My definition of the parties: ANC. Vote for them if you are content with load shedding, lack of service delivery, water shedding, failing schools, failing health care, paybacks from outside the country, corruption, rising crime, theft of resources, state capture. If you like all that stuff vote ANC. Yes they did a good job in the past. But that all ended in 2008. The old ANC is dead. It died with Mandela. DA. I think the DA has proven their worth. The Western Cape, Midvaal and Howick show what they can do. They have a proven track record though I have some reservations about their connections with liberal internationalists. The DA is accused of racism? Really? Where? Point to racist incidents. And politicians getting their fragile egos hurt doesn’t count. EFF. Bunch of clowns but dangerous clowns. Only the hopelessly misinformed would vote for them because that’s voting for racial division, open borders, and the end of private property. EFF is the marriage of the proven evils of Marxism with the idiocy of PanAfricanism. Every time EFF politicians have been elected they’ve engaged in corruption that surpasses the ANC. They’d set South Africa far back. IFP. This party has lots of good ideas. Local authorities, limited federal control, investment in local leadership, free markets. Their ideas are if anything even better than those of the DA. Only weakness is they’re unlikely to gain support outside the Zulu communities. FF+. Much the same as the IFP. Lots of good ideas and they hold the DA’s feet to the fire because so many DA supporters can cross over to them. Same problem the IFP has. Little if any appeal beyond the Afrikaans speaking communities. ACDP. Lots of very good and sound ideas. A little bit of God and Christian teaching wouldn’t hurt the country at all. A good party for members of African syncretist churches to support. UDM. Bit of a has-been party. Former ANC people who left because of corruption. I see no ideas coming out of them and see little support beyond certain distinct local Xhosa communities. ATM. Honestly why does this party exist? Is it a ploy by the ANC to prevent the revival of the ACDP by wooing Christian voters away from them? NFP. Dying party, only ever existed to bring Zulus away from the IFP. ANC client party but goes against them when the wind changes. Not worth the effort. Good. Good for nothing. It only exists because de Lille is able to get along with so few people. Not worth it. COPE. Has good solid ideas but lost the trust of its constituents by in fighting. They had their chance and blew it. Nothing to see here. AIC. This could be a good conservative alternative for Xhosa speakers but they don’t seem intent on getting their message out much. PAC. Basically EFF for really old people. Out of touch, party of dementia. Al Jama’ah. It’s noteworthy that when the ANC tried to get land seizure without compensation passed all the other parties including the EFF voted against it. Al Jama’ah was the only party besides the ANC that voted for it. What do they get out of this? Kickbacks? Avoid like the plague. Now for some of the more prominent new parties contesting the election Action SA. Brilliant platform, very workable. Would bring prosperity. These are very intelligent people. If you’re not comfortable voting DA this is an excellent alternative. Isanco. They know their communities at the grassroots level. They know how people are suffering and are not willing to keep ANC elitism going. Leaders are very intelligent and clued up. Another excellent alternative. BOSA. Maimane is a good leader. I think he’s done his homework. I don’t know much about the platform but I think they’re worth a shot. Rise Msanzi. They’ve got articulate leadership whose hearts are in the right place but they’re trying to jump the gun. Social democracy is only ever implemented by successful societies once they make it rich. South Africa is nowhere near that point. Rise Msanzi, your time has not come yet. PA. They have some good ideas but have made some really stupid political decisions that have screwed up certain municipalities. Until they show a commitment to one side or another I’d say give these guys a miss. SARA. This looks like an attempt by the NFP to try and survive. Not buying it.
