He’s an excellent singer, but this feels almost emotionless
I know this song by heart.
poor emma. she didnt learn soon enough that just because someone asks you to do it... doesnt mean you should.
wow its Terfel!!! and Mcdonald this is great!
1:25 Johanna’s “KISS ME 😤” is so fucking funny here lmfao
Just gotta say the direction here is impeccable. The long pause of Sweeney whistling before “now then my friends” is chilling. It also just makes the material feel so fresh, not overdone/cliche as some Sweeney productions have been.
Quast said he nearly shat himself the first time Terfel began singing behind him during the first rehearsals because he wasn't prepared for the volume of his voice lol.
She's excellent as Mrs Lovett
That bleep sounded unbelievably stupid
Sweeney Todd looks like he belongs in Mad Max
I think I just found one of my favorite Toby! He's SO CUTE!
Thompson's face after the line about "with or without his privates" when she's aware that she maybe went just a little too far and she's like "we're all just having fun here, right? right?" cracked me up
Miscast. Not good and surprisingly, technically deficient. Specially the F# and final F. It baffles me that he couldn’t handle it. Even on the rare nights when George Hearn (who owned the role) opened either note, they were low larynx, vertical and within the nasopharyngeal area. Mr. Terfel couldn’t even decide if he was going to cove or open final F so he screamed it. It went inn and then out, etc.. And a bass baritone ALWAYS covers the F. With a baritone like Hearn it’s still incorrect but you can get away with it. Also the acting by Mr. Terfel leaves much to be desired in this role. On his defense, he was the best Leporello in Don Giovanni I ever saw at the MET.
I love her hand movements
OH for a singing voice like that!
4:11 that look. 😂 brilliant touch.
Ths is good but it missing the final door slam at the end
damn the guy playing the beadle sucks why did they cast him lol
Goosebumps are all over.
The beginning is good, I love that she’s so anxious😂 And I love that they annunciate so clearly that you can hear exactly what everyone is saying! ❤
They couldn’t use actual shaving cream ? Come on
Bryn Terfel :D
I offer this pair as a challenge. No offense to Terfel & Quast, but these 2 sound better........ ua-cam.com/video/78r4XQrw3e8/v-deo.html
Terfel is bad in this scene. Musically poor, lost pitch completely, and nothing happening. Like he's waiting for the bus as opposed to going full on psychopath. Thompson is literally carrying this entire scene.
Too slow.
چفیه بسیجی چی میگه رو گردن خانمه😅😮
I'm crying, this is so beautiful.
I just love her ❤
Que hermoso :'v
This Sweeney has a serial killer smile. I like it !
Emma is amazing in this role!
CHRISTIAN BORLE AAAAAAAAAA
Bryns voice is amazing just absolutely fantastic
4:20 LMAO
I understand why they censored S**t but that sound effect does NOT work here
0:13 elias ABSOLUTELY is the type to drop a random evil laugh into conversation like nothing happened
Emma's chewing the fucking curtains off the scenery.
Why American accents? Don’t like
It seems like she misread “ninnynoddle” as “ninnynoodle”...
Lmao I was looking for this 6 years ago but it was taken down at the moment. So good to serendipitously find it today!
It's a shame they didn't do it as a quartet on the film
Yo it’s the dad from sharpe family singers
Did Terfel miss a line in the beginning? Seemed like the other actor was waiting to come in, but it’s hard to tell.
He did - after "a stylish trimming of the hair?" he's supposed to say "a soothing skin massage?" before Turpin begins singing to fill in the instrumental before the singing bit - Terfel probably either just forgot his line, couldn't fit it with the delivery he wanted, or maybe the director just didn't like the way he said it - interesting omission though
@@salvinuenthusiast Thanks, nice catch. I’ve seen the scene a number of times but never lined them up like that.
This performance "in concert" was better than most staged performances. (See the opening if you can. Lincoln Center. 2014) I still can't believe that the movie entirely removed "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd" moments.
I feel so sorry for the people who only know this masterwork from the watered down movie version with Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter.
Is that. THATS Emma Thompson I never expected a movie actor one of the most famous huge critically acclaimed actresses in a play
He’s fantastic
I love this performance, and Audra Mcdonald and Hey Molly Gordon! is that you😁😍
Is he really whistling or is that sound coming from someone else?
He's really whistling. Check out his performance of Son Lo Che Spirito from Mefistofeles. He's a great whistler!
Such a slept on production. So much fun going on here
The pace is killing it.
