    I don't remember if it was during a Seth Rudetsky interview or maybe one of her own concerts, Emily Skinner revealed that while she was still a member of the ensemble and a Lucy/Emma understudy, SHE was the one asked to provide the voice for Linda Eder at this performance. This was right before she left Jekyll & Hyde to do Side Show a block away. I always wondered if any footage existed so this is A FIND!

    tinyurl. com/jcpsinfodump 1. Current Situation: - JCPS, serving approximately 96,000 students, about 70% of which rely on buses for transportation to school, has faced severe transportation challenges exacerbated by a problematic contract with AlphaRoute. This has resulted in countless missed school hours and widespread disruptions, impacting the majority of students who rely on buses. It has been particularly impactful and even life-changing for low-income students and students of color, and their families. 2. Legislative Context: -Kentucky state legislation has been accused of intentionally withholding funding for JCPS’s transportation, which critics argue is part of a broader effort to resegregate Louisville schools. The state has created committees and funding mechanisms that obscure their focus on JCPS, the only district in Kentucky meeting the specified criteria. During these committee meetings, lawmakers emphasize issues such as understaffing and children's absenteeism, framing these as the primary problems rather than acknowledging that they are effects of the real issue - insufficient funding for the transportation division, which they caused. No one addresses how adequately funding the system could resolve these issues; instead, the discussion remains fixated on their effects. This approach appears designed to perpetuate the avoidance of a real solution. Clearly, this strategy aims to further divide JCPS, aligning with a broader national trend to reduce funding for public schools. As well as resegregation of the city of Louisville, keeping the working class in the working-class cycle. 3. Proposed Cuts to Magnet Transportation: -Amidst these challenges, the school board is considering significant cuts to transportation funding for magnet and traditional program students. This proposal has sparked community outrage due to its high potential to exacerbate racial and economic segregation, particularly impacting West Louisville, historically the predominantly Black side of the city. Despite calls to postpone the vote until April 2024, the school board proceeded with a 4-3 decision to cut funding. Notably, the four members voting in favor were white, while the three opposing members were people of color. This decision severely limits opportunities for low-income children and families who rely on these magnet programs for quality public education. The rationale behind the affirmative votes was the perceived lack of alternatives and the need for a timely decision. However, it's crucial to highlight that the board did not convene substantive meetings to address the transportation issue until April, near the end of the school year, despite the crisis persisting since the beginning of the school year. The rushed decision in April appears superficial, especially considering that the transportation system may not be operational until at least a month after the normal school start date due to severely disrupted routes. 4. Challenges: - Management and Contract Issues: The AlphaRoute contract has been marked by severe mismanagement and operational failures, such as missing entire routes or not accounting for time taken for kids with accessibility issues to enter the bus, highlighting the need for better procurement practices and vendor vetting. - Financial Constraints: JCPS faces financial pressures compounded by legislative actions, forcing difficult decisions regarding transportation funding. - Community Engagement Deficits: Concerns persist over inadequate input and transparency of the JCPS School Board in decision-making processes related to transportation policies. There is little to no effort into communication with the community, in fact specifically avoiding the presence and input of the community by hosting public meetings in small auditoriums when larger ones are available. -Families impacted: Families in Louisville are now being forced to find alternative options for transporting their kids to school or are forced to take on a completely different method of schooling. This is a financial crisis for many, as the families most affected are families who can least afford transportation, and do not have the time or money to provide it themselves outside of their jobs. -Students not getting off til 10pm : Students who are already unknowingly having to face the pressures of how the staff are handling this schoolwide crisis, also are having to deal with the physical consequences. For many weeks after the first day of school when the transportation crisis began, students weren't getting off of the bus until as late as 10pm at night. They also often do not get to school until two morning class periods have passed. This continued, even if not to such a high degree, and still continues throughout the school year as these problems have not been solved. -Bus drivers' impossible conditions: In context to these students not getting off until 10pm, it is not at all the bus driver's fault. Bus drivers can only work with the routes they are given. Many of these bus drivers in this transportation crisis have had to daily to start as early as 3-4 in the morning in order to prepare, do not get off of their morning shift until as late as noon or 1pm, only to have to immediately start back again at 2-3pm to prepare for their evening shift, and not get off until at least as late as past 7pm. This is absolutely horrendous and appalling working conditions, especially considering the fact that these bus drivers have no aides to assist them in their second job of watching over and keeping discipline on all of the students on the bus. No one could possibly get paid enough to do this job, it is mentally and physically impossible to sustain. On top of that the mayor of the city forcibly laid off city transportation bus drivers in order to fill the necessity gap of student bus drivers. This cut many bus routes across the city because of the lack of staffing, when so many in the city if Louisville completely rely on public transportation to get to their job every day and survive. -JCPS Staff: JCPS staff have also been overworked and under immense pressure due to these challenges. Many have been required to stay after school to supervise children waiting for their buses. Teachers in JCPS received emails from their superiors requesting them to take on bus driving shifts in addition to their teaching responsibilities. Furthermore, with the new school year proving to be even more chaotic than the last due to extensive transportation cuts, many teachers are being reassigned to different schools without prior notice of their placements or necessary adjustments until just a few weeks before the school year begins. ----ADDITIONAL NOTES----- - Evolv: The significant expenditure by the school district on the Evolv AI-weapons detection system coincides directly with the lack of transportation funding. It's important to note that Evolv is an expensive and unproven security system, currently being tested for its effectiveness. High school students are being used as test subjects to train this new AI system. The decision to implement Evolv was influenced, perhaps through bribery or manipulation, by salespeople who exploited fears of nationwide school shootings, presenting Evolv as a comprehensive solution. Whether knowingly or unknowingly, the school board chose to allocate resources to this million-dollar project instead of addressing the impending transportation crisis, despite the system's unproven effectiveness. The school board claimed it did not have adequate funding for transportation at the time. - 75k raise: The superintendent for Jefferson County Public Schools, Dr. Marty Polio, got 75k raise at the same time as these transportation systems “couldn’t” be funded and the Evolv systems were being implemented Solutions and Recommendations: 1. Immediate Steps: - Terminate AlphaRoute Contract: Replace with a more reliable transportation provider through transparent and inclusive procurement processes. - Advocate for Funding: Push for increased state funding and legislative support to ensure adequate resources for safe and efficient transportation for all students. Push for increased public school funding rather than privatized school funding which takes away from public education and overall community wellbeing. 2. Community and Legislative Engagement: - Public Accountability: Demand transparency through public hearings and enhanced community involvement in transportation policy decisions. Local organizations come together and consistently push communication with staff members and board members to encourage accountability and responsibility. - Legislative Advocacy: Work with community organizations and advocacy groups to challenge legislative actions that undermine equitable access to education. Raise awareness about the state and local legislative actions and their direct correlation to the harmful impact on the local community. 3. Long-term Strategies: - Comprehensive Review: Conduct an independent audit of transportation operations to identify systemic issues and implement reforms that prioritize student safety and equity. Make the audit public, and then put under public review and community discussion for accountability. In order to identify the problems and address them moving forward. - Policy Reform: Advocate for legislative reforms to prevent discriminatory funding practices and promote educational equity across Louisville. 4. Transparency and Accountability: - Records Disclosure: Ensure full disclosure of all communications and decisions related to transportation planning and funding allocations. - Stakeholder Engagement: Foster open communication with bus drivers, parents, and community stakeholders to address concerns and improve transportation services. Maintain these connections and social engagement through strong communication, empathetic balanced care, and hard work. Conclusion: The transportation crisis at JCPS is not just a logistical challenge but a critical equity issue exacerbated by legislative actions aimed at limiting funding and exacerbating segregation. By advocating for transparency, legislative reform, and community engagement, stakeholders can work together to safeguard the rights of all Louisville students to equitable and reliable transportation services. My hope for people watching this video: be informed about what's been going on here in Louisville, hopefully relate that to your own local issues and try to help out and spread awareness about what's going on near you, so we can all help each other in this crisis. All of these crises are connected so energy towards one place is energy towards the whole.

    Oh also you do realize that this was the first preview of the show right? Linda Eder was SO SICK with LARYNGITIS that her doctors didn’t want her there but she refused to… this is why you see me indicate when Linda was well, Linda. Am I making sense? Example: Good and Evil - we are seeing Linda lip synching to a short-lived swing singing from the wings! But she sang the song immediately before it (nobody knows who I am) - and as a singer myself; these are some weird ass decisions- to say the least lol

    • @jinx111
      @jinx111 Рік тому

      i did not know that! that makes a bit more sense as to why they kept her, as well as she's just so special it probably in general felt a shame to not have her there, for any reason. i don't blame her for still showing up even though she shouldn't have, i would have too if i was her! 😭😭 yes your indications are very helpful! i would have been confused otherwise because i def recognize when it's her voice and when it's not even though she seems to be on stage the whole time! it must have been hard to perform while being so sick though, poor baby. it's amazing, if you didn't know she was sick you wouldn't even be able to tell lol. it's probably also so hard to lip sync in a live performance! yeah i wonder your opinion on this, it does overall seem strange that they wanted to keep their leading lady despite how sick she was.. but then when i think about how not only is she just a star and she steals the stage without even trying to but she's kind of the star of the whole show in this case (idk what it is about her but she's kinda what makes the jekyll/hyde character that much better it feels like, she kind of accentuates and adds more dimension??) it doesn't actually seem too bizarre lol. i'm sure there was also the factor that this was the first preview of the show-- which i now know thx to you.. and that it's probably no fun to miss out on such a fun role/play/enactment!

  • @LivinLuxuriously

    This is clearly filmed from the box seats (which imo are the worst seats a person can get lol - but they are oh so trendy 🤷🏻‍♀️🙄) I gotta compare the 2 versions (I get them confused because I have like 20 full versions and half of those are the OBC lol) but this sounds great so far - I am at the end of facade (god I wish more people sang this song on Smule)

    • @jinx111
      @jinx111 Рік тому

      yeah as i was watched it i was like this looks like horrible seats for how expensive they are! lol the part where i edited happens around 38:00 and forward, with the period 38:00-1:16:00 having that skipping issue which was most difficult to fix and therefore still looks a bit janky despite my efforts lol. after that there were a few more simpler alignments such as audio not quite syncing or there being a jarring cut. those ranged til the end. the period i spoke of is where you'll notice it has been altered the most. the rest of it you probably won't be able to tell besides a change in color. hope that helps! it was a fun (at least to get it to finally work) as well as a soooo not welcomed excuse to watch the musical over again😭😭😶😂
