Tilak Raj Suryavanshi world renowned Tabla Player of India was born in 2-5-1959 in a reputed Musician family of the Punjab Gharana. He started learning tabla at the age of five from his father Late Shri. Shori Lal Suryavanshi and after that he started learning tabla from Ustad Abbas Khan reputed tabla player of Punjab Gharana. Sh. Tilak Raj has participated in many prestigious music concerts in India and Abroad both as soloist and as an accompanist. In India he has performed in Swami Hari Das Samaroh, Ustad Allahudeen Khan Samaroh (Bhopal), Malhar Festival in Seeya Ram Centre (Delhi), Harballabh Sangeet Sammelan (Jal.), Durgyana Sangeet Sammelan (Asr.) He has also performed in International Folk Lour Festival in Egypt, Damascus, Ismailia, etc. He has accompanied almost all the reputed vocalists & instrumentalists of the country. The instrumentalists he accompanied such as Pt. Ram Narayan, Ustad Rais Khan, Pt. Bhajan Sopori, Dr. Smt. N Ranjam, Pt. Bhuddha Dutta Mukherjee, Ustad Saheed Pravej Khan, Pt. Raghunath Seth, Jaggan Nath Mishra, Shri Devrat Choudhary, Ustad Imrat Ali Khan, Ustad Saeed Khan and many more. Classical vocalists he accompanied such as Pt. Jasraj, Pt. Rajan Sajan Mishra, Shri Kant Bhakarey, Ustad Abdul Khan, Shri Ram Ashray Jha, Ustad Shafqat Ali Khan, Smt. Savita Devi, Smt. Kankna Banerjee. He has developed his own style of tabla playing in which he concentrate on clarity of tones and speed of execution. He is known for his unique style of playing tabla and he is awarded on various occasions for his mesmerizing performance. He was retired in the year 2019 from Doordarshan Kendra Jalandhar.

Rais Khan Sahib was a great sitarist in his heyday. He should try and get back to the basics of ragavadan and stop singing and playing these unattractive tunes. Please Khansahib play straightforward dadras and thumris without any german-design phrases. And the sound system was awful here. One could hardly hear the baaj taar, and there is a lot of jhanjahn from the other strings too,
