Knipex wire rope cutter on 3/16 galvanized steel cable for hanging lights

So I was stringing outdoor lights over my patio using trees and a distance of around 30 feet so I used 3/16 inch galvanized steel cable. I used a swage tool to make loops. Then to cut the slack away I used a Klein tools cable cutter. While it technically worked it damaged and deformed the cutting edge of the tool. So I replaced it with this hardened steel Knipex tool. My shoulder has been a little touchy ever since a hockey injury in an adult Christian league a few years ago. The Slingshot is helpful in keeping that area supported. Is it a competition lift? No. But mid fifties just trying to get in shape and have some fun doing it.

So, I ended up buying a used computer for a 2nd PC. So I decided to try putting a capture card in it and then record some gaming action from the other PC. Just to sort of test out the functionality of it. I have some friends and family interested in this sort of thing so maybe I can help them make a home studio.

Oops! This video was unintentionally misleading. It turns out that the bits in the kit are left handed so I needed to put the drill in reverse to make them work. I overlooked that little detail. I’ll leave the video up for a time and hope people read the description. But then I will either try to edit it as a don’t be fooled by your assumptions video or just take it down. Im trying to see if the napa kit has left handed drill bits and this is the first video I found. Maybe your napa bits didnt work because you were drilling the wrong direction?
I’ll check. That didn’t cross my mind. I think the extraction bits are designed to grab as you reverse it out but I didn’t think the drill hole mattered. But that would certainly explain the problem I experienced with the drill bits in that kit. I’d have to take the video down ignominiously. 😬
Okay. I checked on it. You were right. It drills in reverse. That explains it. I had no idea. I knew they made left handed bits and I suppose maybe it’s for this application? Huge blind spot for me. I completely overlooked it. I guess I can try to edit this or just take it down. To be fair I was focused on fixing that truck door and didn’t want to disassemble it further so I got this kit in a hurry and since it didn’t work quite as expected I made the video to be helpful to others. Total fail. 🤠
@@ericwanner7966 lol I have never been successful with an extractor set. They always snap and leave a hardened steel piece in the screw. I saw yours work so I'm hopeful when I try this tomorrow. If you get a bolt extractor set from autozone, lowes, etc they have normal right hand drill bits. This was the only left handed one I could find locally. If you had gotten one from anywhere else you would have been spot on! Leave the video up, it's helpful.
