now than ever, making more money off resellers, their raising prices so much is actually corprate greed over remaining what they started out to be. America always wants to blame others for being jerks, reality dictates theres nobody to blame but the jerk. People like me can adapt in our own fantastic and creative ways, and have fun doing so.

      Not to mention the fact that after goods have filtered through the store, many, MANY, great items still end up in the goodwil bins, and the dumpsters. Watch videos on each of these places being swarmed by resellers and normal folks, goodwil outlet bins, and dumpster divers hitting thrift stores dumpsters, truly i tell you, corprate greed couldnt be clearer. THEY DONT NEED TO RAISE PRICES, THEY ARE BURSTING AT THE SEEMS WITH GREAT DONATIONS DAILY, AND CONTINUE TO THROW AWAY GREAT ITEMS. IS IT NOT CLEAR THAT INSTEAD OF BEING THE RETAIL FELANTHRAPISTS THEY CLAIM TO BE, THEY CAST BLAME ON SMART AMERICANS MAKING A BUCK, FOR THEIR OWN GREED?!?!

    This is why I rarely take my donations to Goodwill. I have also asked that an especially nice coat that I was donating (for a child) be given for free to a child who needs it. I can't bear someone rich buying it to resell for a high price while a child goes with a trashy coat or none at all.

    Greed! They get on their phones and see what they can get for the item,with comparisons to ebay and resellers.The stuff came to them for free,and initially to help sever the poor.Especially church thrifts,who pay no taxes,are horribly guilty of this greed.

    It’s to bad thrifting has changed. When i started thrifting it was a wonderful way to decorate my home. I could find by premium items at great thrift prices. I had great luck finding table lamps, wonderful clothing including, coats, high end sweaters and skirts or leather jackets. All at a very low price. My favorite shopping was for art,or interesting items to decorate my home. I no longer thrift for much. But when I do, i don’t find the quality of items i found in the past. I do watch several resellers just to enjoy their hunt for items to resell. However, I also feel they have caused a great deal of the current issue with thrift store prices going up.

  • @maryanncraft4044
    @maryanncraft4044 3 години тому

    Nope. It is greed on the part of the thrift stores and and the You Tubers I have been shopping the thrift stores for over 30 years and in that time period I have seen thrift stores become jealous of their own customers and go into competition with them. People who donate also frequently shop thrift stores. The donaters get angry too when they see how much these thrift stores are charging and they stop donating to charities that are overpriced. Quality items maybe a good find in cold climates, but in hot climates quality items were not there period. Goodwill is a waste of time if you are looking for a bargain. It is corporate greed and jealousy causing the price hikes. Goodwill is sealing its own fate. People need to be more discerning about which stores are being run by charities and which ones are being run for profit. Do your homework people.

    I live in upstate South Carolina. One thing i've noticed is they do not check clothes for stains holes or tears. These items should not be donated at all and left.They are bagged separately as rags. There are some people like me That would buy these at a low price because I sew and material is expensive. They used to sell rag bags.I don't know why they don't do it anymore. Also here.I don't know if it's a law or just a rule in local stores they throw away all light bulbs in lamps . So if you want to buy a lamp, you need to bring light bulbs with you to check and make sure they work.Because you do not get refunds on anything you buy at a thrift store

    Totally agree with what u have said here! I bought a plan no name brand of jacket from Walmart for $7.00 and have worn it daily. Brand names are going to bring higher prices, period… If u NEED A COAT there are many places to get one cheap. If you want a name brand “ Find” then you’re gonna pay the price it can bring..

    I've been thrifting since the 70's when my mom would take us for school clothes. Through the 80's until about 2010 there were a lot of quality vintage items to be found at deep discounts. I would never shop there today. It's all Walmart, Target, Shein, Forever 21, Macy's house brands and the like. I happen to be here in South Asia right now, and these thrift stores are like the US vintage Americana that was dominant in the 80's-90's. A lot of old school brands and new old stock here in Bangkok and in Tokyo. I often wonder if they've raided our stores as well, because there are 2 entire mall sized floors of these clothes in vendor shops in Chatuchak as well as throughout the city.

    I stopped going to Salvation and Army and Goodwill. They got really commercial. You can tell the commercial places from the local shops meant for the community. You can also just go to yard sales and rummage sales. The cheaper places offer fill a bag days for a fixed price. There is a vintage market, but there is still a thrift market. Some people are trying to earn a living reselling online. I don't have a problem with that. A lot of the poorer people only want tee shirts, sweats and jeans. They aren't going to wear a fancy dress around.

    Nobody “back in the day” had big walk in closets. My mom had maybe 2 dresses per season. They were all hemmed beautifully with full seen in slips. Shoes we had fixed in town. They were all leather and lasted to be handed down to neighbors and cousins and younger siblings.
